  1. That's a pretty good idea, Randy, but can you buy airplane wheels or have to get a whole kit?
  2. I did the index card trick and it came out okay. Tried embossing powder on another build and am not sure if I like it. You can get embossing powders at Michael's or Hobby Lobby. Look in the area that they have rubber stamps.
  3. I have that same issue and some other old stuff too.
  4. Terrific build. I love the flames.
  5. Trying to get ready for a teleconference meeting Sunday morning. We have had 3" of rain so far this morning and it's still coming down. We're supposed to go to a car show this afternoon, but with the rain, who knows? If I can get out to the shop, I have the '60 Chevy S/D, '27 track T, '70 Eldorado, and a Nova pro-street going.
  6. Amazing work you're doing, John. Should be interesting to follow. I can just imagine the painting you're going to do.
  7. Excellent news, Kevin. Congratulations!
  8. Thnaks Jeff. More stuff to chwck out. Do you use the Smooth-On products for the molds & resin? Alumilite? Something else?
  9. That engine is looking pretty. So is the rest of the build. I ordered some armature wire but it's too big and doesn't bend very well. What size did you get?
  10. FedEx delivered the foam samples today.
  11. To make a 2 part mold you need oil based non-sulfer modeling clay like Chavany NSP clay. My problem is that it comes in 2 colors and then soft, medium, and hard. Great! So which one? Chavant is sending me samples. I don't have prices yet. So which is better? Alumilite or Smooth-On?
  12. I sent an email to Smooth-On about a mold & casting kit. They have a starter kit that sells for $50.00 to make 2D castings. If I wantedd to try casting a wheel, wouldn't that be 3D? Here's the info - http://www.smooth-on.com/index.php?cPath=4_1217
  13. Yo Ed - what's all that white stuff on your panel truck?
  14. Very intesting build and one worth watching. Keep going.
  15. Come on, Randy. How many builds do you have going on? I like the look of that truck with the custom grille and GMP wheels. What is it?
  16. Beautiful build. Fantastic details. But again the air filters - gotta know the source of the mesh.
  17. Welcome Howard to THE best model car forum. There's a ton of stuff here. Dig in.
  18. You're killin' me with all these excellent looking builds, Randy. This another one I need to watch.
  19. That's quite a novel idea and I like it. I look forward to seeing more progress pics.
  20. Cool. How many terrific builds do you have going on, Randy? They're all worth watching.
  21. Oh yeah - an eye opener going on here.
  22. Great build - just love it. Super engine. Do I detect some very fine mesh in the air filter? I need some of that stuff.
  23. Welcome Peter. There's some great stuff going on here. I've learned more in the past year about building than ever before.
  24. Watching your WIP is really neat. I'm trying to learn some things too.
  25. Nice start, Randy. I'm going to keep an eye on this one because it looks like it's going to be very ineresting.
