  1. I think someone will take the plunge. If Dodge is serious about being in NASCAR (as it appears they are) they will find a team and work out the engine issue. I love the cars running in Nationwide now (the Mustang and Challenger) and NASCAR sees the advantage (about time!) of recognizable cars on the track, they want that for the Sprint Cup as well. I like the new Dodge, have always liked the looks of the Charger body style.
  2. I would and have built replicas for friends as gifts but would never build for commission. As Erik said, it then becomes a 'job' and I don't want this hobby to ever become work for me.
  3. Keep it going Mark. I know you'll do it justice. Who's car do you have in mind?
  4. Days of Thunder was Top Gun in race cars. Hokey, but as close as we've got to a movie about NASCAR. Tim Richmond also had a career in Indycars. Very talented driver. Looking forward to your build.
  5. Cool paint. Can't wait to see more. I think a G machine/lowrider would look great.
  6. LOL! Me too, the eternal optimist. This one took 1st in category in the one and only show I ever entered several years ago. This one is my favorite, took a concept to conclusion and actually scratchbuilt some parts!
  7. Great job! I love those big old Fords. Keep them coming.
  8. The 'before' pics are how most of my builds looked when I was a kid . What a great job in restoration!
  9. I like it. Love the lines of those Riv's. Great job on the interior.
  10. Love it. Those big Ponchos from the '60's are awesome. Great job. Those do represent the 8 lug wheels Pontiac was using back then. The center section was actually the brake drum with fins for cooling, while the wheel was kind of a 'wide 8' arrangement. My dad had a 64 Grand Prix with those wheels. Loved the look, hated rotating the tires .
  11. Great start. I love this kit, very well molded and detailed. I'm currently working on an Impala collection. Keep it going!
  12. Great tip Lanny, thanks! I'll have to try that on the next one.
  13. More progress. More tedious masking and shot the red stripe, baked overnight in the dehydrator. I'm pretty pleased with it. Normally I get at least one or two boo-boos where paint seeps under the masking and needs touch-up, but this one is looking good. I must be holding my mouth right Hope to start decaling tomorrow during the Nationwide race. Thanks for looking!
  14. I would suggest a search for 'sprint car' or the like. They don't really fit any of the categories, but you'll find them in workbench, under glass, etc. I've been lobbying for a "Racecar" category to replace NASCAR (even though that's my first love) but apparently it's not an easy or cheap process for Gregg.
  15. Absolutely. If you've got the body, the rest is a lot easier to kitbash/scratch.
  16. Excellent job! Decaling is first rate, nice engine compartment. I love this kit, I think they did a great job with it. Too bad all we have now is the COT snap from AMT.
  17. I know nothing about boats, but got the kit anyway. Is this what you're looking for? Sorry about the glare on the pic.
  18. Looks just as good in this section
  19. I don't know about the height of things, I just love cars! For me it's about cars I would love to own (if I was Jay Leno). Then it slowly became a skill to master, as opposed to throwing them together in 1 hour. I've gotten way more patient if nothing else, it is kind of like a Zen thing when I'm sanding or detail painting. I think it's also helped me in other areas of life, as the patience I've gained has helped with home improvement projects, projects at work, etc. Great question!
  20. Sweet build. Black is always tough, you did a great job. Hope to see more in the future!
  21. Great looking car, clean and tidy. Love it! Keep 'em coming.
  22. Thanks Chris, but I've added nothing but paint. All the detail is in the kit parts.
  23. And I thought 1/25 was small! Amazing work, are you a watchmaker by trade?
  24. Got some color on the body last night and today. The Tamiya went on real well and I let dry overnight. Today the tedious job of masking and laying on the white. I'm pretty happy with it so far. I'll bake it overnight in the dehydrator and be ready for the final red stripe. The pics show the yellow a little lighter than acual color. It's pretty close to the reference pictures I have.
