  1. Nice job. I loved these old Montes and Richmond was a great one to choose. Hope to see more!
  2. So I sit down last night to start the decals. I have to be in the right frame of mind for decals as they can be tough, and of course they're the most obvious thing to catch the eye on the finished build. I was going to start with the thin red stripe down the side that separates the white and yellow, but I'm looking at the sheet and the stripes are too narrow and have both red and yellow? Upon further investigation the 'Holly Farms' logos for the quarters are red instead of white! I've got the WRONG sheet! These are for the earlier car that was all white. This is the car I'm doing: I go online and at Mikes Decals he has 1 sheet left of Powerslides that seem to be the correct sheet, so I ordered that ($6, great deal). So in 2 to 5 days I'll be able to proceed. I'm bummed but whataya gonna do? I can live with details underneath being incorrect as few will see them anyway, but the body has got to be right! Hopefully more to come soon.
  3. Thanks Charlie. Rustoleum "American Accents" line, 'fossil' and 'espresso' for the interior.
  4. Nice. I like the Charger.
  5. It's the money. The only reason there is telephone service to many of these areas is because they're subsidized by the customers in the more densly populated areas. The FCC is currently trying to shift that subsidy over to broadband, with limited success. If you wish to live 40 miles from nowhere then you can't (or shouldn't) expect downtown services!
  6. Because they let them install cell towers everywhere around Denver. Here in VT it takes an act of god (AKA Bernie Sanders) and ten years for permits. Some ways its good, some ways not so much.
  7. Love Impalas. Great job!
  8. In my neck of the woods it's the mountains. The same reason I only get 3 FM stations and 1 TV channel over the air. Cable TV started in many of these areas for just that reason, no one could get anything off their antennas.
  9. I have a work-issued cell, but it doesn't work at my house or in my town. Rural area in central VT. There are still many areas of the country that have little to no cell service, that's why the 'gummint' is handing out big grants and trying to auction off the airwaves to get cell and 'broadband' access out to everyone.
  10. What are these 'texts' you speak of? No cell service in my area so I haven't succumbed yet. I suppose it's only a matter of time....
  11. LOL, I know right? I've got the Flock kit for the NASCAR. Looking around for decals, I think I want to do Marshall Teague's Hudson as I'll probably do the Chrysler 300 as Flock's car.
  12. Wow. A lot of work but it's coming along well. You'll have a 'one-of-a-kind' when you're done. You should inquire if a willing resin caster might be interested in using your master?
  13. Sweet build Harry. Those colors look just right!
  14. Very nice, love the color. Great job!
  15. Thanks everyone. Mike, it's Rustoleum 'Painters Touch' gloss Sage Green, with an Ivory top. I rattle can everything since I don't own an AB. I'm always prowling the hardware stores and Wallyworld for new colors. There is a surprising amount of choices on the shelves.
  16. Dealing with the public is tough, no matter the situation. I try to look at it from their perspective but that doesn't always help. Makes me wonder about their upbringing, privileged or not.
  17. Started the first of the year, finally finished it last night. OOB, only foiling added. Foiling was a bear around the side glass but otherwise this was a great kit to build. Thanks to Chuck Most for his building tips. My only gripe was I wish there was a more positive mounting scheme for the hood ornament. That was a nail biter! Thanks for looking!
  18. Not my 'cup-o-tea' but an awesome job! I just love the '59, excess to the extreme. Great job.
  19. Fast Freddie, huh? Thought that might be it. Keep us posted!
  20. Great idea! Maybe a small dio titled *%$#@.
  21. I think someone will take the plunge. If Dodge is serious about being in NASCAR (as it appears they are) they will find a team and work out the engine issue. I love the cars running in Nationwide now (the Mustang and Challenger) and NASCAR sees the advantage (about time!) of recognizable cars on the track, they want that for the Sprint Cup as well. I like the new Dodge, have always liked the looks of the Charger body style.
  22. I would and have built replicas for friends as gifts but would never build for commission. As Erik said, it then becomes a 'job' and I don't want this hobby to ever become work for me.
  23. Keep it going Mark. I know you'll do it justice. Who's car do you have in mind?
  24. Days of Thunder was Top Gun in race cars. Hokey, but as close as we've got to a movie about NASCAR. Tim Richmond also had a career in Indycars. Very talented driver. Looking forward to your build.
