  1. This is an SSB resin casting. I have built several of his kits and never had the cracking problem. It was all of the red only, the silver chrome did not crackle. I did clean it with soft scrub and rinse thoroughly and let dry a few days ,then primed it and let it sit for a week or so. I used model masters primer and red paint. Maybe the paint was bad…….
  2. Jeff, here is a pic without the double pump, my first idea was to make this into a pumper/tanker. All you would have to do is add a place for the out riggers/ stabilizer’s
  3. Thanks Scott. The only Detroit I have is from the amt pumper kits.. they are very old style compared to a modern engine! But at least it would be something .
  4. Thank you Lee, I appreciate that! And yes that is a tractor drawn tiller. It’s been on the bench for a few years. It’s a resin casting. The aerial ladder took a long time to clean up, fill voids and sand. Then for some reason the paint crackled in spots. So there it sits until I get the ambition to strip it and redo the paint.
  5. Good detail work, I like the brake lines. That takes a lot of patience I bet! Dom
  6. Jeff, great job on the paint. It looks bright from here! Seen many apparatus in that color combo from way back in my career. Dom
  7. Lee, Good start, I really like the orange. Will look great when done. Dom
  8. I am back at the bench, this will mostly be a kit bash, with a few scratch built parts. I started by combining 2 of the trumpeter ALF eagle kits. The cabinets and hose bed were sectioned and glued together to make a tandem wheel opening. There will be both pump panels used. The chassis has been stretched by cutting and combining the frames from both kits and the tandem rear axles installed. Have a basic idea of what I am going for after seeing a few pictures of industrial rigs. Need to figure out a color combination for this also. These kits only come with a partial transmission and no motor. Not sure what to do about that, or what would even fit the frame and floor pan height.
  9. Charles, looking good, and as always the tips on the molds are invaluable! You would have my vote this to be a companion piece to the reo Dom
  10. Very unique build! good color. Something you don’t see being built to often, gives people some good ideas. Well done! Dom
  11. Nice clean build! The wood for the rack body is nicely done. Dom
  12. Excellent build. You don’t see a lot of these older trucks being built, so it is nice to see. Dom
  13. Great work overall!,excellent Weathering on the mixer! Dom
  14. Nice work on the under lift and mirrors Scott. Truck is coming together, you may need a piece of fire apparatus for it to tow! Lol Dom
  15. My apology, I was just on the website and the correct name is Ranger Detail Technologies. Dom
  16. I like the chopped cab ! Rims wheels look good. Dom
  17. Great start, adding the plastic stock for the cabinet doors definitely a big improvement. You can also order parts from Ranger Detail Products. He makes a lot of fire apparatus parts in 1:25. I have ordered from him in the past and was satisfied with his product. I will be following. All of your apparatus builds. Dom
  18. Coming together nicely Scott . Great attention to the chassis details! I may to build a wrecker for my fleet, or maybe a heavy rescue wrecker like Miami dade, or LA has……….hmmmmmm. Hope to get back to my bench soon. Dom
  19. Charles, With the help you have given me ,I have been making molds and casting parts . Most of the parts are based from kit based pieces. It would be great to see how you make and perfect pieces to be cast from stock plastic shapes. As you are aware many of today’s fire apparatus and ambulances have 20 plus lights on them. I am having a Hard time making the bezels and lenses from scratch. As well with other parts I am trying to make from scratch, they look good on the bench, but when cast in resin a lot of imperfections show up. The hobby putty seems to be difficult to work with ( maybe I overwork it) and does not always adhere properly to the parts or body.Any help in these areas for those of us in need would be greatly appreciated! Dom
  20. Excellent build Charles , great detail and scratch building and paint !
  21. Looks like you making good progress Scott , looking forward to seeing the finished build.
  22. Nice theme! Being from Jersey it made me lol. Great build
  23. Scott, that’s a nice part time job, I’d rather stay in jersey than drive in NYC, esp with a new rig! They had an electrical fire in the queens shop last week. From what I read , not much damage though.
