For anyone really folowing this subject in an archtecturial sense, the second shot is what is refered to as a "Denver " style station. These predated the "Porclean " boxes by about ten years .

Tim, I TOO made , well I tried to convey that the Revell 1964 Chevrolet truck kits, BOTH Of them went together nicely . The issues I pointed out were in the options and the inside of the Fleetside bed .
-
The glaring issue I have with the Revell and the "NEW TOOL " A M T 60 Chevrolet trucks is the totally incorrect inside bedside assembly. I can't for the life of me understand why the guys with their wood molds, slide rules in 1960 could do an accurate body and now , NO ONE Seems to be able to do so now ! Hey, it's probably correctable , but slicing out that bed side and doing it as it was supposed to is going to really require some serious cutting . Granted , the Revell 1964 Chevrolet cab represents a very nice rendition overall, I was miffed at the way they optioned out the truck. Let me go further . from 1960 to 1967, Chevrolet pretty much allowed any combination of ways to buy a truck all the way from a beater to something really decent . Starting with the cab, Chevrolet had the "Custom Cab, a nice package of appearance and safety options including a LARGE REAR GLASS. Usually, this was also followed by the addition of a Chrome piece that installed at the rear most corner with the words, Custom Cab. In my findings of vintage Chevrolet trucks , MOST OF THE TIME, this plate was attached to ANY Chevrolet truck with the LARGE REAR glass . A M T went in an opposite direction instead having the "Standard SMALL rear window " with the chrome Custom Cab attachment plate . Now the Chrome grille and Chrome Bumpers could have been bought separately too. However , in both cases , both manufactures chose to offer this and NOT the Chrome trim often chosen by truck buyers then. One has to go back to the A M T Annual trucks to see what a more or less "Properly optioned " Chevrolet truck actually looked like ............. As for the V- 8 and chassis in the revel trucks, both the Step side and the Short wheel base fleet side , the kit looks fine . Parts fit well , but they could have spent a moment describing the "Limited " interior color choices then.

Tom, given what M R C wants for one of those so called service stations , I know you and I can do much better . Even the totally out of scale gasoline pumps are a good scale foot too dang tall! I'll say it one more time to everyone , If anyone needs help doing a service station all ya gots to do is to P- M me !

Tom, the "Mattawan style was actually a re design on the old "Teague Porcelain box" from 1932. These roofs were a in expensive way to overhaul these stations in locations that weren't in the really Prime areas . The re design work came about as a result of Lady Bird Johnson's "Highway beauty campaign of 1966. I can P-M you some specifications of Texaco stations that were of a "Ranch Style " similar to the Shell oil Ranches and a few of the Union 76 remodels of 1967-69. You have a good starting point taking on such a station as Pure , Shell, Esso- Exxon was doing a lot of re modeling during this time .

Kevin, I've had my e-mails hacked into several times . Knowing what I do about computers and having an overall distrust of humans is why I have never done on- line buying or storage . That too is another reason I wont do business with Craig's list E- Bay or face book .

New Moebius Ford Pick-ups 1971 Ranger XLT AND 1969 Custom SWB
Eshaver replied to SteveG's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
Chuck , I agree with you're reasoning . . Look, having a halfway decent replica of a early 70's Ford cab should be enough to satisfy general masses . Realisticly, yep, theres gonna be a few that I'll hear at the show running this kit down as well as this board . I don't think it's possibile to do a " Perfect " kit in scale . Not trying to be a total pessimist . Look , I do Fiberglass molding for pieces . Trying to do a Glass mold dosen't always gureentee a scaled copy will always translate ........... -
An to think that I used to deliver moving boxes to Beekins agents in Oaklahoma , Arkansas and of course in Texas !

I'm speaking on two besides myself here on this subject . I know for a fact that the 1939 Studebaker Coupe Express truck and a Diamond T pick up would certainly be some unique pieces that would be welcomed . As far as cars go, perhaps any Pontiac , any of the Chevrolet sedans , Plymouth and Dodge coupes could work too.

Who else has had a disaster build?
Eshaver replied to clovis's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Greg, if ya think M P C " Flip Nose " kits were problematic , You obviously never saw a I M C racing Ford kit ............... At least the I M C / Linburg Dodge A-100 pick up could actually be built along with the Cougar II kit . For a Butter dish manufacturer, that really says something ! -
What, If Any, Model Kit Box Art Takes You Back?
Eshaver replied to gwolf's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I guess any A M T box art from 1960 to 1968. 1968 was A M T's " Zenith " . Those fabulous water color prints have never ever been duplicated by anyone on anything ever . -
Decal question for muscle cars
Eshaver replied to beeRS's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Greg is correct . I know on the Ford products , these decals went on after the car was painted and usually were a semi- gloss color . If you like , I can go take some pictures of an original 70 Mach I I'm rebuilding for a client . The car has been garaged since 1973 ............... -
Testors wet look clear
Eshaver replied to Wonderbread Kustomz's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Actually, krylon uses a much "Hotter " solvent than that found in Testors paints . If you ever visit Donn Yost's painting techniques, he himself uses a "FAST " evaporation lacquer thinner to thin Enamels . I can vouch for Mr. Yost's unusual methods . -
Both of ya , PLEASE share the construction with us here ! I for one love to see such major undertakings .

Annoying new ebay scripting practice
Eshaver replied to Ace-Garageguy's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
Thanks for sharing this information. The real issue is the people that are so BEHOLDEN to this evil place . I go several times a day to a service station site I belong to . too many people there DEPEND upon this place to supplement their existence anymore . As for me actually buying something off of Evilbay, uh watch da ground . When de lil Red guy pops up outta de ground an sez "Hi ya kids , I may then . Until such time ............................ -
FINE job young man, keep up the good work !

van builds finished or wip
Eshaver replied to modelguy45's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
More or less scratch built . This is a model of the 1956 L'Universalle van that was built by the G M C Truck and coach division for the 1956 Motorama . This van nearly went into production . Had it not been for a major alteration that G M accounting would NOT approve , the distributor interfered with the bottom of the seat !
