  1. Excellent use of a bunch of parts.
  2. I had that kit many years ago. Still have the trailer minus the side boards.
  3. Paasche H series single action. Chicago Air Brush has them the chaepest and was doing free shipping. 3 gallon compressor came from Lowe's. I went with the Paasche last year because folks here said it was good - especially the Master - Donn Yost.
  4. Terrific old school build.
  5. Good color and very shiny. I like it.
  6. Nice and clean and shiny. Looks terrific.
  7. Check the neighborhood, Eelco. Those little tubs are very handy for all kinds of small stuff.
  8. Holy cow, MIke! I haven't changed my blade in probably 20 builds, maybe more. Every once in a while I'll put the blade to a whetstone and sharpen it up. Send your used blaeds this way and I'll keep using them for a few years.
  9. Hobby Lobby in Ocala, FL doesn't carry Evergreen. At least not that I've found.
  10. Nothing like a Harley between your legs and some RC Cola to drink because I was able to to do some building on that 4 link suspension. I think it looks pretty good. I'm leaving the shocks for another day. Also completed 9 display boxes and got the '83 Camaro ready for paint. It's been a good day and don't expect anything to spoil it. How could it when tonight is Dancing With The Stars and then Monday night RAW?
  11. A good strong pull on some RC Cola helped, Paul. Thanks. I think I'm getting it together but need to get up to the LHS for more Evergreen - plus it's an excuse to get the Harley out for a ride.
  12. Those are the ones, Rob. Handy little puppies, aren't they?
  13. Plasticote sandable primer is the only way to go. It's available at Car Quest stores or online. I also keep cans of the Plasticote primer/filler around along with primer in black, white, red oxide, and the grey.
  14. Anybody have a baby out there? Baby food comes in little plastic tubs with snap on lids. I've using them to store engines, wheels/tires, etc. They work great. If you have a baby and aren't saving the little tubs, perhaps you'd consider saving them and sending them to me. I'll be happy to reimburse your postage costs.
  15. Yeah George. I'm gonna do it! I'll be filling my mug with some good ole RC Cola and getting to work. Supposed to be sunny and 85 today and I need to get out the Harley and get to the LHS for more materials.
  16. Interesting Gramps. What about adhesive that might get on the paint where you don't want it. How do you clean it off? Do you do something to the body before applying the foil? I always do Novus #2 before applying BMF. Seems to keep the "stickies" off the body. I bought some Marie's foil glue for gluing cheap tin foil but haven't tried it yet. The bottle says to spread the glue and then wait an hour before application. At least BMF can be applied right away.
  17. I am having fun, Dr. Cranky but I needed to vent. Several thoughts have been going through my head that I need to try and a member has sent a PM trying to help me out. What a GREAT place this forum is. It reminds me of the old days with Vietnam Veterans having mental issues. We used to drill a hole in a quarter and put it on a chain for hanging on your neck. We told our brothers that when you have a problem, make the call, and here's a quarter for the call. That's what it's all about trying to help a brother when help is needed. Thanks again for everyone's advise and encouragement. Later today I plan and going out to the shop to kick some '40 Ford butt.
  18. Thank you for the replies. I really appreciate them. In 53 yearss of building, I have never thrown a kit against a wall and I have never put away a kit for future building. I've always struggled through somehow. Scratchbuilding a 4 link suspension is way up the line for me. One part of me is saying do it this way but my fingers go a different way. I was trying to fall asleep last night and came up with possible solutions to my problem(s). Try crimp beads on the round rod before heating & smashing. Get some small pins. Glue temporary blocks to chassis. I've been heating 1/16" round rod (Evergreen #222) and then smashing the end with a hammer to flatten it out. That's supposed to make it look like a Heim Joint. I'm going to try adding bead crimps to simulate the nut on the threaded portion of the Heim Joint. Later last night I temp glued blocks to the frame in a attempt to keep the rear end at the proper height during suspension trial & errors. Those pics of yours Jon are amazing. What a great resource you have.
  19. I spent several hours the last couple of days trying to figure out and build a 4 link suspension on a '40 Ford. I cut and measured, fitted, sanded, and trial fit again. Got something together that I thought was pretty good and would work but the tires don't fit the wheelwells very well. I'm about ready to hang up model car building and find another hobby.
  20. Fantastic details on the suspension.

    Low down T

    Pretty cool build.
  22. Being able to post my builds here (and only here) provides me the opportunity to share what I do with you, my fellow MCM members. I get positive and negative comments on my builds. I don't care to read the negatives, but it provides me with feedback that I try to turn into a positive in my next build.
  23. Thanks for posting, Phil. Great to see pics of the shows I can't attend.
  24. Your dio is impressive and inspiring. Congratulations on the awards.
  25. Click on slideshow and away we go. Thanks for posting all those pics. Lyle. Looks like it was a great show.
