  1. I'll definitley have to get myself one of these. I've been trying to hunt one of these down for a while, and almost bought an orginal issue from my LHS before it closed down. I'm envisioning a 4x4 single cab conversion, and maybe even a fuel injected 351, and add the "West Coast" mirrors from an AMT '92 F-150 to complete the look. The nice thing about having it in plastic is not having to worry about rusted out rear wheel arches that plague nearly every 80-96 Ford truck and Bronco that resides in the rust belt, that is unless I decide to do some weathering . Or I could replicate my Dad's old '89 F-150 by performing the modifications stated above, but substituting a 302 for the 351. Maybe I'll have to grab two!
  2. I'd like to throw my hat into the ring on this one. I've got a builtup '93 Cobra that I did a while back and was never really happy with it. I imagined it as a plain jane LX with a Cobra body kit, 2 tone paint, and centerline wheels of all things. I though i hit the nail on the head at first, but the more I looked at it, the less I liked it. I want to tear it back down and buid it as a near stock '93 Cobra, loosely based on Muscle Mustangs & Fast Ford's prject "Stolen Goods". For those unfamiliar with it, it's a 1,331 mile car that was purchashed less its drivetrain and suspension. The crew over at MM&FF installed a 347 stroker based on the new Boss 302 from Ford Racing, a full Maximum Motorsports suspension, 5 lug Baer brakes, among other go fast goodies. I'm thinking I'll doctor up the kit engine to look the part, and wing it for the rest. I'll be sure and keep track of when the build starts, and it should run alongside me replicating my buddy Dale's '97 Cobra for car show season.
  3. I remember when this rendering appeared in Custom Classic Trucks. I think that was the original idea. It used a factory(not sure if GM did crews back then, I know Ford did)crew cab on a standard cab longbed chassis. The idea was it is supposed to be like alot of the new 1/2 ton crew cabs they sell now, with a sporty short bed, shorter than a standard 6 1/2 foot box. I liked the idea too, and I think a Bumpside or Dentside Ford would work well for this concept too.
  4. I got introduced to models when my grandmafound what remained of my dad's old big rigs from the '70s. I think I was 3 or 4 at the time. Among that stash was an AMT '73 Ford pickup. My dad cleaned them up andI still have them. I remember him swapping in a Cummins from a newer Peterbilt into the 1st issue of the Pete wrecker and installing a 5th wheel. Ironically, I put the Detroit from the wrecker into my own version of the newer Pete that the Cummins was taken from about 2 years ago. The first kit I did myself was the 1/32 Bigfoot Snap Tite from the mid '90s. I still have it, but I treated it to some detail painting last year. My first glue kit was the much unloved MPC General Lee. No paint, but for some reason I did paint the exhaust manifolds and the grille inserts black. I still have that too, but ruined it by hogging out the wheel wells with a woodburner, painting it green and turning it into a dirt track hero.
  5. Hi everyone. Last night my family and I suffered a terrible tradgedy. My Dad, Jim, passed away at the age of 50. He was a loving father, son, husband, and friend. He was a lifetime trucker, and while I was used to him being gone alot, there is no comfort to be found in this. He was in perfect health, his only ailment being he was a borderline diabetic. He suffered a massive heart attack and passed instantly depite efforts by my Mom and I performing CPR. He was my best friend, and my life will never be the same. I feel the worst for my brother, since Dad didn't get to see him get his drivers license or graduate high school, both of which he was there for me. All I ask isfor your deepest prayers for me and my family and friends as we work through this terrible tragedy. Left to right: Me, My Grandpap Tom (Dad's Dad), Dad, and my brother Cody
  6. Nice lookin' ragtop. I'm with everyone else on the pony wheel debate. The best looking stock wheel ever put on these cars. I really like the Bullitt wheel too, but it doesnt look right to me on a Fox. Whale392, the Cobras look good on your hatch, I've seen quite a few Foxes with these wheels, and must say they fit them very well. I've got quite a soft spot for 5.0 Foxes, and would love to get my hands on a 1:1 5.0/5spd LX coupe someday.
  7. I had a though to maybe try scratching my own TTB outf of styrene. The shapes are fairly simple, and I've got my F-150 in the driveway to take measurements and pics off of. This leads me to my next question, does anyone cast resin Dana certersections? I would prefer just a center, but a whole axle would work.
  8. Maybe my memory was a little fuzzy with the leaf/coil deal. I could've swore thats how it looked on the box, but who knows. Thanks for all the help guys. Might have to grab at least one of those Broncos and see if I can cast it myself. I've done a little personal resin work with mostly good results, so why not? I'll have to get one and see what the pieces look like. I really didn't want to go through the hassle of this, but I guess I don't have a choice.
