Awesome job on this car, I love it!
-
I just got this one rapped up this afternoon. I'm pretty proud of it, it was my first time ever polishing a paint job and I think it's not half bad. This is the re-issued MPC grumpy's vega. Upgraded with more accurate details, including the intake which came from the parts box. I adjusted the headers to make them correct for a SBC and put bigger collectors on them. The license plate was made with a pice of scrap plastic and a printed plate. I tried a new technique with the wheels where I put some matte clear on and some black-wash. I really like the effect. Here's the link to the WIP thread. https://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/191590-more-accurate-mpc-72-grumpys-vega/ Thanks for looking, and as always, comments are much appreciated. Elliot

Just saw a TANK on the highway. It was also on the back of a commercial truck and flatbed, nothin' military. Not somethin' you see everyday -

As you can tell by my name, I'm 100% a Ford guy, and a Ford race guy at that. Ford was not always focused with racing, but when they tried, they won. Like the 427 sohc that got banned from nascar for being TO good. I've been fascinated with Ford racing history since pretty much forever. Oh and that's why you will always find me saying, put a Ford in a Ford. And maybe just maybe a Ford in a Chevy.? -

WOW! That's a lot of amazing information! Right now I am experimenting with testors enamels. I just picked up there metal flake red, it looks amazing. This is the color I plan on painting my kustom 67 corvette by mpc. -
This project is looking great. Now I want this kit. But I have enough 57 chevys right now ?. Love the gold grill.
-
I love the color and wheels. Looking forward for more with this build!

Count me in to! I don't have my kit yet because Amazon has delayed it 3 times ?. When I get it I'll start messing with it.

I just tried to decan a little bit of rustoleum crystal clear enamel tonight. Thinned it down with regular old paint thinner, then sprayed it on a spoon scuffed up to 6000 grit. I gave it some heavy and medium coats and let it dry. After drying it turned out matte, after a little more drying I wiped it with my finger and it came right off?. What did i do wrong, was it the paint, thinner, or something else? I'm really curious on the topic of clears and primers now. ? Thank you all. -
I am trying my hand with airbrushing. I have watched several YouTube videos and tutorials, I think I have a basic understanding. I have also been messing around with watered down acrylic craft paints for my technique. If I get into doing this on my models which paints should I start off with for primer, color, and clear? I would love your knowledge in this subject?. Thanks, Elliot

Nice choice with the interior! The 57 chevy has the coolest of the tri five chevy interior.
