What did you see on the road today?
Joe Nunes replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Unusual indeed, given the age and type of vehicle, the current registration, open location and its been sitting there for some time now. Perhaps asking law enforcement to take a careful look would not be seen as overstepping, especially in today's society. ? Joe -
Very good advice. ? Joe

Haven’t forgotten this build, folks, just got caught up in working on another model project that I thought I could finish quickly. Ya, right! ???? Now that I have my head on straight again it’s back to the bench with this one…at least for part of the time…that’s the plan…for now anyway. ?? Joe

While downstairs working on a model this morning, and letting my eyes wander around as is usually the case, I once again thought about the one model kit I would really like to build again. It’s been years since I built an AMT 1928 Ford Sedan during my teenage years, however, I think about it quite often as it was the only model my late Dad ever said anything about. The model was built hot rod style and painted red with black accents, the only two colors I had to my name at the time. Dad was never a “friend” and later in his life I didn’t like him, or his ways, at all. However, the memories of this one occasion where he actually showed some positive interest in what his son was doing, along with the actual liking of the ‘28 Ford Sedan model, has remained with me for all these years. This AMT 1928 Ford Sedan kit is my personal “holy grail” kit, and, perhaps one day I will find an affordable kit in good condition and build it again for old times sake before checking out. So, what is the ONE model kit that you would like to have in your kit collection as the “holy grail” ? ? Joe Edit: sorry for not having a photo of this kit. Tried to upload one from the web and wasn’t successful at this point. ?

Thank you for the photos, Lee! The truck/trailer combinations with different livery work nicely with your train layout and look good with the vehicles and buildings on your layout. Trains...always thinking about building an N gauge RR from the era of 1850 - 1950. Alas, too many hobby interests as it is and, most likely, not enough breath to finish the projects I already have. Thanks again, my friend. ?? Joe Also: having driven the big rigs cross country, which included auto transporters, vans and LNG tanker, I can't imagine what it must have been like hauling a trailer around without air breaks on the trailer wheels. Yikes! ??? Joe

Dealing with the suffering from Dementia
Joe Nunes replied to NYLIBUD's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
I am experiencing this situation with my bride of nearly 54 years come next May 3rd. Watching Joyce go through some rough times is very hard on me as I am sure it is with her. Zoloft helps both of us but doesn't take care of the heartache. Make the most out of the good days and do the best you can for your loved ones on those bad days. One of the hardest things I face with this is the fact that I can recall all of the good and the bad, Joyce however usually recalls little of the rough moments and will often deny the severity of the situation even if she does. Never argue with someone who has dementia as you most likely will only make the person more agitated, belligerent, or even downright mean. Dementia, or Alzheimer's, is tough for both the person having it and the caregiver who is having to watch a loved one slowly slip away. Joe -
Wow! Very nice looking model and it sure looks good in your color combination. Well done! ? Joe

We have an ACE Hardware store nearby that is also a U-Haul rep. They have clean newsprint paper in individual boxes with multiple sheets. I think the paper is 24" x 36" in size. Something like this would make a good liner; tape the sheets where required and replace when you need to. ? Joe