  9. Thanks guys. The problem is I don't want to have to bash the front end from another truck, because then I've got a bunch of Bronco shells sitting around. I'm building a couple factory stockers so I need the TTB, or else I'd just throw a solid Dana 44 or 60 up front. Plus, I looked at the box on the AMT Bronco, and if memory serves me right, it had leaf sprung TTB like the F-250 which is not correct for a Bronco or F-150. However, that could come in handy in building my '85 F-250 by bashing the Bronco and F-150.
  10. Hey everyone. Is there anone out there that sells a resin Twin Traction Beam suspension found under '80-96 trucks and Broncos? I've used a Revell '80 Bronco under an AMT '95 F-150 with good results, but I can't find the Bronco around here anymore since my closest LHS went out of business, and I don't wanna have to track a few more down for some other trucks I want to build. I know Bigjeepzz Resin made one some time ago, but I don't think he ever got back into the resin game.
  11. Neat project. A CRV in any form is not likely to be seen on the trail, but heck, 10-15 years from now, it may become the new Samurai. It kinda reminds me of Four Wheeler's project TraiLex from a few years back. They took a Lexus GX 470 and made a pretty capabe wheeler out of it. It had body armor pretty similar to this, since the stock rear bumper cover wrapped around to the quarter panels. It was a crying shame when they gave it back to Lexus cause it went to the crusher. All that red tape about the liability of selling a modified vehicle.
  12. I just tried this out on a 67 Chevelle to replicate a full quarter replacement. I used aluminum tape instead of foil though. It's thicker and more durable than BMF, but is a little cumbersome and tricky to work with. Neat trick!
  13. As far as I know, Twin I Beam made its debut in '65. The F-100 that year displayed it on its fender badges.
  14. Top notch weathering there Ryan. Those look just like the wheels on the old storage trailer over at my pap's garage, other than the fact they have black paint flaking off instead of blue.
  15. Lookin' good. I like you attention to detail on the dash. The black/orange scheme has an old skool Harley/Hotrod feel to it and suits it well.
  16. Another amazing Mack, looks way better than most R models that have lived in the oilfeilds. Where did you get all the little photoetch pieces?
  17. Nice work on "Sublime". They're both awesome, but I just can't help prefering the green/black combo. Ever since Dad bought his new 379 in 2000, I've had a thing for those colors.
  18. Nice work as always. I remeber seeing the Jeep and SSR panel in CCT. Speaking of trucks, do you have any Fords? A 73-79 or 92-96 would be nice, but anything would do. Thanks.
  19. MOW stands for maintiance of way, typically a railroad truck.
  20. Thanks, Dave. I already picked up a '93 Cobra to use for the donor car and have it stashed away until I collect all the parts. The wheels were stock 95-96 GT wheels, as Joey's car had a 5-bolt conversion. I don't know if such a car was ever kitted, but I'm looking. I heard something a while back about Reliable Resin offering the Notchback body and LX taillights, anyone have any further info on that?
  21. Hey everyone. I don't usually post up in the general section but I am in need of some help. Two weeks ago I lost a good friend of mine in a tragic accident. Those who live in western PA might have seen on the news that Joey Fisher, a senior along with me at Elizabeth Forward High School, lost his life when he lost control of his '89 Mustang while leaving school. I knew Joey since first grade and we were good friends until the end. What I would like to do is to build a car like Joey wanted his to be in scale since I don't have the time or cash to build a real one. I am in desperate need of a resin Mustang LX coupe body to do this. I have seen the transkits out there but they are a little hard to come by. If anyone can point me to one or has one they'd be interested in selling, I'd appreciate it. I'm looking to use the engine from the Revell Saleen Speedster, sice Joey wanted a procharger. Plans also call for sunset orange paint and SVT Cobra wheels. Any help in the right direction would be appreciated.
  22. As the owner of a '94 Ford, I must say that I love it! Other than paint it looks just like a truck that West Homestead bourough has. Why a municipality would spec a truck light duty like that I don't know, but if its any consolation, it'll run forever with that 6 in a row. Ken, I have plans to get a hold of one of those engines to build an I-6/ 5 speed 2WD XL stripper.
  23. I absolutely loved the pics, Tim, especially that two tone 389. The green Wal-Mart trucks were neat too. In case you're wondering, I do have a thing for Green Peterbilts.
  24. That's a unique take on tri tone paint. Nice job, Tim
  25. Nice looking fleet rig. Mack R models always wear green well.
