Probably one of, if not THE, finest drag racing model I've ever seen. That first picture with the background could easily pass for the real thing. Did you make the fuel tank from aluminum, or is that a kit part painted? The only thing I would consider is at some point re-doing the front tires. I have no idea why Revell engraved "Frontrunner" on those.....the REAL Frontrunners say either "Goodyear", "Goodyear Eagle", or nothing at all....at least all the ones I'VE ever seen. Beautiful model!

Which F Body Pontiac
roadhawg replied to Nick Winter's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
While that is true about the insurance companies and the gas crisis, I wouldn't say mid-70s Pontiacs were junk. Pontiac DID have the last hurrah in 74 with the SD455 in the Formula.....13:45 in the quarter mile off the showroom floor, in 1974....smog motor. With a little tweaking, mid 12s were easily possible. Nick, I voted for the Formula too. -
1992 Lincoln Mkiii - Full Built With Thunderbird Parts
roadhawg replied to CustomFreak's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Considering what you have there, its looking great! The problem with the pro-street body, however, is that everything from the rear edge of the doors on back is not exactly proportioned right....I think they tooled the body to fit an existing pro-street chassis. Like George said, the rear wheelwells are too far forward, the quarter windows are too short....the entire quarter panel needs to be be lengthened here and there. Still, I've seen street conversions like this done, and they DO end up looking good. Good luck! I'll keep an eye on this for sure! -
My my my.....that makes ME want one too! Beautiful!

Using my own bug against me..... -
Colby, Modelhaus lists that as a complete kit. Its a little pricy, BUT, #1, you won't need a doner kit, #2, it'll be top quality, and #3, you'll have something you don't see very often. http://www.modelhaus.com/index.php?c=4151&p=63692

Way back before there was Facebook, I was a member of the social networking site Yahoo 360. I was there for about 4-5 years, blogging and acting crazy, and my friends and I had a great time there. Yahoo closed 360 earlier this year, so it doesn't exist anymore, and trust me, Facebook isn't NEAR as much fun.....but last year, before 360 closed, my friends and I made a little Christmas video to share. I got this crazy idea after hearing the Muppets version of "The 12 Days Of Christmas".....Myself and 11 of my friends from 360 doing "The 12 Days Of Christmas". I had each of them email their respective clips and then I spliced them all together. We ended up with a musical version of Frankenstiens monster. So here we are....our Christmas gift to you......my old Yahoo 360 friends and me, with our version of "The 12 Days Of Christmas". Enjoy! And Merry Christmas!

Thanks, guys. Yes, these are nice kits, and I might build another soon. The only thing I would do differently is get a set of Slixx decals. Lee...I'm not sure what you mean, but the kit is more like the old Revell ASA kits than a Nascar kit.

My local club, The Georgia Mountain Modelers, recently had a group build project called "The Georgia Connection".....we could choose any subject we wanted, as long as it had something to do with our home state of Georgia. Since I don't have any road racing cars in my collection, I chose to build the 1993 Hot Wheels Camaro driven by 1992 SCCA Trans Am champion Jack Baldwin, of Marietta Georgia. While our project didn't have any rules as far as detail level, I decided to build mine box stock, to conform to IPMS OOB rules. The only thing that didn't come in the kit, other than paint, are the seat belts made from masking tape, which I understand is legal for OOB. This is really a nice kit. I was intimidated at first, but once all the mold lines and ejection marks are cleaned up, it goes together very well. The only issue I had was the decals....these Revell decals weren't very good to start with, and time had not been kind to them. After a few chipped and broke, I decided to weather the car to look like it just finished a tough race....that might explain the chipped decals. This was a fun build, and building it OOB made me realize I need to work some more on my basic building skills. The best thing is....I actually finished a club project early!

Dealing with snowy weather
roadhawg replied to Simon's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I travel all over the United States, so I get to deal with all of it, but I live in the south. Around here, it IS a big deal....people are actually afraid they'll die if they don't get to the store for milk and bread. (The longest I've ever been snowed in here was 1 day...) In all fairness though, we usually get ice, not snow.....or at least a mixture of the two. Its much more difficult dealing with ice than snow. My ex-father in law (from Michigan) used to laugh at me, and say 'You southern boys just can't drive in the snow, can you?"....to which I'd answer "No, we can't...but Y'ALL can't drive when its DRY....and it's dry WAY more than it snows!" -
A good Question for Gregg?
roadhawg replied to Nick Notarangelo's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I wonder how much of that advertisers would be willing to pay? -
Huge difference. Japanese kits practically fall together. Very well engineered. Think Tamiya. Chinese kits are for the most part junk.....they just turn out anything to make a buck.

SPEED, o lovely SPEED
roadhawg replied to Nick F40's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
It used to be. It's not anymore. All todays Nascar fans are from up north. Heck, Ward Burton is the only driver I can understand anymore. -
Very nice! Like railfreak78 said, most Talledega's are built as race cars. You did a great job on this one!

Ahem...... Lol! You owe me one meelion dollars!

Best/Worst Winter Vehicles!
roadhawg replied to Chuck Most's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Lol!!! Thats funny right there, I don't care who ya are. We don't get that much snow in Georgia, its usually ice, but the worst car I ever had was an '81 Citation. If anyone pee'd within a quarter mile of it, it would get stuck. The BEST was a '71 Pinto. That lil' car would go anywhere, anytime! -
SPEED, o lovely SPEED
roadhawg replied to Nick F40's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Dunno.....I grew up in the deep south and believed Nascar was a religion, up to a certain point......nowadays, its a dog and pony show. Its all about money....who can sell the most product. When rookies can compete equally with, and usually BETTER than, seasoned veterans, the driver is no longer part of the equation. -
Need help naming this model

George, I think thats just the way the console is molded. The part below that chrome strip is actually supposed to be part of the floorboard, and should be carpeted. The part above the chrome strip is the actual console. Looking great so far!
