  1. In Chicago we called it a covered deck - here in FLA it's a lanai. Go figure.
  2. I'm planning to build Sixties Sam's street scene diorama plans on a shelf and enclose it with plexiglass. Keeps the dust off and then I don't have to worry so much about breaking something when I clean them.
  3. Railfreak, it's Model Car Wax - The Treatment. Best stuff there is for the final finish of your builds (opinions might vary). I get it at Megahobby - The Final Detail The Treatment Model Wax 1oz jar View Larger Image Retail Price: $4.25 Sale Price: $4.04 You Save: 5 % Item Number: TRE21201 Manufacturer: Detail Master Our Sku: TRE21201 Quantity: * Whole number only Add to a new shopping list Email this page to a friend 1 ounce jar. The Treatment pre-softened carnauba wax is the ultimate finish for all model cars, boats, planes etc. This wax works well on all painted and unfinished surfaces. Removes fine scratches, Eliminates smears and fingerprints, Deepens color on painted models, and Protects clear styrene from fogging.
  4. Sure do - and here's the pics; I had the oak bases laying around. The plexiglass is from Home Depot that I cut to size. I don't remember how much it cost but it's cheaper to make your own rather than buy the ready made plastic cases. I got the clear silcone caulk at the same time. And don't forget, if you shop at Home Depot or Lowe's, just prove you're a Veteran (DD214, military ID, retired ID, VA ID, etc.) and get a 10% discount - every day!!
  5. I haven't gone that exotic but have made display cases from and oak base with plexiglass walls & top and I used clear silicone caulk in the corners. We recently renovated our lanai and I have several cabinet doors that will get the plexiglass walls/top. My wife bought me a 24 or 27 car display case from Carney Plastics for Christmas and it's great. It's almost full and I'll need another one. What's nice about the Carney unit is that the mirror back has holes dilled in the back that just happen to be 16" on center - excellent for hanging the unit on a wall.
  6. I have a jar of that HWJapan ginseng stuff but haven't tried it yet. Have you tried it George53?
  7. Thank you for the help.
  8. We did some pretty wierd things with our bikes back in the 50s/60s. Used a 26" frame and rear wheel with a cut down fork with a 20" wheel in front. We were always going downhill. Then we replaced the handlebars with a car steering wheel. On another project, we took everything off a 26" frame, turned it upside down and put it back together. Somebodys Dad welded a tube so we could sit. The rider sat very high in the air. Of course, many of our rides featured the clothes pin and playing card for the rear wheel and many had ballons tied to the rear. I wish I had pics to share with you.
  9. The PE buckles came from Model Car Garage and the seatbelt material came from Scale Dreams. I believe the directions I have are from ProTech and from Detail Master. Still can't figure out how to glue/attach them though.
  10. Can anyone help me with seatbelts? I have the PE buckles, the material, and a couple sets (pictures) on instructions. But how do you put them together? CA, epoxy, Elmer's?

    '59 Caddy!!!!

Looks like took a 1:1 Caddy and shrunk it. Beautiful. The paint is amazing. Did the taillight lenses come with the kit? Aftermarket? I need to get me some of those lenses for some build I have in mind.
  12. I love the '69 Camaro. Excellent job on this one.
  13. A most excellent build.
  14. I kinds ride a bicycle. It has 2 wheels anyway, but an engine and it's call a Harley-Davidson Dyna Wide Glide. I had a tricycle for some years but last year gave to a kid suffering bad epilepsy seizures - figured he could use it better than me.
  15. Looks great Bill and thanks for sharing your expertise. The new one looks about like a 1967 Buick Skylark.
  16. Thanks for the kind words. Russ - Novus works for me followed by a coat of Model Car Wax.
  17. Look comfy Nick. That could be a really great place to build models. The only thing I don't like is the American flag under the Canadian flag and then you have a minor flag above both of them. I know nothing about Canada law/customs but here in the United States, nothing flies above the American flag - NOTHING!!
  18. Here's some pics of a Nova I just completed. Sprayed with HOK cobalt blue pearl w/Plasticoat clear then finished with Novus #2, #1, and then Model Car Wax. Flocked the interior, Pegasus wheels and disc brakes (drilled out), polished aluminum exhaust. Finished with my signature Vietnam Veteran plate. Hope you like it.
  19. I picked up a copy at the LHS yesterday. Nice issue but some of the cars/trucks were so good that they needed more pics and more information about them. Haven't done a subscrition yet because I'm afraid of the condition it might come in. Additionally, the issue is about 2 months late. If I were paying for a subscription, I'd want it delivered in pristine condition every month like clockwork.
  20. Beautiful build. The paint is lucious.
  21. Congratulations. The sex doesn't matter - need to have Mom and the baby healthy.
  22. Bob is using the friends feature as a way to keep track of the people he's traded with. That's a good idea and I wish he would have thought of it earlier. I can't remember who I've traded with - if we have, would you please remind me? Thanks.
  23. A few people have told me they want to be my friend. When I look at my friends list, it says "PENDING APPROVAL". So how do I go about approving?
  24. I thought you posted pics of a real truck. Looking great!
