  1. Man, is this H A M B friendly !!!!!!!!!!!!!
  2. James, the measurements look accurate enough . You may wish to do a Long Grease pit under the Big truck bay . A good many actually had this feature . These trucks usually had "Twin Post " hoists in the few shops I have towed large trucks into too. I forgot to mention this but a Suede finish paint , usually krylon's is a GREAT paint to replicate a simple concrete finish too. This paint is found at most Wal Wurls too. Don't forget a television , arcade games up stairs at the truckers lounge too. Oh yes , vending machines , microwave oven , an girlie calendar's too
  3. James , actually there are several ways you can do "Interior walls and really CHEAP TOO ! have you ever visited a Michael's Art store ? I bet ya have . Go over to the "Printed Papers " . hey they have all kinds of KWELL Looking Printed paper for about 1.50 a sheet . The sheets , they're 8 1/2 X 11 mostly . Apply with Elmers SPRAY ON CONTACT CEMENT . This is Silver Metal Flake paper in a bar scene . Now you can also visit the Evergreene Styreene and go for several "Tile Pieces . Those sheets run 5 X 7 and usually around 6.25 a sheet . Meanwhile , you can also go to the doll house companies and even get Brick and Stone embossed papers too ! Hey, just look for "HALF scale ", that's 1/2 inch equals a foot.
  4. One word , Foam Core !
  5. Hobby Lobby to me is a good hour drive , one way . Good to know though in the event that I do venture to the land of one of the scariest parts of Richmond Virginia to try and drive .............
  6. Gee, all the ugly stuff has been mentioned ............................ oh well, it's coffee time .
  7. Kenny, I'd like to come . You and the wife were really great to me the one time I was able to have come . I'll try for next year as well.............
  8. I got one from one of the members here a few years back. Yes , one of the White ones . They're great for what they are .
  9. I dunno, the model looks fine to me , especially considering that the company usually sells these for a mere ten dollars , usually less at Walgreens Pharmacies . As for the overall styling, that's debatable . Generic Motas is on a "Cheese Wedge " kick . They started with Cadillac and unfournately, it spread to it's remaining divisions . Would I buy one , yes , eventually ..............
  10. Looking at that build , it certainly looks like Chrysler missed a financial opportunity to have built a Ram truck!
  11. I'm big on re using the plastic from anything that's been vacuum formed as in a "CLEAR COVER from a cake . This Clear plastic HAS to be .030! Oh yeah, makes for some terrific display glass windows on dioramas too. I learned this from our own George 53 too. I know he won't put pictures of his builds up, but the guy still is onto something by re using plastic parts to scratch build stuff!
  12. Tom, probably the true reason behind the chassis engineering is on account of the same company doing a 1971-3 Chevrolet Van at the same time they were doing the 69-74 Ford . Width wise , there were relatively close . I think it's interesting that they chose to do the "Slide side option as it really didn't catch on until the "Super- Snoot", uh 76-91 versions appeared . Oh sure , sliding doors were available from Ford . Chevrolets lousy dual action latches made a lot of , ( MY CUSTOMERS ) livid at the fact that the side door mechanism would break . This was especially true in the very early years of the "Door Extenders ", a product that was mandatory on Chevrolet vans with any kind of a wide tire . If you wanted the Fiberglass flares which I manufactured , yes, you had to run them . Now Tom, are you going to do this van with a 240 six or the 302 V-8? I ask over the fact that there were TWO different Motor boxes that were used . The V-8 box was pointed at the rear and a good four inches shorter over all and came up a little shorter than the six . The six box was set out to allow the driver a greater access than the passenger side , was flat at the rear and was overall somewhat more vertical because of the length of the block and the height . Don't forget too, that the dash was designed two ways as well. The vans WITH a radio had a open slot beneath the radio . Vans without a radio could have had a lockable glove box . In addition, the 69-74 Ford Econolines also were the last to offer a "Flip- Fold " passenger seat too. These were a not too comfortable "Jump seat " with the ability to allow one to fold the back forward and then lift up slightly and fold it so as to allow a long load on the passenger side . Persons wishing air conditioning were treated to a somewhat abysmal set up where the driver got the A/C alright , on their side . There was also a very RARE auxiliary heater option too. It was located under the truck and on the drivers side . Also , in 1969-70, one could have ordered for the last time a Genuine Chrome FULL horn ring too ! I used to use my little known options at truck In's years ago when we would sit around a campfire getting sauced . Dodge also had some interesting quirks of options too.
  13. Tom, I guess I should send pictures of my 78. It's original almost to the Wimbelton White . Currently, it only has 78,000 on the clock . I had to break down over the week end and buy another seat for it . The original seat was really bad when I bought it several years back. Between finding someone wanting to re cover it and buying a Mint seat out of a low milage 91 for 20.00, the new seat won out .............
  14. Manny, that certainly looks real to me ! The "Factory looking colors , the rust, crumpled in the right places , etc !
  15. I've wanted to see one of these done since I first got wind of the kit a couple of years back . Please tell us how this kit goes together . I think a revue would do wonders for this kit .
  16. Tom, I see you have one of the 1-24th scale Ford Econolines Wal Wurl sold several years back.. I stripped the paint on mine cause I thought the graphics were kinda cheesey. Overall, the details were actually very nice . The interior was strange with the large Bench in back though ...........
  17. Fine job young man, keep up the good work..........................

  20. It definitely has that "Sinister " look to it !
  21. Andy, I just re read you're thoughts for a third time , very impressive ! You could be onto a new retail venture an maybe ya don't even realize how lucrative you're idea really is . Instead of relying on someone else , I suggest you write a business plan , in corporate even with family an go for it !!!!!!!!!
  22. If it's a subject that interests me , it's sold ...........................
  23. Jada's Econoline is about a quarer of an inch too wide . if someone were to slice it through the center and glue it together , one MAYBE could do a halfway decent copy of an Early Econoline . I've thought about doing it , but I have too much Movie prop work and diorama work going on to even consider doing a model for me now .............
  24. Tom, if ya do this one in resin, be sure an LET ME KNOW ASAP!!!!!!!!!!! . This is one resin body I will buy and probably more than one too. IO used to have a 70SWB, a 69 LWB E-300, a 70 SWB display side , and a 73 SWB with a slide side , first year they did one . Now If I could find a Rust free SWB with a 240........................
  25. I guess chalk it to a "Senior Moment ". heck, I've misplaced parts , tools , hell even an N O S shifter from a 1970 Mustang only to find stuff has been stuffed into wherever when I'm digging around for something completely un related . I have no organization anymore . I fix customer cars as someone might running outta gasoline ........................ Yeah, that is a scary scene !
