Good luck at the job fair, I know you've been looking to work, so I get the nerves. You seem like you've got a "good head on your shoulders", so I'll say you got this no problem. 👍

Good news with your brother, are they talking putting in a Stent or bypass? -
What Scared the Heck Outta You Today

He's lucky he's not dead. That artery is just about a water hose. I make it a point not to become complacent. When complacency occurs, that's when the bad stuff happens. The guy with the fireworks, well let's just say he wouldn't be doing that ever again, I'd kinda take that one personally. -

This is a steel cutting saw, much slower, but still dangerous. Had it gone worse case, I'd probably no longer be able to grow a thumbnail. I respect the equipment I work around, "YOU" are the softest thing in the shop. Mike, wood working equipment puts me in hyper focus mode like nothing else, I'm the only welder/mechanic from a family of construction and cabinetry workers. Those tools damage you horribly, and before you know it, it happens. Nathen,I've had my share of Xacto blade injuries, those are clean, quick cuts. Fortunately now, my hands are leather, they don't cut so easily. I use c.a. glue for any slices at work that doesn't require medical attention. That's just me, I'm a bit of a "savage". If you really want to laugh, I've set myself on fire and not realized it till I was finished welding the joint or grinding a plate. Just typical welder things. Always be mindful of a blade. That sounds like a gnarly cut, definitely not a fun time. -
What Scared the Heck Outta You Today

A mentally deficient office worker decided to run up and ask a question while I was making some intricate cuts in some aluminum on the vertical bandsaw. I jumped, and sent my thumb into the blade. Only caught the nail, thankfully. Somehow I managed to keep calm and not tear them a new one. And yes, I was using a push block. -

What did you see on the road today?
johnyrotten replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
They hand out tickets here for that. Laziness. -
Really cool idea, we'll done. Great choice on half of that body color 😀.

Thanks, it was either the slots or a set of torque thrusts. I found the slots first. This was the inspiration
-
Thank you, it was fun build, with some flaws. The rear bumper has some kind of warping that I've seen on others built from the same kit.
-
Yes, they are from iceman collections. I staggered the sizes. The rear was a very tight fitment.

A song of praise for the stash.
johnyrotten replied to Ulf's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Hopefully you're healing well, broken bones and the immobilization that goes along with it is not fun. You are 100 percent correct on a balanced stash, getting out ones comfort zone is a good way to improve at the hobby. By the way, I've looked at a few of your builds, beautiful work. -
De-laminating windshield ideas needed
johnyrotten replied to johnyrotten's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Thanks everyone for the excellent excellent ideas. "Fogging" it with c.a. glue did cross my mind, liquid solvent is even better. I have a cheap airbrush I could sacrifice if cleaning it becomes impossible. Do you think the o-rings in the hold up to the solvent, M.E.K. is pretty nasty stuff as i understand it. Thedullcoat and flat clear ideas, no chance of ruining an airbrush, that's a plus. It looks as if I'm going to pick up some clear acetate for some experiments. Thanks again, everyone, for the suggestions and getting my brain rolling on this. Much appreciated. -
Some deer musk will stink to high heaven. Or bait some skunks into the area. All natural and can't really point the finger at a human if nature is doing nature things. You'll just be "helping out".

Looking to try and mimic a de-laminating windshield. I've found ideas for everything else "glass" related, nothing on this. I'm thinking careful masking, and a bit of light airbrush work to make it "fade". Maybe. I've got no clue what paints/tints would be best(probably tamiya), or if this is feasible. This is what I'm looking to do. It's all flat glass so replacement is simple, not afraid of mistakes here. Thanks in advance.

I've lived in this area just about 15 years, have had my house for almost 9. I've seen that "slow creep" of the city moving up, and the garbage that goes with it. Horrible the situation you're talking about, attempts at home invasion, hopefully you have a decent police department, and your neighbor is ok. Shaken up obviously. The health department probably says they can't make them leave, only offer assistance. Which they obviously do,encouraging them and not helping the situation.

I've got a particular disposition wen it comes to thieves. There's a motel a few miles from me that recently started housing the degenerate side of society, by that I mean the really awful side. Since that's been going on There's an upswing in begging at stores, theft and drug arrest. I live right on the edge of town, secluded, and still put up four cameras on the property. The gas cap is cheap insurance and peace of mind.

1941 Willy's Pickup
johnyrotten replied to Zippi's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Good save with the hood. That big block really stands out in the pictures. I like the "less flashy" look of it against that body color. The white headers set it off perfectly. -
I would have snagged the classic car "tucker" mag in a heartbeat. I'd love the kit, but the only one I've found is big money, for a kit anyway. Great finds, great deal.

Thank you. It's a little difficult for me to not go overboard. I'm trying for just "enough". The weathering gets "more" rear to front as if it was partially tarped or under a lean-to. I don't have any reference pictures I'm using, just everything I've ever seen in rural New York. I appreciate your compliment. -
Usually it's the other way around, isn't it. 😂👍👍

Thanks, it's a tedious process, at least for me. I'm actually using real rust, "gluing" it down with createx, then light airbrush work and dry brushing before a dull coat sealer. I'm working backwards, to make it appear like the rust was hastily rattle canned over. The wood bed floor is darker in person, the lights on my booth "blows out" cellphone cameras. -
Fantastic idea keeping true to the time period of the concept. "Sport models" weren't full blown "supercar" effects kits in the 90's. I like where going with it. The idea from the viper is probably what would have been done if this was actually built. I'm really enjoying watching this come to life. Looking forward to what's next.👍👍

Got the rusting finished, tedious process to say the least. Hung the door panels and tried to get a good photo. Next time I'll try opening the doors. Made the bed floor, I've got 60something imitation bolts to make now. I used coffee stirrers, alcohol ink and a gray wash. There's gonna be a change in the drivetrain department, the flathead from iceman collections with the frenzel. The kit motor just looks like a lump, and everything is wide open on this truck. Maybe it'll get a quick change out back.
