  1. Almond or I used Ivory on mine.
  2. Sweet, very nice job. Truck in the shop before a race, no decals?
  3. I knew there had to be money in there somewhere!
  4. Nice builds. Welcome, there's lots of great folks and good tips here.
  5. I don't understand why 'likes' on FB mean anything? Does it put more money in someone's pocket, that's why all the emphasis? Not just for ModelCars but every company / website / marketer wants more 'likes'. I don't get it, but then again I remember black & white TV !
  6. Not orange peel, grapefruit peel ! Looking forward to this, love the big boat Ponchos.
  7. Nice work on the chassis changes and seat. That's a great looking seat, I wonder where it comes from?
  8. Excellent job, great finish. I agree about the kit. I built one a couple years ago and it gave me fits.
  9. They came today! Many thanks to Mikes Decals, great service and great prices. I think I can combine both sheets and have just what I need. Now I just have to get in the mood again.
  10. Great start. Winged sprints are the most awe-inspiring sights on the track. I can't imagine trying to wrestle one around a 1/4 mile of dirt !
  11. Nice subtle weathering underneath, great truck.
  12. Love 50's Pontiacs! Nice job.
  13. I've seen tissue paper soaked in Elmers used, but never tried it. Sorta like paper mache? (sp?)
  14. I'm in the middle of nowhere here so there are no local shows/meets. I like the idea of emodelcars, just unsure about shipping. I'd sell all the kits for cheap $$ but I don't want to get stuck paying more for shipping than I get. What does it cost to ship, UPS vs USPS, insurance, etc? Patrick, I'll put together a list and PM you, see if there's anything you're interested in. Thanks
  15. I've been looking at my collection of unbuilt kits (spring fever you know) and there's a lot that I know I will never get to. What is anyone's experience with selling lots to outfits such as ModelExpress and the like, versus selling on eBay or Emodelcars. I'm not looking for a bonanza of cash, more to clean out the attic. I am a total newbie to selling anything on-line as far as shipping, etc and don't want to get in over my head or have it end up costing more than it's worth. Anyone care to share their experience? Thanks in advance!
  16. Harry hit it right. Different generations communicate differently. For those of us old enough to remember B&W TV, our parents didn't understand our obsession with the 'new media' and their parents didn't see the big fuss over radio. And now it's our turn to not understand . If you're standing still you're losing ground.
  17. Nice job. I loved these old Montes and Richmond was a great one to choose. Hope to see more!
  18. So I sit down last night to start the decals. I have to be in the right frame of mind for decals as they can be tough, and of course they're the most obvious thing to catch the eye on the finished build. I was going to start with the thin red stripe down the side that separates the white and yellow, but I'm looking at the sheet and the stripes are too narrow and have both red and yellow? Upon further investigation the 'Holly Farms' logos for the quarters are red instead of white! I've got the WRONG sheet! These are for the earlier car that was all white. This is the car I'm doing: I go online and at Mikes Decals he has 1 sheet left of Powerslides that seem to be the correct sheet, so I ordered that ($6, great deal). So in 2 to 5 days I'll be able to proceed. I'm bummed but whataya gonna do? I can live with details underneath being incorrect as few will see them anyway, but the body has got to be right! Hopefully more to come soon.
  19. Thanks Charlie. Rustoleum "American Accents" line, 'fossil' and 'espresso' for the interior.
  20. Nice. I like the Charger.
  21. It's the money. The only reason there is telephone service to many of these areas is because they're subsidized by the customers in the more densly populated areas. The FCC is currently trying to shift that subsidy over to broadband, with limited success. If you wish to live 40 miles from nowhere then you can't (or shouldn't) expect downtown services!
  22. Because they let them install cell towers everywhere around Denver. Here in VT it takes an act of god (AKA Bernie Sanders) and ten years for permits. Some ways its good, some ways not so much.
  23. Love Impalas. Great job!
  24. In my neck of the woods it's the mountains. The same reason I only get 3 FM stations and 1 TV channel over the air. Cable TV started in many of these areas for just that reason, no one could get anything off their antennas.
