  1. And today they seem huge in comparison. Times have changed
  2. Caprice was the full-sized Chevy while the Monte was a mid-size, built on the Chevelle platform. I wasn't aware they ever raced Caprices that late, they were boats. I had a '77 2 door, the first of the "down-sized" Chevies !
  3. Finally have had a chance to get back to this one. Most of the chassis and rollcage is complete, got the front & rear suspensions installed. I modified the brake assemblies to fit the wheels. I'm using 1/24 wheels/tires from a Monogram kit as I think they fill the wheelwells a little better. I basically sanded them flat on one side to glue to the wheel backs, and opened up the hub to fit the spindles. Stripped the chrome and painted the wheels silver, with the hubs painted steel and the lugs picked out with gold. Shabo transfers for the Goodyear lettering. With most of the greasy parts done, it's time to tackle the body. Thanks for looking, comments welcome as always.
  4. Looks like the end of Dodge in Cup? Chevies, Fords, and Yotas, plus maybe VW in the not to distant future? Back to the thread, Mark has built a great looking Dodge COT!
  5. The body paint for me too. Of course it's the most important/visible part, what draws people to the model in the first place. I enjoy the prep, cleaning up mold lines, laying on primer, going back to see what was missed. But those color coats just kill me. That and dashboards!
  6. Good luck. I'll be watching with interest. I would love to build a Nationwide Mustang or Challenger, those look really cool in my opinion.
  7. Whoops. Who else runs Dodge?
  8. User name is no mystery. I love Calvin & Hobbes, although I was seriously jealous of Harry's 59 Chevy tailight.
  9. No way!? Won't be many Dodges left, Ganassi? Didn't they get their engines from Penske?
  10. Cool, silk purse-sow's ear deal. I like the diorama backround and the jackstands. Did you build them or were they in a kit?
  11. Nice job on this one as well. 2 Petty cars at once. Keep diggin'.
  12. I followed these through the build, great job on both.
  13. Followed this during the build. Great job Mark! You are an artist with the decals as well as the styrene. Have you considered resin casting the body?
  14. Add my kudos, very nice job on a great subject!
  15. Nice job, clean build. Was that Biffle back then?
  16. Wow, very impressive.
  17. So I managed to make a little progress the last few days. Using the engine from the AMT Pontiac, OOB - just paint detailing. I can't bring myself to fully plumb an engine on a stock car when the hood is rarely lifted after it goes in the display case. I've also assembled and painted the rear suspension. 2 colors of springs to represent different rate springs used by the teams, color-coded. I cut down the seat from the newer car to represent the older style used back then. Also did some initial clean-up and got a coat of primer on the body. That's it for now, may get a chance to work on it more this weekend. Thanks for looking.
  18. Wow. 3 pages in one day over posting frequency?
  19. '56s had a slight "brow" over the windshield, sorta like a built-in visor and the windshield was a little more vertical and wrapped around the A pillar more. This is definitly a 53-55 cab. I had a 53 "Silver Anniversary" pick up when I was in the service many years ago and did a lot of research at the time.
  20. Nice score, hope you didn't pay through the nose for it. Look forward to seeing it in progress or finished (hopefully both).
  21. My '67 Chevy short-step runs a 250-6 with 3 on-the-tree.
  22. Very nice. I always thought the Firebirds were so much cooler than the Camaros, something about the nose.
  23. Very under-rated cars. They helped keep Ford in the game. Nice job on the replicas.
  24. Great start. I love these big Ponchos. Learned to drive in mom's '64 Grand Prix.
  25. Wow, thanks Tommy. Great site. That should help tremendously.
