Looks good Billy. Keep plugging away. What else did you finish up?
-
Ok kinda suffering from lack of creativity modelers block and insufficient parts. So here are some minor updates. I still have a bunch of lines to run. Gonna put an order in for some Pro Tech line cause I don't have anything left to use. So it will be off to another project to be procrasstanated upon. Well here you go To those that have mentioned the carb thing it has been rectified
-
Cruz , that looks like a lot of motor for that little car. If you want to mock up the motor use Elmers white glue. It will be easier to pull apart if you have to make changes. Looking good, that grill had to be time consuming.
-
Cruz , just a heads up on the Gibson engine you may need to shim it in certain areas. The detail on these are awesome but the fit can rather be crude. I am working with a Hemi Pro Stock engine and it needed some work to get it to have a clean look. Just a heads up and by the way the 5 star Welds will look good on this car. My brother friend had a Vega pro streeted back in the 80's. It was white with blue, red and yellow stripes on the door. Can't wait to see what you do with this!

Well me being a huge dirt fan I gotta say kudos on those builds. I especially like the 80's style modified you are working on. Who's car are you building?
-
Holy chrome Batman! Cruz that came out simply awesome. Much like everything else you build, top notch work my friend. I aswell want to see this in person. The color is a very good choice with wide white walls. Very complimentary.

My first car was a Chevy Citation hatch back. Bronze/Gold color. Nice color choice and an excellat and different build!

Woo Sprintcars

Watched it last night. Was awesome with great racing. To top it off Saldana beat Schatz. That is what matters most to me. You and I are probably the only 2 that care. Going to the races tonight I hope. I suggest who ever has a dirt track by their area go check it out. I am fortunate that in a 2 hr radius I can see super late models, 410/358 sprint cars, or big and small block modifieds. This is where most stars on the racing circuits are born and raised. Check it out! -
What was your hardest build yet?
chris coller replied to vizio93's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Right now I am working on a slot car for a customer. So I am going to say that, that being a Heller Ferrari 512. Things don't seem to fit right, soft palstic and japanese instructions. What a mess but it actually coming along ok. Just have to study the box art and diagrams. That would has to be the hardest build to date and it is mostly body parts and paint work. -
I will make the neccesary changes to the carb. It will be straightened out lickity splits. Thanks guys.

That is one sweet looking bike ya got there. The finish is smoooooth! Nice work.

No, they are a mix of MAS and Scale repro's. I got a awesome deal down at the NNL Mid Atlantic (for Lyle) on a turned aluminum Nascar detail set for $7. Pulleys, dry sump, air cleaner, starter, and solenoid, and a few other things. I think "back in the day" the set went for like $40 to $45.

I know what you mean. I put my Saldana Budweiser sprint car and got some responses. It's all good I just lost my kleenex. They're around here somewheres.

Thanks guys, I know it's not a 32 Ford or a 49 Merc or a street car. It is thepoint of complimenting good workmanship. There are a lot of subjects on here that I wouldn't build but I do comment and commend people on there projects. Maybe my thick skin is starting to wear thin. Who knows. But you guys are great and thanks for the comments. Now Igotta get some paint on this thing!

Here are some pics of the progress I have made since the first post. Seems my builds are a tough sell with some on this board, but it's all good. Pics for your viewing pleasure

I will play along, My music collection is diverse as all get out. By the way I am in my early 30's. I listen to everthing from NWA to Led Zepplin, Mudvayne to Johnny Cash, Outkast to The Doobie Brothers, Damien Marley to Ween, Slipknot to Beastie Boys. I think you guy get the picture. Much like what I build a diverse mix of a little bit of everything. Happy modeling and headbanging or straight up relaxing. -
Very nice job on the custom. Gotta say I dig the color too! Nice, nice build.

Gil de Feran's 2001 Valvoline Reynard Indy Car
chris coller replied to chris coller's topic in Model Cars
Thanks guys! This is a result of tooooooooo much time on my hands and looking at Strada Sports for other things and coming across this awesome car. I just loved the scheme and had to do it. Over all fun build with very little issue. -
Thanks guys! Chris, the best advice I can give you is make templates usuing the pieces you want to decal as the basis of your shape. Also Tamiya tape to help with odd pieces that you really cant trace. Keep in mind to flip the shapes over if you are doing two of the same type of piece. I use dilluted micro-sol with water added as the dillutant. A hair dryer comes into paly to get the decals to conform to the shape. If there are curved areas make releases in the decal to help remove wrinkles. Then hit them with the low heat setting on your hair dryer. Hope that helps. Chris, if there is anything else you want to know send me a PM. I am more than willing to divulge my "secrets" if you will. Thanks again guys.

Chassis detail is awesome as with any Tamiya kit. If you were to take off the pans the model would just not look right. I don't know how Dave felt about doing carbon fiber work, but I was getting frustrated from time to time. I have been working on this for over a year off and on. Loosing intrest multiple times along the way. The next step is 2 part clear to add the depth to the decals and paint. Thanks for the comments!

Alright after some procrastinating and some inspiration from the NNL East I decided to get this project up and rolling again. With some minor set backs and not being happy with some aspects of this build here are some updates. The body is painted Rosso Corsa from Zero paints. It still needs to be cleared so the paint isn't to shiney. Carbon fiber from Scale Motorsport and Studio 27. Gotta say the new SMS decals since they switched to Cartograf are phenomenal to work with. So here you go. Comments and crituques are welcome!
