I love the extra details especially the emergency brake cables. Great job

Very well done. I wonder how practical the windscreen was in real life.

Cheaper alternative to Molotow chrome markers

I saw that video a few days ago. The price is certainly attractive. -
As the title says, it gets annoying that almost every time I need to drill a hole in plastic I need to change out the chuck for a different sized bit. Well I found a 3 jawed chuck pin vise on amazon for $ 10.00 and I’m loving it. No more taking apart the pin vise for different sizes of bits. The 3 jawed chuck goes from zero to 1/8”. Perfect for modeling. This may not be a new thing for some but if anyone out there gets annoyed over the old pin vises like I did, you may want to give it a shot.

Now that’s an old kit. Looks good in that color.

What would a car modelers Hades be like:
Camaro lover replied to GLMFAA1's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
My first wife would be there letting the 4 yr old boy she’s babysitting play with my finished models. Yes in my early 20’s I built a model of the Cutty Sark. I spent months doing all the rigging for it. It was at that time the best I ever built. I came home from work to find all 3 masts broken, rigging all pulled out and one side of the hull cracked as if someone stood on it. The few cars with broken wheels didn’t bother me as much as that ship. It sat up on a high shelf so she had to get it down for him to “play” with. I’ve been to hades already. No intention of going back. -
That is spectacular. I love the service sticker on the door. That’s a detail I’ve never seen on a model. So many things done just right.

That is just too cool. It’s a nice change to just have fun with it ?

Absolutely beautiful. Can you tell me which paint you used on the body ?

I don’t have any pictures yet but I finally got the old Camaro apart without breaking anything. The body is back to bare plastic and this time around I got rid of all the mold lines. I’m going to re-use the front suspension but the rear has to be all new. Converting a Z28 to an RS/SS means instead of a single leaf spring, I’m making the correct multi leaf setup out of evergreen strips. This also gives me the clearance I needed for the new rear tires. I know I’m making a lot of work for myself that could be avoided by buying a 67 Nickey Chevrolet Camaro kit but I’m enjoying the new skills I’m learning with scratch building. So aside from the group build experience I’m taking on a whole new skill set that I may not have had the opportunity to do otherwise. -
When I first started building it was always the box art. As a kid AMT always drew me in with their box art. These days I still have a love of those old kits, but I go by subject matter and quality of molding and detail. Aside from some nostalgia kits I go for cars that I’ve owned or ones that I would have liked to own.

Inexpensive solvent based glue

MEK should be available at paint stores. I buy mine through Sherwinn Williams. I mostly use it as a retarder for lacquer coatings. -
C2 custom Corvette Showrod project from 1/43 junkers

Coming along nicely. I always liked the extra tail light option on the 1/25th scale corvettes. I know how frustrating it can be adding the extra light when the kit has no provisions for it. -

I have never been happy with this car so I want to use it as a starting point. I’ll be taking this apart and rebuilding it. This group build was the excuse I needed to finally build a Camaro I’d be happy with. This car will be using skills I’ve never had much experience with. My resin experience is limited, and I’ve never used photoetch before. I’m not as fast as most model builders. Some days I spend more time looking for dropped parts than building. And due to some injuries a few of my fingers don’t work too well. Enough of the excuses… My plan is to convert this Z28 into a RS/SS as well as upgrade as many parts as I can using resin, and photoetch. Some upgrades will include a resin LS 3 engine, disc brakes, recaro seats, new side mirrors, hurst shifter, and hi performance headers all courtesy of Iceman Collections. I have 3 different resin hoods courtesy of Lex’s Scale Modeling. ( I know another member had some issues with a resin hood but I can say all 3 of the hoods I purchased fit well and are the correct thickness. ) For wheels and tires I’ll be using a set from Aoshima called American SS. I’ll be using a Model Car Garage photoetch set as well. As of today I’m undecided on colors but I’ve got plenty of time for that decision -

Hopefully all my resin parts will be in by Monday. I’ll post pics of my donor car and changes I’ll be making. Not the least of which is converting a z/28 to an RS/SS Camaro. -
I’ve always loved that model. Maybe some day I’ll find one I can afford.

I’ve got a 67 Camaro I built years ago that I’ve never been happy with. My plan is to pull it apart give it a purple bath and rebuild the whole car with some modern upgrades. As soon as I gather all the modern bits I’ll post a picture of what I’ll be starting with. -
Toyota MK3 Supra model kit
Camaro lover replied to Camaro lover's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I appreciate all the help gentlemen. My goal is to recreate every vehicle I’ve owned since I got my license in 1971. I regret letting the Supra go. Mine had the 7M GTE single turbo engine. For a while I’ve been thinking the Supra would be on the hard to attain list but now it is definitely doable. Thanks for the heads up Nigel on the Tamiya Soarer. -

I never even thought about going with a MKIV kit for the engine. Thanks ? -

Do you have a source for the motor ? -
I’ve been looking for a Toyota MK3 Supra that has a motor included with the kit. I see plenty of Hasegawa, and Fujima kits but they are all curbside. I know Tamiya had a kit too but it’s been discontinued. Not sure if that one was a curbside as well. Does anyone know of any kits that had a motor included ?
