So I bought some resin parts such as an engine kit and some 2 piece wheels. I'm looking for some tips on painting and assembling these parts...specifically, WHEN to paint? Should I assemble the parts first? Like the wheels, they are 2 parts wheel sets that have a spoke part and then a outside ring that varies in size for offset options. Would you glue the ring to the wheel first and then paint or paint first and then glue? Same question for engine parts...I will be painting several of the parts different colors and it would be easier to paint them before assembling but then I have to worry about messing up the paint while gluing them together? Sorry for the questions...I am very new to painting and air brushing and not familiar with all the tips, tricks and etiquette!

Nice build! My body had a 74 or 75 MC with the round headlights back in the early 90's...we put tons of miles on that thing just cruising around! Ah the good ole' days! Nice work!

I guess I could...I just have this big tote laying around. It's clear and measures like 36" x30" x 24" deep. I thought it would make a cool booth. I have a 30" LED light for it and just need some 4" dryer hose, 4" 130 cfm fan, furnace filters and a plastic plenum to make it work.

That 71-73 Mach 1 at the beginning of the video caught my eye!

Still gathering parts and building a spray booth in my basement! I’ll post some photos as soon as I make some headway! I am close to laying down some paint! I’ll be testing out SMS Hyperchrome pretty soon also! Stay tuned!

I could line the interior with card board or poster board with the added advantage of easy clean up.

Thanks for the link…somehow I managed to miss it! Static is a good point that I need to research. It might be an issue on those small Booth’s but the tote I have is fairly large. My initial thinking is that you may rub up on a smaller booth more causing static easier than a bigger one??

I found a good video on making a DIY booth outta cardboard! I'm using plastic but this has some of the elements I am going to use! Unfortunately, the video doesn't reference some of the components to purchase! I've been scouring Amazon...I'll post about once I get it built!

I have an idea to build a homemade paint booth from a large, clear tote! The problem is, I can't seem to locate an inexpensive fan or air handler box that I could mount to the rear of the tote? It could have a filter built in with 4" flex hose outlet or something that just mounts to the plastic tote like a square to 4" hose plenum and I could cut a slot in the tote to accept a proper sized furnace filter. I know I can buy a small paint booth for around $100 but I'd like to DIY one that is a little bigger for less money! Just having trouble locating a source for parts! I'll have to check them out! Problem is, if they are old kits...they are hard to find and expensive usually. Periodic reissues would be nice to help keep the prices down.

I’m really looking forward to these wheels! They are exact replicas of my actual wheels even down to the rear offset! Many pre chromed options don’t offer the rear offset! Big thanks to you guys for supporting the hobby with great products!

I’d like to see some more “common” vehicles such as: 4th generation Ram 1500 Crew cab Bighorn or Laramie 91 Ford Taurus Wagon 84 Chevy Suburban 77 Dodge Street Van Also some vintage VW like Super Beetle, Karmann Ghia, Vans and the type 3 square back wagon. As fun as it is to build fantasy vehicles, it is also fun to replicate common ones too.

Can’t go wrong with metallic blue and Magnum 500’s! We’ll done!

I'm definitely going down the rabbit hole of extreme model detail! At least the AMT build is my practice run...the Revell kit will be no holds barred!

Those are pretty cool! It does look like a resin cab kit Was this a kit or an assembled toy sold at the gas stations? Either way, they are highly collectible! Especially the Hess line.

That looks incredible! Your attention to detail it top notch! I would have been tempted to put those cab marker lights on with the high end facing front but I think LaFrance did mount them that way! Well done!
