Don''t be jealous. As I have said on many of these builds, they are mostly for someone else. guy pays me in models and cash to build for him. I like the building process better than the displaying part, so we both win. This one may have to stay at my house for a while though. It's a really nice looking car and has been a pleasure to build. The "client"/buddy has bought me a Moebius 56 Chrysler so I'll have wheels for my 55 C300 in the Diecast section. That's a benefit of our deal. He has sent me some really nice Mint cars as well. And our collections don't overlap very much so we're not competing for the same cars. He sent me a box the other day with 2 Tamiya (morgan 4/4 and lotus 7), 1 Hasegawa (Lancia Stratos Stradale), Testors Posche 944 Conv., and a Revell BMW Z-1 Roadster to be built when I get to them. In addition to the 6 others at home still in line. Of these, all but the BMW I would love to have built for me, but they just never fit my collection and were always kinda pricey. So I get to build and enjoy for a while, then turn them over to him. No rush from him and he understands my process and timing.

Thanks. The paint is not as good as photos show. HAs some orange peel. But I'm building for a guy that doesn't mind and I hate polishing paint. So I'll likely leave it. I suspect the metal plate is the transmission. I will paint it a dark metallic next time I am working on the car.

I got 3 new AWs last night. The 76 Buick Estate Wagon, gold 67 Eldo, blue 63 Dodge. I forget to post those here. They had a 66 Impala in black, but I don't want a black one - i like yours. Is that the 65 or 66? I have a red 65. I have uncles that had 65 and 66s back in the day. The 65 was an SS car and he parked it at edge of woods and it rusted into a heap. Dang it. Good haul you got.

Here's an update. Had to relocate the rear wheels somewhat. AFTER I thought I had them right. You pretty much should get there front done and body and interior on to figure out proper wheel placement to get the rears at a good height and centered in the openings. Them glue them in. On the rear suspension, see the photo with the shocks and hoop. I had to cut the shock bottoms off and just sand them till they fit back and they aren't even but car seems to sit level.

This is a nice kit. Fun to work on. Nothing special happening, just a box stock build. Root beer metallic extreme lacquer.

Hmmmm I was thinking earlier 50s myself but I agree with you

We have an old lap top somewhere. Will this work on a regular DVD player or Xbox? I can enjoy the magazine and force family to enjoy it with me on the TV. LOL. Can it be copied to a separate PC? So I can look at it at work as well without having the DVD with me everytime? Any way to trasnfer files to google drive or something so I can see it on my phone? These are my questions and probably easier to get an answer here. I have almost every issue since 1986, but nothing before and I probably missed a few issues in there when I was buying off the rack.

More Civilised Debate On This Forum
randyc replied to Bugatti Fan's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I wish Gregg luck. I love this forum best of all the model forums I've looked at. Best combination of building and collecting. I have followed the magazine for many years. tried to carry it when I owned a hobby shop. Had a LOT of requests for it between issues. And I would gladly trade in my other subscription for MCM, I think. Seemed to be a better fit for me. I hope it comes back. -
Crazy prices on the auction Bay.

I bet that one shows back up after the buyer doesn't pay. But what do I know? -
And it seems like I remember the vantastic and coupester were a different plastic "alloy". The Smoothster version and this one were an unusual plastic. I thought it's kinda "soapy" feeling. And definitely wouldn't put it in a dehydrator to dry. Have had bad results when plastic feels like this.

Looks good to me! Nice!

And my buddy got a 56 300 Moebius. He is sending it to me for the wheels. So I can fix the wheels to look more better. lol Thanks for compliments
-
Thanks for all the compliments. I built the original issue in yellow. Should get it out and take photos of both together. Also show the progress of my building skills maybe. I also have the "Vantastic" version as well. I bought it for the chassis for a street rod project but never used it. I started the "coupester" but never finished it and sold it.

This is the old smoothster kit. Straight outta the box. Chrome was spotty so I touched it up with Molotow and foiled all of the grill bars. The only parameter I was given is "purple", so it is Boyd's people Pearl. First can of purple I came across.

Nice start. I have a diecast "road rat" of this one. I have thee Galaxie sedan delvery version. Can't wait to see how this one ends up.

I was well pleased with this one. Wish I had a 56 to go with it. I have a 1/18 Maisto '56 that I would like to get rid of, but not till I find a replacement in 1/24-25. I guess I could get the Moebius and build it up. It has two set of wheels as well. That would give me a set for this car. I would like to build that one.

Well, I got in a hurry and it has smudges. I'll fix those. I lost screws. But it is done for a moment. For the hood, I didn't take a picture, but the top of the hinge pins need some grinding. And the hood is sensitive to how tight the screws are under the front. You can see in one of the photos that it's up a little still. I may put some CA in the screw holes when I find more screws. The interior comes out nice. I didn't do clocking but that would make it really nice. I couldn't find my 57 300 kit (yet), so I'm stuck work these chrome generic baby moons. Other that that, I just foiled and paint detailed. Also a comparison photo beside the Lincoln Premiere for size comparison. It's pretty close to 1/24 I'm thinking.
-
This is a 1/24 according to the box. Probably a bit small, but still a pretty large car. I've never seen a motor Max at the local wal Mart in the car aisle. Somebody left it there I guess and we were just walking by and the white pointed it out to me. I have it blasted apart and did some trim work today. Not improving like I hoped. The details are either soft or too heavy. The interior is going to be pretty good and the engine insert is nice. I'll start a post of its own later. I was able to grind on the hood hinge to get the hood to lay down better. More later

77- 78 Thunderbird in 1/25th scale. first copy
randyc replied to Paul Hettick's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Paul, please don't let this mess "bring you down". You have produced an amazing replica. It's yours to sell as you wish and I wish you luck and success. -
Found this one at Wal Mart in the school supplies as we were leaving. $9.97 or something like that. I think it will detail nicely. And I'm thinking I have some 57 300 wheel covers that will work close enough. Or something from the stash. Gotta fix that hood too, but it's gotta come apart to do the interior.
-
That's pretty neat. I have a few of those still in boxes. But maybe not that old. Been a long time since square packaging. What's the copyright date on that set?
-
These "classics" are definitely not like what most builders are used to. And you will use all of your skils in some way or anoter on these I think. But the results are pretty rewarding.

Jo-Han Dodge Dart '62 Convertible - resto in "gold'n brown"
randyc replied to Tommy124's topic in Model Cars
So nice. Wish stuff like this was still available. I'm to a point where this is what I want to build and detail.
