Guys.... Somewhere I thought I saw round2 re-releasing the 1/25 USA-1 monster truck, based on the Coca Cola monster truck kit, but can`t find it. Has anyone else seen this?

1/16 scale kits, good ,bad, ugly?
Hawk312 replied to Oldmopars's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I don`t have many "In Progress" threads, as it takes everything in me just to have time to build, much less post. I did make the wheels and tires for this. For the wheels, I drew them up on my computer, then uploaded them to shapeways for a master. Then, after some cleanup, I made a mold and cast them in resin and sent them off to chrome. I am hoping to build a couple more with those wheels. Here are more pics of the Trans Am though: I`ve built a bunch of the 1/12 Camaro and Corvette kits over the past couple decades. I can post some links to them if that is what you are looking for. Here is one of my favorites: -

The Round1 1/16 Firebird kit is nice, but does take a little work, especially in the rear. Here is mine which is actually the turbo kit with my wheels, but it is based off the same kit: The Revell 1/16 GTA and Iroc kits build well, with some inaccuracies though. Here is the Iroc kit: The 1/12 Camaro and Corvette kits also come out excellent with some work: The 1/8 Corvette and Camaro kits also build well: And I agree with others....the 1/12 Revell Shelby GT kit is awful!!! -
Is that it for all of 2021?

Just wondering what you guys are using for drill bits. I am having some very bad experiences with bits either snapping with first use, or just not "cutting" into the plastic and taking forever to drill, for example, plug wire holes. I have tried a couple of those blue rectangular containers with the clear slider from Ebay, which seem to vary from set to set, and the metal tin sets as well. The best I have had so far was the X-acto set in the circular container with clear top, but they are a little expensive. Thanks~

Great work!! I wish they would re-release that kit!

That has always been my frustration with the 70 Camaro kit....the headlight buckets are totally unconvincing. So this has improved with this kit? Anyone have pictures with the headlights in yet?

Adding a "crease" to a model car body?
Hawk312 replied to Hawk312's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Thanks guys! That gives me some ideas to start with. That truck looks fantastic Plowboy! Thanks Ace. I am wondering if scribing the back side where the crease should be would make this look more "clean" than scribing on the front side. Have you ever done that? -
As you can see from the pictures below, the crease that exists in the real car, running front to back down the side of the car, is much more defined than the model body. This results in the model body appearing more "slab-sided" and the bottom of the body along the sides sticking out much further between the front and back wheels. What would you guys do to make the sides look more realistic? Heat with hot water and bend? I am kinda worried, with how much bending is needed, that it might distort the roof and window area.

So who will be the first to convert it to a split bumper? ? I know I had trouble getting the front end, especially the headlights, to look convincing on the old kit. To my eyes, it doesnt look like the headlights have changed much? It is nice to finally have a full front bumper kit! And glad they included those tires!

For what it's worth, I have the 1/24 turbo firebird snap kit and the 1/8 turbo trans am and the 1/8 '79 Trans am kits from Monogram. All of them seem very nice, though you will pay a fortune for the big kits, and the small kits are snap. I got good results out of the MPC 1/16 firebird as well.

X2 The art on both look fantastic! And I like seeing the Monogram logo again!
-
Sorry, I got my S/S and SSTs mixed up. Those on the box are the ones I was hoping would be included.
-
The ElCamino originally came with a nice set of SST wheels. I wonder if we will see them in the re-release?

Atlantis Models has bought another lot of tooling/molds.....

Do we know where the molds for the Monogram kits from the 70s and 80s are? Lots of 1/8 lots I would like to get without paying $500 for them. -

Arrggg Why not? I am waiting to see so many late 70s and early 80s kits from them (Monogram). -
Thanks! This is still one of my favorite builds. Wish I could have kept it.
-
When is that available?
-
The monster truck looks like the old 1/25 USA-1 kit with Coke markings. Anyone in the aftermarket make USA-1 decals.....
