  1. Hey Scott, outstanding workmanship !
  2. So you REALLY wanted to see my work area ehh ??? No, it's no joke . Look, I'm too darned busy to clean up the place . I'm in the middle of yet another service station. This time , a Metal pre fab building that was a Gilmore station in Los Angles ...........
  3. Carl, if you check the doll house suppliers a German manufacture that I forget makes several "Impregnated " brick and stone cards . The small cards are about 5 X 7 going to an 8 X 10. Meanwhile , you could have taken Foam Core and with a VERY DULL pencil done a brick wall . If you had not used a straight edge , one could have done a "Stone " look too. If those ideas don't appeal to you , go to Michael's . They sell a "Stone Finish " spray paint over with the Krylon finishes . ...............
  4. They're buildable . I saw a lot of very desirable parts on them too.............
  5. Folks , A M T released that Ranchero in TWO different versions . Let's return to 1961 briefly . First, A M T sent out the 1961 ranchero as a Annual kit , curbside as Tom mentioned WITH enough parts to have had a "Customized Sedan delivery for 1.49. The custom parts were to become the "mild custom options . The second version was actually kind of a re release as this kit was then continued as a 1962 catalogue piece too. Yes, the 61 ranchero was also released as a Styline kit , 2.00. The Styline Ranchero was the 1961 Ranchero truck kit with Upholstery material , ( Peel -N -Stick ) and Three front extension options ! In addition, TWO Rear end treatments were added ! By that, a sheet of .040 plastic was added to make the rear extension even more radical. Even a tube of Genuine A M T Body putty was included along with a scrap of wet -or dry sand paper too!!!!!! Now the Sedan delivery was never intended to be built stock . An upholstered , pleated roof piece was supposed to have been used as Tom illustrated in his lavender Ranchero. To have ever built a Ranchero Sedan delivery, one would have had to done some alterations to the multi - pieced cover . First, a 1/8th slice out of the bottom would have been necessary to mate the rear to the cab . The "Custom " upper tail gate could be discarded as the 1-1 Sedan delivery had a station wagon type rear windscreen, not the small rear window opening that was included in the kit . Still, one could build a authentic sedan delivery with work . I built this one using a 1980's re release and an original rear section . Now as to the addition of ANY stock parts , I'd say please bring them on ! I have a disassembled 1961 Ranchero I scratch built a 200 cylinder for . I was so disappointed in having those awful three spoke wheels in that piece too. I also scrounged around and found several sets of the now impossible to find AMT "Compact " white wall stocker tires for this one too. These extremely hard to find tires were found in ALL A M T Compact annuals with the exception of the Pontiac Tempest which used a large tire . I'll be looking forward to also doing a 1960 model myself !
  6. Jon, welcome to da wonderful worl of kit bashin an scratch building ! Trust me on dis one , it's addictive !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  7. Hey, this one is already a winna !!!!!!!
  8. This one reminds me of a Cadillac camper I saw on the H A M B . Either way, it's EXTREMELY ORIGINAL and fresh too ! This is the kind of thinking I'm always into !!!!! Keep up the great work sir .
  9. Take a note on the Fiberglass..........................
  10. I think you did a great job of it . I bought one a couple of years back. I've yet to build it though . I've built several "Multi-Piece kits and I dare say this will become much more than taking my time and sizing parts together , one at a time .
  11. Glen, I wish several of the old Pactra colors were still around too. As for the old hawk kits , thanks for sharing them! I even had a couple myself in their day ............
  12. The adhesive on the sheets I've gotten all had problems . Then too, the humidity makes it more difficult to get onto the body too. I'll stick with their regular product. The decal paper, uh be sure and use Mico sol if you ever want a decal to stick down too..................
  13. Not a bad deal. I think I paid about a dollar a sheet when I needed the metal flake paper I used to do the Zeppelin Diner last month .
  14. Dan, uh Ford never offered the four cylinder , used the 170 and a optional 200 six , both with solid lifters . Further , Falcon rancheros never got a v- 8 until about 1965. Even then, it was the 289 and that was a regular performance version . Several front end revisions were made at Ford to have the addition available . Namely, heavier springs ............
  15. That floor is sumthin else !!!!!! I certainly wouldn't devote the time into it as you are probably going to enclose it . looks great none the less .....................
  16. Gee, I guess I came in 5th .......................
  17. Sam, being as you're going to do a stock Nash metropolitan, you might wish to make it complete as possible . Finding a Hubley Nash kit these days , uh nearly impossible . Why not also offer a convertible , they were popular back in the day ...............
  18. Over the years , I've built several versions of this kit . I just wish that the motor was a bit better detailed as in the Ford V-8. The distributor looks like a blob hanging off the crankshaft pulley and of course , the lack of spark plug wire conduits are certainly a needed item . Some careful thumbing through the Early Ford Club of America archives will result in a stunning re creation .
  19. I'm curious as to how you built a sliding door mechanism . Oh , it should have had one of my drink holders on the motor box too. Mine were the only ones manufactured to accommodate mugs and coffee cups too !
  20. If I had a penney for ever time I heard this LAME- O excuse , heck I'd own a Meusuiem fer old cars !!!!!!!!!!!
  21. Looks really fine to me . I wouldn't want to have to deal with the Fuel injection though. I'm a carburetor person ...................
  22. Ray, being as the Ford V- 8 mainly used Kraft paper and Cork , I would suggest a medium Brown and some Black to wash . I assuming that you're doing the 24 stud Linburg kit . That's referred to as a 59 AB . Intake manifolds were Aluminum and as such , should look like aluminum. If you have any further questions , please P- M me ...............
  23. Ken Hamilton did this station at one time . Being as I'm no airplane person, I don't know what plane was used . I see you posted that you wanted to do the station as though it were in the fifties . The building under the plane changed EVER so slightly over time . So to , the pumps changed . I think at first, , some A . O Smith dispensers were used . I know that Tokiem Explorers were used by about 1959.
  24. Overall, it's well photographed , looks very realistic and convincing .
  25. Mike , I'm not sure how many pictures you may have of this place . It's been discussed several times on the gasoline station forums . I have scattered pictures from several different eras in my collection. Do you know what year you might wish to present this place in ?
