  1. Me & the doc were lookin' around the outsides of the shop, tryin' to find a way in, or a way to cut the power-- propped us up a ladder and weres even up on the roof..... ....looked down thru one the skylights and see dat ol' IGOR has offed the body-- again, and worse we aint sure what he did with it! We also seen he dragged another Chebby in....... Not sure what he's up to, but that's one purty small block. Shoulda known.....oh well. Come on Doc, let's get us down from here. Well, he is still workin' on the body....... Ok......

Go Clay, Go! Most excellent scratchin'
  3. Gee, sorry to hear that Harry -- a Jag without a fan? Thanks, at least I don't feel that stupid now. Why on earth would they do that? Just too totally weird. I've had cars, worked on cars, etc-- even had a Mopar that the thermostat stuck shut on, and the poor 318 barely wanted to run-- and that was in the winter time. Just re-read the cover page of the instruction booklet and see where the original Big T model was produced by Monogram in 1962. Says the CEOs were so pleased with the model shots that they commissioned Darryl Starbird to build a 1:1 version of the model Big T, using the model for reference. Says the 1:1 was a big hit, touring shopping malls in the Midwest and helped sell a lot of the model kits. Also says that 'Predator Performance' of Dubois, Pa made 2 full size 1:1 Big T's, again, using the model for reference. They gave one to Darryl Starbird for his 'National Rod and Custom Car Hall of Fame Museum', and the other one went to a radio station in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Wonder if Darryl, and the Predator Performance guys built the 1:1s without fans ? Mayhaps I'll try and contact either Predator Performance and/or Mr Starbird to see if'n they made the 1:1s without a fan. As for those Jags, I aint sure who you'd hafta call Totally ridiculous
  4. Got an idea (really a demand from MR SKWIRLS-- the demented squirrel type I'm doing a build for) and needed a fan. Initially thought of scratchbuilding one, but remembered I have the Big T and a slightly built up Big Deuce, so I went looking for to grab a fan outa one of them. SURPRISE!!! There aint no fan.......in either of them! After looking thru the box for a nice big 1/8 scale fan, and not finding one, I figured I'd check the instruction booklet. Not a fan to be found-- in the box, or on the instuctions. Even on the photo of the built up Big T on the box art, it aint got no freakin' fan! I don't know that much about rods, but I figured if'n ya gots a radiator.........ya gots a fan, too! Do anybody know if'n some of the 1:1 rods, especially with the exposed engines, like this here one, don't run a fan? That was the only thing that made any sense to me, but I had to check see if'n the Big Deuce had one, since it could have an enclosed engine department....... ...aand-- nope! it aint gots one either! Couldn't check the box art for the Deuce, coz it got trashed. Just the instruction manual, and just like the Biggie T-- no fan. I don't know if'n I'm missin' something here or if some rodders run their engines with a radiator, cooling system, etc, but with no fan? I looked again, thinkin' maybe there was an electic fan molded into the radiator, but again-- nothing! I gots to keep the dememted MR SKWIRLS happy, so I'll be scracthin' a fan, but sure would appreciate if'n anybody can shed some lites on this here ....Thanks.

    the RODENT

Amen to dat, and a huge THANK YOU Geezerman for your considerating those of us on dialup. I don't even bother anymore trying to check some of the posts because of the huge pics. Some of 'em are way cool, but just aint worth the wait. Sometimes I can cruise the forum on the public comps at the library and sometimes I can't. Wish more people would be so considerate.
  8. Well gents, I aint sure if'n Mr SKWILRLS is hissownself or if'n he wanna go hang with Geezerman's Rodent ........one thing I do be knowin' is dat he seem to forcin' me to spend mo' time at the bench with him. While back when me & him went shoppin' for a 'gnition system, he just werent not happy with nuthing what we seen.......so......under his watchful eyes (like always ) I had to be fabbin' up a distributor fer him. I purty much gaved up tryin' to talk any sense at Mr SKWIRLS and just go ahead and do like he say-- I don'ts even care if'n he blow hisself up when he open up dat 4banger anymore. He says he wants vacuum advance and he want a BIG chamber fer it, so dat's what these here parts were for .... ...and here they're all welded, brazed, & glued togethers Long as he thinks it's gonna work He been goin' on & on about what he think he gonna need fer a coil......sheesh! No details yet-- I can just imagine ( ) Found out one of the worstest parts of agreein' to help out a poor sqkwirl is sittin' around wait fer parts to show up. Shoulda seen the smile on his face when the plug wires comed in the mail & I be smilin' a li'l bit also, anyting to get this pshyco skquirrl off'n my back Maybe this'll keeps him happy fer a spell......

