  1. Hey Ron, is the Timothy S. Boyd that signed your SVT certificate Funman1712?
  2. I've had the pond do stuff to dupli-color primer, it made the thin areas sort of act like it would if you were wiping down a steel body with lacquer thiner.
  3. Problem #1, quoted directly from his website "I learned to weld because my father had amassed a huge collection of ####, and when he died I felt I had to do something with it!" Problem #2, Mental illness can be inherited.
  4. None that I know of. I've always wanted to have a kit of it, though!
  5. I wonder if the guy that did this knows about the Druid Princess. That thing is hideous. The PT, not the custom car.
  6. Try using bare metal foil on the bucket before you insert the lens, also it looks like it needs another coat of clear red. You could substitute plain old aluminum foil and spray adhesive for the bare metal foil.
  7. Tom, I thought I had the corner on those Rancheros with 4 of them. Seems I'm just an amateur.
  8. Interesting. When I was 14, my paper route afforded me the luxury of buying 20 plus kits in a one month period if I so desired. Today that would be more close to 100, however, back then there was no rent, no utilities, no car insurance, no food, you get the idea. So its probably all relative. What does irritate me is the 50% to 100% increase in costs since I returned to building 7 to 10 years ago.
  9. That Nova is pretty cool Tom. It would look real great next to one of those loony styline Rancheros.
  10. They were going for about $100 unbuilt on ebay once. I picked up this rough glue bomb for about $50 and considered it a deal. Of course shortly after, it was reissued. I have a few of the reissues now and its a pretty decent, if outdated, kit. AMT did some weird funny cars back then.
  11. It looks a whole let better without that roof, and with a slightly chopped windscreen. I think someone here is doing this:
  12. Yikes, agreed, if it was me I would think its time to go.
  13. I like the tinted windows too, not seen since the "Elegance" series in the late 60's.
  14. I find it fascinating to take someone's old model, clean it up, and display it. Sort of an artifact. I like to imagine a young kid decades ago at his kitchen table putting it together, and then the sense of pride and accomplishment he must have gotten. And then the stories that kit could tell.
  15. Great to see you here. When in early recovery we need to find something positive, or creative, to avoid the boredom. I hope models and this forum helps you in your journey. Remember one day at a time and that this is a great adventure!
  16. It would be interesting to put her in Johnson's car, and him in hers, run 20 laps each, and see the results.
  17. That Shell commercial was fantastic, the exhaust notes raised the hair on the back of my neck! Then we have the sound of the 2014 F1, not so much. Reminds of those IRL Dallaras.
  18. A 1972 Pantera new from the dealer. Oh, and Carole Stern.
  19. Thanks Bill. Your comment "you'll notice what look like blowers UNDER the bottom plate of the airbox. I believe these are the REAL blowers that allow this thing to run. They appear to be in the normal location, and would explain how the engine can run with the entire side of the top-mounted airbox open" describes what I was thinking but didnt have the words or knowledge to describe accurately.
  20. Did anyone notice in that vid, around the 2:25 mark, the covers on the drivers side airbox are missing? Also, if you look closely in the still pics posted, you can see the opposite side of the airbox just past the driveshaft and flange bearings. So how does the fuel mixture reach the cylinders?
  21. I went to Smart and Final today. So Im standing in line and the lady in front of me has a Drumstick ice cream cone. Quick and easy, right? Well the price comes up $3.89. So the lady complains, and the cashier goes to check. He comes back and says that is the price. She complains again. He goes a second time to the shelf, comes back, and again says its $3.89. She asks for the manager. He comes, does his thing, and says Yep, thats the price, and no, its not for a six pack of them. Neither of those morons bothers to acknowledge that in no way can one single Drumstick ice cream cone really cost that much. All of this lasted about 7 minutes. I only blew a few of my corks. And she left without her ice cream.

Website would indicate they are still open. http://www.scalemodelsupplies.com/html/slotcars-124.html Scale Model Supplies 458 Lexington Pkwy N Saint Paul, MN 55104 (651) 646-7781 Tracks: Engleman Tri-oval Drag strip Notes: 1) Carries HO, 1/32, and 1/24 slot cars and parts 2) A full-line hobby shop specializing in model railroading 0 Quote MultiQuote
  23. I love the LSR version, I had never seen that before. As for the supersonic, not so much. Too sad so bad.
  24. Welcome. I'm another one here with disability. I hadn't built a model in over 20 years, but sheesh, 38 years for you? Thats a long time!
