  1. That's interesting. That was probably the basis for the "Diamond in the Rough " combination kit that featured the quad axle trailer from the 60 Chevrolet Apachie , the 53 Ford F-100 and of course the mangled Ford in the 80's ......................
  2. Sounds like fun...................
  3. The weathering on this metro looks great ! Jus show it on a shelf for all to enjoy .
  4. Apparently not .........................
  5. Harry, I can actually say I have worked on a couple of Ford Model T's . ONE THING TO REMEMBER : NEVER EVER EVER Wrap you're thumb around the starter crank!
  6. A very unique car ................................ Meanwhile , I still work on a variety of older cars for clients I've had for years . Most own either old Muscle cars , or old cars that need total restorations . I myself , I own a couple of Ford Flathead engines , one needing everything . My point is this . try pricing out engine re build parts . Sure Chevrolets are a dime a dozen . Parts are plentiful and you have a vast interchangeability . If yer looking for an in expensive way to have a street rod , buy the Chevrolet power plant . If you want Torque , hummmmm, Oldsmobile certainly comes to mind . Problem is , the amount of "Off the shelf" speed equipment isn't as great . Same goes for a lot of Chrysler engines . They aren't nearly as tolerant with "Mix an Match " as even the Fords . If space is a factor , the Small Ford , 260-302 is a logical choice . Chevrolet fills the bill too. For pure nostalgia , try a 390 Cadillac , a Buick "Nail Head " , or a 34o Chrysler ................
  7. I sense shades of an R & C Super Stock article , circa 1963..........................
  8. Tom, if you want , e-mail me off the forum and I'll dig out all the Ford Parts books , option sheets , colors , and photos of accessories I used to manufacture for "Snoot Ford vans ". I might have to get some very old negatives re printed as I'm going back to 1973. Over the years , I managed to buy a lot of "Rare " accessories for Ford Econolines and just store them . I'm still trying to buy a Sport Steering wheel for the 76-79 Ford Econolines .
  9. Mike , as a H A M B r , I like nuthin but old stuff! ANYTHING built afta Elvis passed , uh no personality. Besides , who is gonna care what a Honda Cvcc restored will bring in 50 years ?
  10. I'm with James on this one . If James likes it , it's QUALITY work. I've seen too much of his stuff close up .
  11. My son and I were discussing Chester Gould , the Dick Tracy artist . Wrist band radios , two way wrist televisions . They're on the market today as "I - phones and built in personal computers today . I wouldn't be a bit surprised as to teleportation machines or replicators doing dinner .
  12. Tom, the Rockwell mechanical meters went out I guess around 1975 or so . I used to own a cab in Houston . Mine had an electric meter just like you'res.
  13. Tom, just remember these vans had exposed hinges all the way around . Cloth straps were used as Door Checks . I see you're using a 1972 up grille . The only other thing I need to mention is the side markers , tail lights and rear reflectors which by the way were "Flush mounted ". Look, I'm not trying to be some kind of Econoline expert here . I worked on them, owned them, partied in them , etc. etc, etc .................
  14. This is ONE Show I wanted to go to , sadly I wasn't able to due to some family issues here ............... Once again, thank you for sharing a glimpse of some spectacular workmanship !
  15. Frank, GREAT JOB!!!!!!! this looks like the Monogram kit and it's not exactly the easiest kit to do as I just finished one myself . These Classic car kits were certainly some of Monogram Model's finest efforts . Comparing this to the Packard automobile kits , this one was much easier to build . I never got the Cadillac kits , so I don't know ho they compare .
  16. Course you can take it Macco and ..........................
  17. A M T's automobile hauler really is a "Dated " piece to start with . About the only Cab it ever looked "Correct" with was the Ford C-600. The Revell piece is ............... OVER PRICED . I don't know too much about the Beal tank trailer ...............
  18. Truly a "Blast from da past ".....................
  19. Daniel, here is a suggestion that could save ya. Since I do shows in different cities , I'll "MAKE " a box from Foam Core . Now , each box is actually cut to fit the individual vehicle . The end flaps are made so as to accommodate a continental kit on the back and so on . In that time , I've actually dropped the box on the floor with the kit inside with NO Damage . See, you also PIN the end flaps closed so as to allow someone to open the box from either end . I guess if you need , I can shoot a picture of what I'm talking about and send it to you .
  20. You been spendin TOOOOOOOOOOO much time at da H A M B !!!!!!!!!
  21. Yes, I remember these trucks . When they first came out , I was still in the wrecker business. I bought the 1980 Revell kit to do a wrecker , sold most of the kit off to another model builder who needed parts . The Destroyer model, I gave the tires away to a guy who needed them. I kept the body to duplicate a Wrecker I had . I never did finish it . I sold the real wrecker , I retired and I'm too busy doing exhibit work to deal with another wrecker now , model or otherwise ................
  22. Sam, yer not alone . I do the same with my dioramas myself . In my case , it's a box ..................
  23. These ain't my style . Maybe for the Slacker/ skateboard crowd
  24. Several years ago, I heard of someone doing a scale American Bantam . I can't remember if it was a Panel or a Pick Up ? I'm looking for one NOT on Evil bay .
