  1. While we're on the subject I thought you guys might enjoy seeing this? A few years ago my friend @Rocking Rodney Rat as he's known here on the forum gifted me the red Dragmaster frame and body parts pack that the double kit "Thunder Charger" is based on. It's very similar to the Mooneyes and Attempt 1 frames with the difference being in the roll hoop design. We rarely see anyone actually build these old parts packs and because he was so nice to send me one I jumped right on it. I was able to finagle a complete car out of it using the rear axle and heavily cut down seat from the Tony Nancy double dragster kit and the front axle is from Revell's Kurtis Midgets from several years ago. The Model A 4-cylinder with ARDUN head conversion is something I bashed together on the fly. Wheels are AMT '33 Willys with their parts pack slicks and Modelhaus front tires. Paint is Testors 1-coat Icy Blue. Construction and more finished pics here: https://public.fotki.com/deucepu/ardun-dragmaster-mkiv/
  2. And they were 1:24 to fit the Monogram roadster kit.
  3. The weathering and rot on this truck are incredibly well done and I like all the creative touches light the bed floor planks and taillight. I love all of the extra (missing) details you added the cab inside and out. I also really dig the shiny yellow wheels and whitewalls against the beater body. I can imagine the wheels and tires they found it with were far beyond usable and probably mis-matched so a fresh set were in order. Now for the friendly critique: As awesome as the detailed inner doors that you made are, the added thickness is clearly keeping the cab from sitting down over the floor like its supposed to and its causing the truck to look awkward. Correcting that would only make a great model even greater.
  4. Neat work going on here. I like the 2-door Phaeton a lot and I think you should leave the front door line vertical/straight. I honestly don't like the 2-door Phaeton bodies that Brookville did. I think they are awkward looking and I've seen them in person at Brookville's display at The Grand National Roadster Show. They tried to hype them up as a big deal but nobody really cared. So far I've seen one finished by Brizio and the other by Kugel. So there's 2, where's the rest?!
  5. And Another... This is a simple model built from one of Lindberg's '34 Pickup issues. It was inspired by the illustration at the end of the original issue AMT instructions "Hints By Barris". Fenders were obviously ditched, AMT parts pack pre-decorated tires and slicks with the American 12-spokes and 5-spokes from AMT's '32 Vicky. Pontiac engine block from AMT's '36 3-Window/Roadster with the rest of the engine parts all from AMT's Pontiac parts pack engine. Chassis and interior is box-stock. Testors 1-coat Mythical Maroon. The windows look weird because I colored them with red Sharpie when I built this 5 or 5 years ago and they have faded.
  6. @mrm I love your flamed roadster. As Eric said, it looks like it could be straight out of Alloway's shop! Here's my Roadster contributions. Revell Rat Roaster body channeled over 5-Window chassis. Chassis back-dated with Revell '40 Ford cross members and rear axle. Heavily kit-bashed Buick "Nailhead" with early Ford 3-speed trans. Revell '29 Roadster wheels, tires and finned brake drums. Modified Monogram '30 Phaeton seat and side panels with Revell '40 dash, column and wheel. Tamiya Racing White paint. Resin stylized roadster top from Drag City Casting which I created the master for. Revell '32 HiBoy Roadster with their '32 Sedan Flathead engine and 5-spoke American's. Interior made to look like a work in progress with unfinished upholstery, Revell '40 dash and AMT '40 Ford seat. Resin stylized roadster top by Drag City Casting which I created the master for. Tamiya Flat and Gloss Black. This model was built 10 years ago and intended to look like an unfinished driver.
  7. I dunno, it looks pretty neat on those old 90’s billet wheels!
  8. Revell '32 3-Window channeled over their 5-Window chassis and Hemi engine. Valve covers from Revell '41 Willys and log manifold with 6 Tweedy Pie carburetors. Beatnik Bandit front tires with Monogram Lil Coffin rear mags & slicks. Pleated interior with '40 dash made from Revell's '32 Sedan and 5-Window. Also modified and grafted in the 5-Window louvered deck lid. Duplicolor dark gray primer and Testors 1-coat Fiery Orange. Revell '32 5-Window channeled over Rat Roaster chassis, grill and small block Chevy tweaked with Revell parts pack dual 4-barrel intake and early non-performance exhaust manifolds. Orange Crate wheels, tires and slicks. Rat Roaster bobbed rear fenders and modified interior. Narrowed Revell '48 Ford dashboard. Testors 1-coat Icy Blue with 5-Window kit flames. Revell '32 5-Window with resin chopped top body from Drag City Casting. I did the master body and it's chopped a scale 4.5". Revell '57 Gasser Y-Block engine. Revell '64 Thunderbolt Radir wheels with the rears made deeper. Rear fenders bobbed 6 scale inches. Testors 1-coat Bronze One. This color is a pain to photograph so I included one out in the sun.
