  1. Very cool looking Jairus ---and you get to watch it go round & round too!
  2. Got a few moments today to do a bit of a mockup. Body's gonna sit a lot lower, probably similar stance, just not raked as much once them rear fenders are opened up. Still not sure what kinda chop to put on that roof ...... .....probably just whack it off and then see .
  3. Hey HotRod, I think one of the biggest mistakes peeps make when painting flames on model or real cars is that they 'forget' what the background color, the color of the car is. Not that they 'forget'--it's just that with the color of the car covered up by the masking while the flames are being sprayed on, it's kind of hard to visualize how the colors and/or transparency of the flame relates to the car color. I've gotten so into the blending of the colors and just kept going coz it was such a cool experience, then when I pulled the tape off-- ! looked like bad words . I've seen cars at cruises that obviously the owners did their own flame jobs, and it showed, mostly because of what I've already said. They simply over-did the painting of the flames, and the contrast between the flames and the car color was just too harsh, and if the layout, the shape of the flames aint just so, that bad paint job just magnifies all those imperfections. What I've done is have a color card, or another part of the car with the color that the flames are going to show against, and while painting the flames, hold that color card (or piece) next to the masked flamed area so the difference can be seen clearly. Like Peter L. said, "practise, practise, practise..." and I add "light coats, light coats, light coats". Easy to make it more opaque or intense---really hard to do the opposite.
  4. Hmmm......goodly question 'bout the scale George. Purty sure yer big rear end won't fit in it! Methinks it's probly closer to 1/12 than anythang else, but the big turn on fer me is the scratchbuilding of the parts, and I just might build it up Zinger-style, so scale be out the window anyhows. I already gots a huge stash of drinky straws, sheet styrene, and lotsa sprue and if'n dat don't work, I always gots lots of wood. Thanks anyhows for the offer.... ...you ever buildem up any them 12s or 16s? I done did a 1/12 fittyseven chebby years ago---no idea where it am now
  5. Did a little work on "SKWIRLY" on the computer this morning, hoping the wind gusts don't knock the power out--so far so goodly. Still not sure how far I wants to go detail-wise on this, but then I didn't plan on putting all that detail into my Li'l T, neither
  6. That 'shine' is from rubbing the grease off their hands onto their jeans, Harry . Used to leave a spot wherever I sat . Oh man, Mj---that is sweet. Brings back memories. I had a four door 57.......uh, 40 years ago, and after blowing up the straight 6, it sat many days like yours is sitting here. Learned a lot, swapping out the 6 and putting a V8 in. Are those Astros on it? Back then, seemed most guys ran either Cragar SSs or Astros.

    94 impala

Man! tha's lookin really clean, dude. Absolutely superb colour combo, that. With all your hearse & ambulance builds, whatta ya think about makin a lowridin limo outa the other 6 Imps? You can do it, E---tha'd be sooooo cool . oy: almost forgot--you get you a new camera or what? awesome pics
  8. OH BOY! I done went and did it again.........I shoulda remembered that you got that radar on there in Deeteroit, George! I do gotta explain that remark about yer big rear end to all the wonderful peeps who might be wonderin . George & I made a deal some time ago and I wound up with a 1/8 scale '32 Roadster WIP, which I aint got around too, (hard to get around his BIG rear end ---sorry George! I just can't resist!) Probably best just to say goodnite.........
  9. Thanks guys. Not only nice to have the satisfaction of finishing this and just enjoying looking at it, also nice that yinz guys like it too. I appreciate that.
