I work for the city transit company, and would love to do a GMC Fishbowl (we called them "silver-sides"). We retired ours over a year ago. I'd also like to do one of our current fleet of modern buses, which are mostly by New Flyer (60 foot articulated, 40 foot hybrid diesel electric, and Invero), and we've got 3 Alexander Dennis Enviro 500 double deckers in trails. I was going to suggest leaving them black! Retro look mirrors, on a retro look car, gotta be retro look black!! Cool addition. How about 'after' shots with the new mirrors Oh, and I LOVE the sequential turn signals!

That is too cool! I like the idea, and I'd be up for a build.

Spent some quality time at the workbench this evening. Mocked up the suspension, and then set about getting this as low as I can get it to go... First off, cut out the rear wheel wells, and the '59 spare tire well. Tried that out...not quite low enough. A bit more work (grinding inside the quarter panels (started getting thin!), shortened the inner hubs in the rear wheels, and she set down low and level. That's better. The rear wheels are sitting square, instead of slanted in at the top (like a VW Beetle!). That's as low as I can get it, using the kit chassis and suspension, without cutting the top third off the rear tires! I'm happy Next is to rob some disc brakes from a Viper or a Silverado - just depends on what is going to fit...or maybe I'll find another set of brakes...

I'm sure others will chime in with suggestions, but my first thought was a trigrit sanding stick, as I have used one for that very purpose. Next I'd suggest a dunk in Future (Pledge with Future, or whatever it may be called in the UK!). Polishing like you would do for a paint job would work.

That's pretty impressive, both the artwork, and the photography! Even before I saw the sign saying have fun and find your favourite...I saw several Waldos and Nemos...just no "gold bug" (From Richard Scarrey). Many of my favourite characters depicted there. That would be a fun vehicle to spend some time around. Thanks for photographing it, Peter. I sure appreciated it. Very cool truck!

Looks like a nice kit to start with. Will definitely be watching this one built by a master.

To get back to the original question, I like Harry's suggestions, except to expand the Model Trucks a couple of categories, namely Competition and Stock/Show/Custom or something similar to the cars for non-commercial trucks.

Thanks for the comments, guys! Jairus, I'm glad you like it! I also kind of like the rake like that, but I'll look at it closer and decide on my interpretation! The drawing looks good low, which I like and I'll try a few ideas I have to see if I can get closer to the drawing (tubbing, and shortening axles, different chassis). The wheels really make it. Amazingly, the wheels snapped on the kit axles as they are now! Sweet!

Nothing...that is likely what will occupy the space between the front tires! Or maybe I'll fit a Ford powerplant under the hood... (too many 32 Fords with Chevy small blocks running around...)

A set of Sidewinder wheels made it to my mailbox today for my build!! (Thanks again, Ken!!) Now gotta decide which paints to use, what to do with the not-seen-in-the-artwork front end, interior, and engine!

Thanks guys. It was fun to build, once I got past the few shortcomings. The exterior of the body and the chassis are good, the interior is terrible, detail-wise. It would be tough to make it replica stock, but I took it my own direction. (It's for a friendly build-off on another board). It's missing stuff that should be there (pedals, "jailbars", interior side panel details, deluxe belt-line trim is on the decal sheet), and other stuff is just wrong (wheels and tires are perfect for a Beetle-they are different for a bus). I still like how it came out. I'm hoping the new Revell of Germany kit is overall much better. David G. - Magic mostly...actually, I did the outer edges of the roof windows carefully with a black Sharpie marker, and the rest with a small brush and Tamiya Semi-Gloss Black.
