I just took some Model Masters flat black painted the trans and then brushed on the MM exhaust metalizer. The tarns on the real car is usually matte/flat black ar almost a gunmetal color. Depends on the year I guess. Hve sean them almost a pale gold on the newer cars. Hope that helps.

A little back story on this car. I built this car when I was about 15 or 16. Needless to say my skills were nothing of what they are now. So justed wanted to build this car again and try and do it 10 times better. Working on this for about a weeks now on and off. Started hacking away the top part of the roll cage and rebuilt ussing .80 Evergreen rod. The front bracing done using 1/16 rod. The engine is painted with Tamiya AS-12 raw metal with the trans painted black with exhaust metalizer over top. Have a few aluminum pulleys attatched. A/N fittings are #3 with Pro Tech braibed line. Distibutor is from Replicas of Maryland with black and grey plug boots. Well here it is the start of something good I hope. Now for the rest of the part gathering!

Here you go on the newest to come off my floor. Revell kit with Speedline decals painted with Model Master acrylics. A mix of dark blue and Blue Angel blue topped of with clear laquer. I also added carbon fiber decale to the suspension parts and mad a photo etch fuel filler. Which does not show up on these pics. It was installed after the photos were taken. To add to the description the tires were sanded, flat laquered, decaled and laquered again. I have got to say the Speedline decals were just awesome to work with. I would compare them to Cartograf if they are not printed by them. That is how good they are. So here you go somthin a bit different for this board.

IS IT ME? or are people crazy
chris coller replied to oldman23's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Also with all the valid points all of you have made, keep in mind that there are alot of people out there that don't posses the skills to paint like that. -
I gotta know where did you get the nice wheels and tire on that there purty Mustang? Nice job!

Sorry about the title. Just having fun a bit. My question is has anyone ever had a problem with tyhe primer over a resin body? I purchased a Comp Resin body at the NNL EAST brought it home sanded the body to knock the texture of the body. Then I washed the body using Dawn dish soap. My problem is the paint is still tacky in certain spots and completely dry on the rest of the body. Any thoughts?

What to use to strip off ACRYLIC PAINT??
chris coller replied to chris coller's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
Thanks guys for the feedback! -
I have some A/N fittings that I want to strip of the Tamiya acrylic clear red and blue. What would be best to strip it off with out corrosion to the aluminum fittings, Super clean does not work. Anyone have any insight to my query?

That is a very nice build you got there. It's amazing the detail Tamiya puts into their big scale cars. That is a beautiful piece!

Gregg sign me up for a name tag as well. Thanks, Chris

"Are you cool man?" Line from slater as they are going for a cruise. I liked that movie. It was back in my "experimentation" days. Still a good movie with cool cars.

Pink is a good color and would be preferable. I used white on my my 308 GTB and didnt have any issues or coverage problems. I used all Tamiya products though.

1/24 scale Sparco seat-belts
chris coller replied to FujimiLover's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Best seatbelt set on the market in my opinion is Studio 27 photo etch with adhesive cloth. It gives enough cloth to do 5 or 6 seats. Come in 1/20 and 1/24 on one fret. I cut down the 1/20 material if I don't have enough material. About $12 and can be found at www.stradasports.com. When you run out of photo etch pieces you can purchase them without the material from a few other companies. Just go under a search on strada sports and type seat belts and it should come up. Hiroboy .com is another source but the are over seas so shipping will be much more. There service is excellant though. -
Gregg I am interested in a name tag. How and where do we let you know about the tags? On here or at the show?

I am gonna be there. Sign me up for one of those name tags as well.

1/24 scale Sparco seat-belts

A toothbrush and some toothpicks should help. Scrub the body with the toothbrush and scribe the door panels to get the paint out of them and any other areas with lines in it. -
1/24 scale Sparco seat-belts

I prefer the cloth type seat belts. I feel they are easier to work with. Are you still having paint issues with your Ferrari? If so have you considered stripping the paint and starting over? -
Looks awesome. Inspiring to make me wanna build one. What color did you use? Inquiring minds want to know!

I have some experience with them there seatbelts. My suggegtion to you is take some flat clear prefferably Tamiya acrylic and paint a thin coating over top. The ones I used chipped kind of easy as ran them through the buckles. One of my club members Marcos Cruz has used them with good results. Hit him up see if he has any tips for you. -
I post on there from time to time. Prefer this board over the other though. This seems alot more user and community friendly. As far as the critiquing goes that's fine by me. I got tough skin so go ahead crituque away. I'm not the type of person to turn something like this into a pissing match due to the fact of it being trivial. Now what might chap my ass a bit is if someone comments on something and doesn't post anything the build. Fair is fair! As far as one forum to the other, my opinion is this board has better quality builders. Again my opinion and feel free to disagree. Also feel the folks on this board are more involved in what everyone builds as well. Even if you're not a big named builder. Which what I enjoy aswell. It's a crying shame that the hobby is in the shape it's in also. I started building models when I was seven or eight. Now at 32 after honing my skills and constistantly getting better the kit prices are getting out of hand. Hobbys are expensive which I do realize. But the biggest issue is and I say this about anything, don't mind paying the money as long as what I get in return what I paid for. Unfortunately a sign of the times. People want reduced prices on products and services and in return they usually get what they pay for. Just taking the last statement from the last 10 years being in the flooring busines as both an installer and a saleman. Bottom line is build for yourself and critisism is a part of life. Shouldn't let things like someone not approving of a model when there are more important things in life. Or take the negative and make it a positive and improve on the areas that were critisized in the first place. I personally don't like yes men but that's just me. Have fun and build for yourself. Sorry for rambling nonsense!