  10. Ah, inspiration.........so much from looking at other's builds on this here forum. Found this 'bug' in a Salvation Army store, and it's been sitting around waiting for me to do something with it for quite some time. Kept walking past the chopper bicycle and wondering if both wheels are the same , coz they'd look way cool on the front of some dragster. Also, from a bad day, when I went to Dollar General and bought almost $100 worth of 'toys' coz they had really cool looking wheels on them, pretty sure the big tires with the brown rims are off a quad. Checked out the wheels on the bike, and they're both the same, so I'm good to go with them. Took one of the quad tires down to the disc/belt sander and offed the tread--- slicks! Looked thru my stash for biggie Zinger type engine parts-- looks like I'm gonna have to scratch them, maybe use George's big rear end? Shot a pic of the buggy body into my 'puter, and worked this up: that's all I got for now...........God only knows how it's gonna end up
  11. Finally got around to putting the finishing touches on my 51 Fleetliner AMT Classic. Removed trim and drilled trim mounting holes (a little too big, but did want to see them), added air valves to rims, sanded Fire-year or Good-stone stuff off tires and hand painted the wide whites. Cut center of grille out and replaced with sheet metal 'teeth'. Distressed remaining chrome. Was gonna do the BMF on the window & door trim, but chickened out (I think I just got off my meds at the time ) and just painted them silver chrome. Paint is hodgepodge of black laquer primer, then some flat red, then more black which I indiscriminately sanded off to reveal the red. Glad it's done. Now I can move on
  12. Finally figured out a BIG gun for the Pony AckAckAck. Raided a buncha military toys I got some time ago for an art project I dreamed up and found 4 big ackack-ers. Rigged up a mount for atop das turret, made mods to the machinen guns and glued it all together. Set it up with my ratty Fleetliner for target practise and started 'shooting' ! This sled is HUGE--hard to get a decent pic of the whole thing .... As usual, I gotta 'play' with my pix, attempting to make some action shots 'Painted' it here, not exactly how I plan in the 'real' world, but close. Gotta inflict some battle damage and then it's PAINTIN' time........Can't wait
  13. Great stuff Dave. Looks like you got an eye for things like reflected light, shading, etc. Loved your avatar first time I saw it, and glad to see it's 'yours'. Keep it up. Send some to a magazine sometime. Always a confidence builder when ya get something published.
  14. Time off...??!! TIME OFF??!! Dude, I retired 2 years ago, and have steadily gone more and more gonzo insane ever since, with all the TIME OFF I gots!!! I aint complaining, just trying to deal with my 'issues' like being addicted to eyeballing all the cool stuff on the forum here, instead of sniffing glue (the good stuff, not that orange juice) and doing bodyworks. Thanks for laying it out--- one model a month, and I'm not sure if'n there's a pattern there or not........ FORD, CHEBBY, take a break, CHEBBY, MOPAR, FORD, and repeat. I'll have to do an inventory of my stash and see if'n I can follow that. Love that '41 (think I got one too) and that '57...
  15. Cool looking Caravan, Spike. Love the paint. Can't imagine how it would drive with them little wheels, and sitting that low , coz I got an '06 Caravan in 1:1 that I terrorize the neighborhood with . Where can I get me this kit? Love to build models of my 1:1s, and try different ideas in 1/25 before trying them on the 1:1. oh yeah, is that roof rack in the right place? seems to me that the rack on my 1:1 is back farther, over the ribbed part of the roof.......
  16. Thanks for the inspiration Robert, with your 96 hour builds. I'm getting closer to trying one myself, but it's probably gonna take me almost 96 hours to decide which one to pick from my stash to do.
  17. This is looking purty period cool Bernard. I'm even liking this 'stance'........just as is, with no windyshield, it's looking mean-ish .
  18. Looking really good---gonna look awesome when pinstriped . Nice touch, using the 'cheap' paint--I'm gonna hafta try that myself. I'm assumming you're gonna put a gloss clear over all? Oh yeah, excellent airbrushing too, btw.
  19. yeah, yeah, yeah, Evil........... vids or bs--ya know? growing up, my bro used white gas in a window cleaner squirty thing, squirtin white gas thru a cig lighter--- FLAMETHROWER knockin bumblebees out the sky
  20. Totally awesome, Jose. I vote for this version
  21. Lookin forward to seein what ya do wit dat roof, Kev. Yer right, it am ugly like that
  22. Looking forward to seeing this on that El Camino, Scott. Don't think I ever saw that combo. Whatta ya think about just plain old toilet tissue for curtains?--no pattern or nuthin, just plain t.p.
  23. DUDE! Man.........you gotta quit 'playing' with the little plastic cars and start doing this to 1:1's. Seriously, Flow, looks like a diamond in the rough. You seem to gots an eye for stylin'. I can't wait to see this done! What's up with all the holes in your bench cover? You tryin' to kill them pesky flies with a shotgun?
  24. like, GROOVY, man. Same to you.