  12. Been waitin' for a '34 to show up in me mailbox, and after checkin' this morning, on the way back up the driveyway, what to my wandering eyes did appears, but 'SHROOMS!!! A whole flock of 'em!!! Primo-- and very, very groovy 'shrooooms (should probalbly give some to IGOR, but... ) Stopped to check the 'rod, and it looked ready fer pickin..... ...and looky there!-- some wily grapes too! We's gonna head fer cook forest now....... hope I finds my way back to the bench

Oh man Geez! How's I supposed to get any sleep after seein' this here scratchin' of yours and getting all inspired to do some? Love it-love it-love it!!! Great work! Love that engine as well I thought that Rodent was dead? I mean, you did use the skull from it--right?
  15. Ol' JR is lookin' mighty fine Rob I'd love to drive that thing Wow Rob! that sounds like a cool idea!
  16. Looks small to me.....I'd put a mower deck under it, a plow up front, some nasty nobbies on the back, and definately paint it. Just use it to plow the yard & mow the driveway
  17. I agree with Ken! Do some more scratchin'! Nice job on replicating the 1:1
  18. I's 'bout to 'gree witcha George, 'bout ol' IGOR makin' like ol' big nose Karl-- I's almost thinkin' of givvin' IGOR some mt 'shrooms, but I be afeard it might just make--- oh! wait a minute, doc's comin' around again .....I'll see if'n we can talk some sanse into ol' IGOR
  19. Me & the good doc are witcha on dat Mike- -'bout all we's can do is watch! Speakin' of watchin'--looks like IGOR be workin' him hump off Aint real sure... Yo! IGOR! watcha doin'? Huh? Oh NO! We's really gotta do somethink here!!! Maybe cut the power to th' shop!?--IGOR's totally out of control!! uh oh---doc just fainted Methinks yer right Zuk! mebbe it aint dat he's related-- mebbe doc done gived him Pickasso's brain!
  20. You's aint the only one, Red!
  21. Hey fellers! all's I be doin' is takin' pictures thru the window of doc's shop, what ol' IGOR got me & the good doc locked out of! I aint's got no control here! Apparently ol' IGOR put a rotating floor in da shop, or he be musclin' docs' ride around just so's we can be seein' what he up to with it-- guess he wanted us to see what he be doin to the front Well, it look like he be addin' some mo' sheet metal-- tryin' to fix his mistake.... He sure do have some strange workin' methods OH GREAT!! he done pulled the body off AGAIN!!! wonder which way he gonna put it back on this time? I caint be sure if'n he put it back the sames way or what.......oh, ok-- yeah dat pickem up bed...... IGOR! you done ripped somebody's bed off'n their CHEBBY??!! Oh, man...... There he go again, takin' the body off......
  22. Nice work on your 50 Virg! You're right about the chassis on these--I got one in the works somewhere hereabouts, and the firewall/inner fender thingee too -- I almost glued it in before the intereior, but something told me to follow the instructions for once Absofrutely love what ya done with the rear wheels -- with all your watch parts mebbe you coulda made the rim a ringgear and run a progression of gearing off'n the rear axle into it to drive them purty widey whites . You also have done inspired me wit them bullet holes-- if'n I have any more trouble finishing mine, I might just shoot it
  23. T'anks Led, wasn't not sure if'n I were's seeing things t'other day when I woked up and there he were-- on the bench I knows I din't put him there , but it be workin' out, gittin some relief from dat overachievin' IGOR messin' with Doc's 49
  24. Heard ya the first time Cranky....... Glad you're delighted with it Virg-- Ol' Mr SKWIRLSY can be a real slave driver at times Methinks me wants to get 'im done and put up on a shelf somewhere--and the sooners the betters
  25. Woked up awhiles ago from a wee nap and seen Mr SKWIRLS headin' fer the bench... ...sat me down and seen he had him 4banger and one of hims headers ready fer me to work on. We done had us a few real temder-like moments....... ...and then I had to get back t'werk-- pretty sure I was doin' sumpin' right here. Not sure why, but Mr SKWIRLS insisteded on extra layers of the krazy stuff I was actully glad to have another set of eyebal sockets awatchin' while drilling them header flange bolt holes. We was gonna tap 'em too, but we 'cideded tweren't really necessarys like All lined up an' no place to go. Good ol' LocTite on thim hexheads and we's gettin' closer to makin' some noises He's Mr SKWIRLS an' he approves this header
