Nostalgia Fuel Dragster--Blower Manifold (01/28/23)
Joe Nunes replied to Straightliner59's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
I am really enjoying this build! Always some amazing model construction coming to light, and in metal yet. ?? Joe -
One of my favorite cars wearing a nice color choice. Glad you were able to build this model and enjoy the memories, too. Well done! ? Joe

I would like to think that building something similar to this nice looking model is a great way to relax and enjoy the hobby without bringing some of the complications, I seem to invite, to my workbench. Looks like you had a fun time with this one. Well done! ? Joe

MY DAD’S SURVIVOR AMT’S 1937 CHEVY “THE GAS MASTER “
Joe Nunes replied to M W Elky's topic in Drag Racing
Great background story and even better that you have a model like this that your Dad built as a young boy. Nice to see you maintaining this model as it was built. ? Joe -
Started to clean the cab framework rear axle piece and noticed the driveshaft was molded in an unrealistic rectangular shape with rounded corners when viewed end wise. Decided to snip off the kit driveshaft and replace it with a piece of round aluminum tubing. I cut the tubing to the required length to match the kit piece, sanded the aluminum tubing ends square, sanded the tubing ends to a rounded edge, fit the tubing to the transmission end of the engine, and then cut down and made a round insert nubby at the axle end to fit inside the new aluminum tubing driveshaft. Then I sanded the aluminum tubing and rounded the driveshaft attach area kit plastic so it looks better. Nothing really earth moving here, however, I think the change will make the axle/driveshaft/engine combination look a bit more convincing. Now to get back to work and finish cleaning up the axle piece. ? Joe

Improved Lighting & Magnification Options?
Joe Nunes replied to nitrojunkie's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
Thought I would post a heads up: I purchased two Honeywell LED 4' shop lights (at Sams) to replace two regular shop lights over my model room workbench. A huge improvement in lighting; much brighter working conditions now. Only paid $18/shoplight which includes the bulbs. Money well spent. ? Joe -
Sorry to read about this with your dog, Jeff. Always hard to see a family pet go through something like this. Hope it all works out good for your dog. Joe

Today is a blue sky and full sun day in Up North Michigan albeit 32 degrees or so. Joyce is having a real good day so I asked her if she would like to take a Winter drive around the Leelanau peninsula. We enjoyed good driving conditions, beautiful Lake Michigan scenery, a real nice lunch at Empire, MI and very little traffic as compared to the Summer season. All and all, a great day with my bride enjoying the local area. ? Joe

Never really cared for the original paint scheme on this car, however, your color combination brings the design out in a much nicer way in my humble bumbled opinion. Well done! ? Joe

Funny thing about this kit is that while I am spending quite a bit of time on getting the parts ready to assemble and paint, I find myself enjoying the process. The darn thing is appealing to me, almost "cute" in its own way, and I really like pausing to look at the box art. Yepper...just like being a kid again and I am good with that. ? Joe

That's interesting and looks good. What kind of fine point paint pen did you use? ? Joe
