LOL, I glanced at that box art and thought it was a Cuda! -
Box art and your decision?

LOVE the IMC box art!!!!! I have been collecting those kits lately as well! I have quite a few in the stash now! -
What type of "Box Art" do you prefer?
Ben replied to Greg Myers's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I love the old art work boxes but it is nice to see a picture of the actual built model on the side of the box so you know exactly what your getting. -
Sure would be nice to see some pics!

Yea, I noticed that after I made the post. My bad. I wish someone would do a review on the kit so I can see what it will look like built.

I have a couple of these. I want to modify one to look like the HotWheels "Funny Money" armored car, funny car.

87 Cutllass 442 wheels and decals?
Ben replied to Ben's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers

Does anyone produce a decal set for the 87 Cutlass 442? Also, who makes the most detailed 1/25 Olds Rallye wheels for it as well?

I see the dolly kit by itself on Ebay from time to time?

I know on the "selling" part of it and I won't talk sales in the post. I asked that they message me if interested.

Does the Lorenzen kit have the deep reverse wheels, stock car tires, cage, etc. or is it basically a production car with some race parts added?
-
Took the time to make a post here to show a new product I offer with pictures and I put it in the Truck Stop section because when you try to post something in the Truck aftermarket section, it doesn't give you the option to include pictures. Of course, my post was moved and in doing so, all the pictures I took the time to include can no longer be viewed. Things seem to be getting awfully strict around here!

Is that the Fred Lorenzen 66 Galaxie kit that's out right now? If so, is it box stock? I'm just wondering what the kit looks like built.

You would need the Motor City Resin's 74 Econoline kit, and an MPC Ford Stunt Van for the engine, wheels, tires, suspension and exhaust. Then just have someone reszize the decals that come in the 1/20 kit. Been seriously thinking about doing it!

***NEW, NEW, NEW*** from Class A Resin/Caleb's Custom Cases!! Real aluminum ten hole wheels with real aluminum domed front center hubs and real aluminum top hats for the rear wheels. The front hubs mount from inside the front wheels. The rear top hats have a pin on the back side that slides through the center hole of each rear wheel, aligning them to each other. The lug holes in the top hats align perfectly with the lug holes in the wheels so that the pins on the lug nuts can pass all the way through the top hat then both wheels. These are sold as a set of ten wheels, two front hubs, four top hats and a tree of 65, 3D printed plastic acorn lug nuts. (As shown in the pictures). Precision machined, real aluminum, acorn lug nuts (shown on the assembled wheels) can be substituted for the plastic lug nuts. The wheels and hubs can be purchased highly polished (spun at high RPM on my lathe) for an additional cost. These sets are VERY limited!!!!! They are first pay, first served! SERIOUS INQUIRIES ONLY!!!!!! Please do not waste my time if you are not serious about buying them exactly as they are stated! Wheels are ONLY sold in sets of ten! If interested, please send me a message.

Prepping resin parts for chrome plating
Ben replied to Hawk312's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Soak your parts in Westly's if you can, then wash them in warm soapy water. then, after they are dry, dip the parts in Future (Pledge) floor polish to put an acrylic barrier coat on them, set them on a paper towel to wic away the excess Future. Then, after they are dry, mount them and try again. -
"Golden Wheels", remember that program?
Ben replied to 62rebel's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Remember it quite well, still have a bunch of the kits with it. I would never cut my boxes up though! I think they should have put the tokens in the box rather than them being part of the box. -
Does anyone have this kit yet? I am real curious to see how the parts look!!

I received great service from Round 2 parts replacement! Printed out their online form, filled it out. Made copies of the instruction sheet and circled the parts I needed. Included a copy of my receipt and sent it in. New parts showed up about a week later.

Sherline has two piece jaws that use the same master jaw but for the top part of the jaws, you can choose soft steel, aluminum, brass, Delrin or nylon. I guess I'm going to have to buy a set of these and mill the shape I want the top part of the jaws, the shape I want them to be. I think one set of master jaws and one set of brass top jaws is about 100.00

Using baby/talcum powder for mold release for master
Ben replied to Hawk312's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Been a caster of high end resin parts since 1993 so I have a little knowledge in this. The only thing you want to use baby powder for is to line your cured mold before you pour the resin in. What it does is cause a capillary action to "pull" the resin into tiny voids. The baby powder then dissipates into the resin so it has no effect on the final finish of the cured part. My wheels were made from highly polished aluminum masters and the finish of the cast parts was like glass!
