  1. started with a firefighter kit. i have changed the side quarter windows since this was taken.
  2. i'm assembling a pe flex fan, whats the glue to use to attach the blades?
  3. those decals are tough arn't they, i did the kei office silvia and when i opened the box and saw the sheet, i decided to not use them.
  4. looking really good! any underhood shots? first time i've ever seen a gloss black hood, usually they are cf or flat.
  5. looks like ill have to wait until after work... thanks for the coffee guys, see you tonight.
  6. pass some of that coffee this way, looks like it might be a wait...
  7. this stuff is awesome, ive heard of it for years and years, just never bought any. now that i have, wow! i love this stuff. instantly set any super glue/CA. like right now. no more waiting and hoping it has set up, just spray and go. do they sell this stuff by the gallon?
  8. from what i heard (read) the fnf kits are horribly inaccurate, (i really want a supra) but they do come with some cool "extras" if you are into parting kits out.(nitrous tanks, etc...) i was told to get a tamiya and do it right. looks like ross didnt have any issues though, nice build!
  9. i have to agree, the wheels sure dont match the light reflection. thats for sure.
  10. Looks great Frank and Tim Horton's coffee is a great reward in itself. i wish we had one down south here. when i get up towards home (Cleveland Ohio) i like to hit the one on 77, i actually drive out of my way to get it.
  11. hey Mitch, welcome to the madness! you can get lacquers at your local auto parts store along with primer and clear and sandpaper and polishing compounds and fillers (bondo) i buy 98 percent of my paint supplies from there. most of us prefer duplicolor sandable primers and prime most everything before painting. they have black, white, high build gray and a red oxide, also pick up a pack of plastic spoons from the grocery store to practice on, they are made from the same materials as the kits are. they are great later down the road as well to test shoot a color on to see how the paint is gonna look before spraying your hard work. 99% of the lacquers you are going to get are acrylic lacquers and they will require a clear coat for that super deep gloss (although there was just a discussion about not clearing black because it polishes out better without it.) testors has a line of what they call one shot lacquer but the name can be misleading here. i painted 1:1 cars for a long time and nothing worth its finish covers in one coat. hopefully we havent confuzzled you too much with this wealth of info here, these are just basic guidelines really. we all have are own techniques and tricks which you will pick up and develop into your own eventually. good luck, now go paint some spoons!!!
  12. and most time we are even family "safe" welcome, my 3 yr old son likes to build with me too, even though he hasnt completed a build yet, but he's trying.
  13. in ohio the guy on the right has the right of way and here in illinois where we now reside its the left.(missed that one on my real test.) i got the fire truck one only because my neighbor is the fire chief and has his rig parked in front of my house all of the time. i also flipped the trucker the bird (thats just me). this test would be a bit more appropriate if we had national driving guidelines instead of a few clowns on every local city council "adjusting" the rules to suit their situation. btw i got a c+ on this one
  14. what?!? no bell hose?? looking real good ron, i still want one of those mrc kits.
  15. thats what i get for growing up gear headed, i wasnt into sports in school. unless you consider motorsports. ;)
  16. hi craig! i like to use masking tape, i get the blower wrapped up the way i want it then brush paint it with testors enamal flat black miced with some gloss black, to keep the tape texture and give it a nice sheen.
  17. very nice. is aoshima the type of co. that will rectify the lack of rear tire width?
  18. WOW! thats like 3 wks. inna row fer me.
  19. it may be easier to pop the louvers before shaping the deck lid?
  20. congrats, looks like you got it!
  21. there are a couple different schools on this subject. some say to never sand a suspension coat, ie metallics, pearls, etc... but i found from painting 1:1's that you can as long as there is going to be another suspended coat over it.(example- say a blue metallic coat has a hair, dirt ball, whatever in it. you can sand out the imperfection very carefully trying not to cut completely through your color. just enough to remove your imperfection. then re coat as necessary. then clear.) method #2 if you need to sand/scuff for another color, graphic etc... shoot the subject with an inter coat clear which is very thin to "seal" the previous layers once it dries you can block it out with high grit wet paper at least 1200 grit and tape and shoot over that. hope this helps, if I'm not clear enough lmk and ill go further.
  22. was this a fresh body or a respray? what primer did you use?
  23. a few things said model to me. 1 is the horrible photoshopped shadow in the front. 2 the apparent lack of any type of camber/toe in the suspension. 3 there looks like a wad of wax inside the roof scoop.
  24. heres what i could find about it. Includes 4 highly detailed engines: Chrysler 392 Hemi, Pontiac 421, Corvair 145, Chevy 283, and chrome grilles from over a dozen 50's-60's cars. which cars, i dont know?
