  1. I picked up an unstarted Lindberg Dirt Modified kit from eBay last week and it arrived this weekend - I couldn't wait to get the shrink off the box and check it out - I've never seen one of these old oval cars before in scale They have about 50 parts and there's two kits in the box - the bodies on these things are TINY - I'm building the white car from the box there. I guess it's meant to represent a 60s dirt track car based on a 32 or 33 Ford maybe? The chassis goes together really quickly and is nicely moulded with minimal flash - a quick run over with a nail file was all it needed to get this thing pretty close. The body is two parts, with the top half of the roof and part of the rear pillars as a seperate piece - it'll need a little filler to get the seams perfect but it shouldn't take too much work: I'm not too sure on colors yet for the paint, but something appropriate for the era, with some simple numbers and lettering like they would've run in back in the day.
  2. I think Roadkill's still on, and on it's regular schedule - you can choose to watch them early with their paid service but they still put them up for free online
  3. A Coke bottle, or similar, will shrink like heatshrink when hit with a heatgun - if I was trying to do this I'd try and make a little wooden buck with some louvres on, shrink the bottle over it and cut the panel out. The plastic wouldnt be a million miles from scale thickness and an Exacto blade would open them up real easy. I used to make front and rear wings for 1/10th scale model R/C buggies that way - worked a charm!

  5. Just what I was thinking! Looks great so far tho!
  6. Thanks David! Thats kinda what I was thinking too - I want it to be GOOD, but not dipped-in-clear-coat good Starting to piece the chassis together...
  7. I used a Micromart polishing cloth set and some Tamiya polishing paste - I've got it pretty close I think, and I'm gonna add some Tamiya finishing wax and see how it all looks. I dont need it show-car shiney, but I dont want it all bumpy either.... In the meantime, a quick bit of fabrication to replace a bent, injector pin marked steering rack and I'm ready to paint the last couple of bits before assembly...
  8. What an inspirational build! I love it! Keep us posted please!
  9. GREAT work on those parts so far - I LOVE it!
  10. Just plain old Elmer's glue Mark - seems ok so far, although I'll admit I dont intend on handling the tub too much. Meanwhile, polishing chores continue here...I wish this paint had laid down a little smoother from the get go, but it's getting there...
  11. Not much progress, I'm stuck on polishing duties at the minute. It's kinda getting there, slowly...
  12. Skip, it sounds like you're a wonderful person. Some people AREN'T as wonderful, but dont let that jade you.
  13. Nice save on the paint there! I wish I could get one of my GOOD paintjobs to go as well as this one that you struggled with
  14. It looks like your masking is ok, and the design is cool - but it looks like some of the bascoat pulled when you removed the tape (did you key the surface and use some primer) and the paint application looks a little thick maybe? It may need several lighter coats maybe? Hope you don't mind some feedback - but I've done PLENTY of paintjobs I wasn't happy with and found that these things helped me, personally...
  15. I LOVE it, so far! Looks great!
  16. Yeah, how big IS it? I've been trying to work it out! Looks small!
  17. Thanks everyone! I need to give the paint a polish now that it's had a couple of days to set up, but in the meantime used a little embossing powder to give her some carpet Now to see how shiny I can get that orange-peely paint...
  18. That's a great one! I've done that too! In fact, this whole thread is great! I'd love to hear more if anyone has any. I quite like using paperclips for things - theyre great for pinning parts together, making small metal brackets or lines - tonnes of possibilities!
  19. Are there build threads for these Kenn? I'd love to see more of them coming together!
  20. Those are AWESOME! I'd love to see a build thread on both of those!
  21. What a great looking build! I never saw a Cobra wagon before!
  22. This looks great so far - I'll be interested to see how you tackle the suspension and that drop. I wanna see a build thread for the Porsche too!
  23. Great looking build so far! I'll be watching!
  24. Cool idea with the syringe trick - cant wait to see it!
