  1. I drill holes in the head and then insert a piece of the vinyl jacket cover from telephone wire (black, red, green, yellow). The wire is stripped out first. The jacket is forced into each hole. The ignition wire then slides into the jacket. Sometime I'll use a drop of Micro Krystal Klear on the spot where the wire goes into the jacket. I use CA glue to glue the wires into the distributor.
  2. BMF will "bend" at inside corners. Just take your time and bend a little at a time. I use make-up applicators when doing BMF. They're rounded at one end and pointy at the other. Wal-Mart, CVS, Walgreens all carry them
  3. Wow!! I never expected that. I'll have to get over to the marinas on the Gulf and check out sailboats. Don't want that fuel to go to waste.
  4. I'm closing in on 3,000 posts on the forum. Is there an award at that level? Something like a framed certificate, MCM T-shirt (XL), or free subscription to the magazine for a year?
  5. Glad you like it Greg. That must be a reflection from the overhead lights. I didn't use the camera flash. Maybe it is a ghost. Should I call Ghostbusters?
  6. Fourth.

    69 Nova

I'm liking the whole thing but especially the engine details.
  8. Now that's a nice looking build.
  9. Paasche H series single action is what I use (as recommended by Donn Yost, Lone Wolf Custom Painting). Quick & easy to clean. Add Chicago Air brush to your list of suppliers. They were selling airbrushes with a nice discount and free shipping.
  10. I was just asking myself yesterday how you were doing, Clay. You must have read my mind. Sounds like you got there safe & sound. Best of luck in the new place. Semper Fi.
  11. Thanks, Joe. Almost finished with the '62 BelAir and a '54 F100 pickup. And I started an Auburn roadster - that's going to be a hot rod! It's in the purple pond right now getting stripped. Gotta get going and start dinner - London broil, white rice, salad.
  12. I didn't want a full fendered coupe and I didn't want a highboy, so I kinds, sorta combined them together. Color is HOK Meteor Maroon with a couple coats of clear and finished with The Treatment Model Car Wax. Taillights are from a '69 Camaro; polished aluminum exhaust tips; truck lid is hinged with a removal support rod and inside is one of my cast fuel cells; I used the hemi and wired & plumbed it; I used some wire to hold the headlights. I cut the running boards off the kit pieces and tried to wrap the rear fenders around the back. I took off some massive amounts of plastic from the front fenders and sanded them so they would flow better. The interior features high back bucket seats & flocking.
  13. I'm not into the weathering bit, but I like what you did - especially the holes in the door for the missing chrome trim.
  14. Welcome to the MCM forum Rich. This is a great palce to learn and share. And speaking of sharing, could you post more pics of that Willys? It looks good.
  15. 2 days? How do you go so fast? Looking goog tough.
  16. Sounds good Wayne. I look forward to seeing you and your new rat rod. I'm sure the detail you usually do will be included.
  17. I like it - even with those wheels.
  18. Howdy Wayne - I'm not a rat rod person, but I find the top chop interesting and will continue to follow your build.
  19. We got home from Cpl. Taylor's memorial service a little while ago. It was an emotional experience but not as well attended as I thought it would be. Maybe 250 people. Some of the Marines who served with Cpl Taylor attended (on their own dime) and told everyone what a good Marine Taylor was. A Marine major presented the Purple Heart to Mom & Dad Taylor. Cpl Taylor will buried in Arlington on March 15, 2011. The sheriff's department provided a helicopter flyover and flew "The Missin Man" formation. There were no protesters. Only Americans showing their respect for a Fallen Hero.
  20. I guess I mess most of these car shows. I need to channel surf more. But not tonight! It's Friday night and you know what that means - pizza, popcorn and Friday night Smackdown. Nothing real there - everybody knows it's phony. But I lile it.
  21. It don't shine but it still looks excellent.
  22. The guy should have saved a tree instead of making that thing.
  23. Terrific build.
  24. Al from Ma's Resin is the best - no question about it.
  25. Instead of the primer/filler, you might want to think about Plasticotes sandable primer #235 or 237. It's thinner than the filler stuff.
