Real slow on my end, too
-
Would have posted it sooner, but there was an issue with the tailights that I wanted to resolve once I got my supplies out. Originally completed March 7th, 2021, this is the third model I ever built. Another kit my dad picked up in the 90s.

LOOKING FOR... 1960 Plymouth Model kit
Falcon Ranchero replied to Falcon Ranchero's topic in Wanted!
Definitely a challenge, I knew that was going to be. The way I see it, I'd be satisfied if at least one of three things happen: 1) I do find the JoHan kit and build my dream car, 2) I get my hands on a Sunstar 1:18 scale '60 Plymouth, as there are plenty of those about, or 3) if I can find the 1:1 car to own and drive; last year one went for sale here in Ontario for $21,000; a red four-door '60 Fury with a 6 cylinder. Though all three choices seem relatively hard to get a hold of. -
Got a whole bunch of things done last night; completed the chassis and interior. Also prepped the body for the first paint colour, as it is going to be a two-tone treatment. Should be completed on Saturday, if all goes according to plan. The driveshaft was popped back into place, as it appears out of place in the photos.

Absolutely stunning; the colour and the overall appearence of the model. The 1960 Plymouth is my favourite car of all-time, be it a Fury, Belvedere, or Savoy. The fins get me. The car's like a space ship.

LOOKING FOR... 1960 Plymouth Model kit
Falcon Ranchero replied to Falcon Ranchero's topic in Wanted!
Those are such beautiful models you have there; that '60 plymouth was one of the ones on the forum that I saw and made me aware of the hardtop kit. Lots of good advice about the kit I'm looking for; I'll see what I can do on my end to make this happen. May just have to wait a little; not in a hurry to find one -
This kit comes with the big Hemi and the clear hood, but also an orange tinted transparent bubble hood. Definitely lots of options to choose from. I must say I like this kit so far; no issues to report ?

Just got some more done last night, namely, painting all the mechanical parts beneath, and assembling the wheels. I have also sprayed the interior; it is just white. I would have done a little more last night, but I had a setback with two of my other kits; I went to open the window for ventillation, and the piece of wood we keep as a second lock slipped out of my hands, rolled off the sill, and crushed my 1970 Bonneville Custom Sports Hauler, and my 1958 T-bird. And of course those were my vintage kits I paid collectively $90 for. Surprisingly, nothing major happened, just had to glue a couple things back on. I managed to assemble the front suspension last night, but I forgot the little pins, so I had to take it apart this morning and put them in and re-assemble it.

LOOKING FOR... 1960 Plymouth Model kit
Falcon Ranchero replied to Falcon Ranchero's topic in Wanted!
A lot of good suggestions and cautions, I appreciate it guys. What would be neat to have happen is if AMT bought the rights to the JoHan molds (sorta like when Hot Wheels bought Matchbox) and re-issued all the old kits; just because it seems JoHan made kits that other Model companies didn't make, and since the brand isn't around anymore, there's a whole other side of car kits that some modelers may never build, because all that's left are original 50+ year old kits, and not many of them. -
Those are really neat! I must say I am curious to see how mine turns out; I have a neat idea for it.
-
I have never built a Stude kit before, so this will be interesting... I was also really surprised that the paints still work; I mean my dad used them to paint his kits in the late '70s early '80s and managed to keep them and that paint carosel. Some still work like new, others just turn hard. I can imagine they were pretty cheap 40 years ago, but now they're a couple bucks. I had actually brush painted an entire car with that same gold paint, my 1971 Olds kit. It's somewhere in Model Cars under the title "Goldsmobile 442" if you'd like to see it.