  9. I wanna play, I wanna play! Revell '32 Sedan. Chopped and channeled with a hopped up early Oldsmobile. Wheels an tires from Revell's modern tool '29 Roadster/'30 Coupe. Tamiya Light Gunmetal. Revell-based '32 Fordor Sedan. This is a resin body by Drag City Casting that I created the master for and it comes with the chopped top. It was made from two Revell sedan bodies. Hopped up ARDUN flathead from Revell's '50 Ford Pickup with modifications. Chassis back-dated with early Ford cross members and rear axle. Tamiya Metallic Light Blue.
  10. Looking forward to this project. I never managed to get my hands on one of these since they came out 30 years ago and we never see them getting built. Your wheels are a great design. Will be need to see those in the flesh.
  11. I dig it! This has a really well done “modern traditional” style with the mix of metallic paint, whitewalls and then old spindly wire wheels. I really, really like the engine both because of the Thickstun equipment and how it’s paint detailed. Can’t wait to see more when you’re able to share.
  12. Looking good! Neat that you took my suggestion about the chop and rolled with it. I think that's just about the perfect way to chop one of these cabs. Now I would take the giant visor that comes with it and cut the front edge off of it just to make a little eyebrow across the top of the windshield. Also, I dig that your fitting that high tech Buttera chassis to it. That will be way cool!
  13. Firewall looks awesome so far!
  14. @mrm - Thanks man. I was really pleased with it. Still am. I feel like I got the stance and proportions right. Here's another I built about 10 years ago now. It's the AMT/Lindberg '34 Pickup cab, bed, hood, grill and interior parts on a Revell '32 Ford series chassis. Mild chop, shortened bed, lowered more, '32 kit 5-spoke American's in big Blue Streak slicks, '36 headlights, '37 taillights and gutless stock-ish flathead. Paint is Tamiya Light Gunmetal with Olive Drab #2 accents.
  15. Very cool. Thanks for sharing, Tim. And thanks to Norm for doing the comparison. That's not just a couple of revisions, there's quite a bit of changes going on there to ease assembly. The other two Double Kits have just as many changes, no doubt.
  16. This model is beyond BAD ASS! Just when I think I'm putting together some neat hot rods then a model like this pops up and slaps me in the face. Every detail is spot-on and true to full-scale accurate. The engine and chassis are killer. The interior and the shading on the wheels is superb! Good grief... ?
  17. This turned out absolutely wicked-cool! We hardly ever see these Anglia's getting built, let alone a proper 90's pro-street version. I like everything about it, especially the interior both in parts selection and execution. ?
  18. @mrm Can't wait to see your project! A general “build an 80’s billet car” thread inspired by this one was started in the Community Build section by @Mr. Metallicand has a decent amount of activity so far.
  19. @mrm Not stalled in the least. Generally, Sunday afternoon is when I get my bench time so one day a week is as fast as It’s gonna go. My updates will usually post Sunday nights which has been consistent since I started this thread. But, I’ll respond to people’s comments all through the week to help keep the conversation flowing. Of course, I have a wife and 3 kids so there’s some weekends that are out completely due to other activities. The only exception to the Sunday rule is when I’m going through the paint process as I do it all at work on my lunch hour or before heading home.
  20. I built this from an original issue AMT '34 Pickup about 6 years ago. Hard to tell but paint is actually very dark blue.
  21. @Jordan White That's awesome! I've wanted one of these and the sister '34 Phaeton since I was a kid. I can't wait to follow along as it gets built. Lots of pictures please!
  22. You must get in on this one! I’ve seen your older models. You got this!
  23. @Spex84 I don’t see any mention of make/model restrictions in the opening post so if you’re feeling a billet-clad mini-truck I say go for it! Living in SoCal my whole life I saw plenty regularly back in the day. That, or billet VW bug would be awesome, too. Since you mentioned it in my ‘29 Truck thread...
  24. Let me make it clear that for every successful model at that point in my life there were half a dozen that started out with big dreams and good intentions then went full FUBAR! ???
  25. @Mr. Metallic Thanks, Craig. I can remember being very proud of myself about this model back in the day. It was my first successful all-out Street Rod. The flathead was just a weird choice, though. The new version will have a proper small block! And no worries, the pair of 29 Pickups won’t get the attention shaft, LOL!
