  1. Absolutely. If you've got the body, the rest is a lot easier to kitbash/scratch.
  2. Excellent job! Decaling is first rate, nice engine compartment. I love this kit, I think they did a great job with it. Too bad all we have now is the COT snap from AMT.
  3. I know nothing about boats, but got the kit anyway. Is this what you're looking for? Sorry about the glare on the pic.
  4. Looks just as good in this section
  5. I don't know about the height of things, I just love cars! For me it's about cars I would love to own (if I was Jay Leno). Then it slowly became a skill to master, as opposed to throwing them together in 1 hour. I've gotten way more patient if nothing else, it is kind of like a Zen thing when I'm sanding or detail painting. I think it's also helped me in other areas of life, as the patience I've gained has helped with home improvement projects, projects at work, etc. Great question!
  6. Sweet build. Black is always tough, you did a great job. Hope to see more in the future!
  7. Great looking car, clean and tidy. Love it! Keep 'em coming.
  8. Thanks Chris, but I've added nothing but paint. All the detail is in the kit parts.
  9. And I thought 1/25 was small! Amazing work, are you a watchmaker by trade?
  10. Got some color on the body last night and today. The Tamiya went on real well and I let dry overnight. Today the tedious job of masking and laying on the white. I'm pretty happy with it so far. I'll bake it overnight in the dehydrator and be ready for the final red stripe. The pics show the yellow a little lighter than acual color. It's pretty close to the reference pictures I have.
  11. And today they seem huge in comparison. Times have changed
  12. Caprice was the full-sized Chevy while the Monte was a mid-size, built on the Chevelle platform. I wasn't aware they ever raced Caprices that late, they were boats. I had a '77 2 door, the first of the "down-sized" Chevies !
  13. Finally have had a chance to get back to this one. Most of the chassis and rollcage is complete, got the front & rear suspensions installed. I modified the brake assemblies to fit the wheels. I'm using 1/24 wheels/tires from a Monogram kit as I think they fill the wheelwells a little better. I basically sanded them flat on one side to glue to the wheel backs, and opened up the hub to fit the spindles. Stripped the chrome and painted the wheels silver, with the hubs painted steel and the lugs picked out with gold. Shabo transfers for the Goodyear lettering. With most of the greasy parts done, it's time to tackle the body. Thanks for looking, comments welcome as always.
  14. Looks like the end of Dodge in Cup? Chevies, Fords, and Yotas, plus maybe VW in the not to distant future? Back to the thread, Mark has built a great looking Dodge COT!
  15. The body paint for me too. Of course it's the most important/visible part, what draws people to the model in the first place. I enjoy the prep, cleaning up mold lines, laying on primer, going back to see what was missed. But those color coats just kill me. That and dashboards!
  16. Good luck. I'll be watching with interest. I would love to build a Nationwide Mustang or Challenger, those look really cool in my opinion.
  17. User name is no mystery. I love Calvin & Hobbes, although I was seriously jealous of Harry's 59 Chevy tailight.
  18. No way!? Won't be many Dodges left, Ganassi? Didn't they get their engines from Penske?
  19. Cool, silk purse-sow's ear deal. I like the diorama backround and the jackstands. Did you build them or were they in a kit?
  20. Nice job on this one as well. 2 Petty cars at once. Keep diggin'.
  21. I followed these through the build, great job on both.
  22. Followed this during the build. Great job Mark! You are an artist with the decals as well as the styrene. Have you considered resin casting the body?
  23. Add my kudos, very nice job on a great subject!