LOOKING FOR... 1960 Plymouth Model kit
Falcon Ranchero replied to Falcon Ranchero's topic in Wanted!
I saw that one, and another one that came with the box, yesterday, I would imagine I could strip it down to bare plastic and build it up from scratch, but I wouldn't want to get into some bidding war over something that may not be all it appears to be, as it appears to have 6 bids on it already. There's a silver one that is just "Buy Now" the same price, though it appears to have less pieces, and in crappier condition. May just have to wait; not in a hurry to find one. -
Finally started building the 1953 Studebaker kit. Would've started it sooner but I burnt my finger on a hot screw a week ago yesterday, but it's all good now. This is the first kit where you'll see the progress. Directly below, this is my work area. That paint carosel is from 1979, and it sure is a blessing to have, as it holds most of the paint I need. Last night, I began sorting through the parts, looking over the instructions, and making a game plan. I had then painted all the engine parts. Surprisingly, this gold Testors paint from the early '80s is still good. This morning, the engine was assembled.

This Reher-Morrison Drag Camaro has remained assembled since 1983. My dad built this kit back in the day, and managed to keep it from destruction. The only thing he regrets is not painting it white, because now the plastic has faded beige. One may find this interesting, I almost forgot I have an actual photo from 1983 of my dad's room which depicts not only this Camaro (center), but the Monogram '69 Z/28 (left) and AMT Shelby "Snakebite" (right) from my other posts in Model Cars Under Glass that were also originally built in 1983, and this is the proof.

Pretty sure it's a '68. Another Palmer Plastics kit my dad picked up in the '90s. This kit is from 1972. Originally molded in light green, I wanted to make it similar to the box art, and so orange it became. Neat how in '72 you could get a motorized kit for $2.98. I built this a while ago, and I must say it is the most unusual kit i have; not only because the molding looks quirky, but because it's motorized and actually goes. It was funny reading the instructions because they want these 7 year old kids to get out their sautering kits and melt some wires together. Different time back then I guess. Anyway, this kit was interesting.

Almost forgot these little scale models; from Palmer Plastics that my dad picked up in the '90s. They're original 1970 kits, and the box art looks super cool but then you open the kit and it's like a major disapointment as they're very cheaply molded, and sorta awkward looking, but I made the best of them. For 39 cents in 1970 I guess that's the best you could get. The Cougar was already assembled by whoever originally owned the kits so I left it alone, but I had a little decal fun with the rest. My personal favourite is the T-bird.

Not the wagon but the two-door hardtop. It is my favourite car and so I was hoping to build my dream car out of it but since it's a JoHan model and the company doesn't exist, re-issues would never happen so finding an original 1960 Plymouth kit may be challenging. I noticed there is a couple 1960 Plymouth kits built on this forum, so I was hoping to have one as well. Would also be my first JoHan kit, too. If anyone knows where abouts of such a kit within driveable range,(Sault Michigan and surrounding area, or Sault Ontario and surrounding area) and one that is within affordible price range (a '68 Eldo JoHan kit at our local junk shop is going for $300!) would anyone let me know? I would deeply appreciate it.

Real sleek; liking the smooth lines?

Separated the wheat from the chaff here! Our local Rotary Fest car show last Friday was fantastic as our local Border Town Classic private collection was on display for all to see. Featuring muscle cars from Mecum, Barrett Jackson, and collected here and there when the cars were cheaper. Always drive past the building and see some dang nice cars through the glass garage door, but they're never out so this was a nice surprise. There's even a '68 Mustang Fastback looking like the Bullitt car, signed on the glove box by Steve McQueen!!! All these cars have standard shift, or most of them anyway.

Real nice! Saw it in the early stages; came out great?

Vintage-Style ads- original creations
Falcon Ranchero replied to Falcon Ranchero's topic in Auto Art
Those are really neat! Did you make those? The Edsel one is really nice? -
These ads were designed on Adobe Photoshop via my free time in Comm. Tech. class back in May/June. I took the photos of the cars as I saw them at car shows in 2023, and searched up their respective original advertisements, and "modernized" them, if that makes sense. Here are some of my favourites:

The Monkees' custom GTO is such a neat machine. It would be cool to have a model of it. Awesome job on thisun.

I am happy to be part of this forum; it's nice to share ideas and thoughts with like-minded people, as there are no kinds of model-related things or clubs around here.
