PEGASUS! Flying Mustang A/G Racer...Finished Photos!
Scott Colmer replied to Ira's topic in Model Cars
Wow Ira! This has to be my favorite one of the series. The color and engine detail are spot on. I love the design! You might have enough to mount them up like a race scene. Been a fan since the Moon Cube days. Scott -
The front wheel in your pic, Harry, are from a different kit. I still have a set of the originals and they are as you see in David's build. He said they are not glued which may explain why they have not been fitted to the tires. Probably some of the worst spoke wheels ever molded. They would not fit in the hard plastic tires without massaging. I remember as a kid I tried forcing them in the tires by bitting them. ...Vun spoke, Twooo spokes, Vif-tee spokes. Wah hah ha. I read a Tom Daniel interview on the Munsters cars..... I hope I get this right. Barris ask TD to do some drawings and gave TD some general guideslines. Barris needed them pretty quick. TD whipped up both the Grandpa's Coffin car and the Coach. Barris build them. You can decide who should get the credit. You did a great job, David! Scott

I grew up on rotary cars. That one is an RX4. Sounds just incredible!

I hardly ever buy stuff anymore. But.... I have been carrying around the left over parts from the Young American dragster I built as a kid. Figure close to 40 years ago. I probably had enough to recreate it. I lost out on a lot of E-bay bids on a boxed original. When the reissue came out I told my wife I was planning to finally get one. This is what was on the table when I came home from work. That there is a good woman. http://www.fotki.com'>Hosted on Fotki The reissue and my collection of parts. Scott

The long retired Goldenrod sat in front of the NHRA museum for quite a while before it was moved elsewhere. It looked a little rough, but it was neat to see. I think it had a full IRS and all wheel drive. Here is a shot of the Flintstone resin cast of it. It would be fun ti try to fill a vacuum formed one with engines someday. Really like to look of LSR cars. http://www.fotki.com'>Hosted on Fotki Scott

I am a tosser. When I am working at my bench and I get in the zone, I will toss the file or knife I am using somewhere on the bench without looking at where it goes. Then I have to find it agian. It's even worse when I toss a part like that. So far the best cure is try to toss tools to the left and parts in a tray at mid center. I am about 80% with hitting the mark. When the tool pile gets too deep, it's time to clean the bench. I really don't worry about putting too much (even barely) visible detail into a build. I love that part. Although finishing something would be nice. It's been a couple years now. Scott

That is some impressive restyling. You did a fantastic job on blending the lines of the two cars with out any hiccups. Great concept! Excellent work! Scott

Manuel, The spinner gun received a "welding tip" of plastic. The spinning created heat via friction. The welding tip melted into the two pieces to be joined. Put a new tip on when the old one was used up. A single tip would make about a 3" long bead. It was not that hard with a little practice. I think I was 12 or 13 when I built mine. Scott

Quick time line, Steven King wrote the book - By far the scariest book I've ever read. Kubrick did the move with Jaaaaack. - Not a bad movie, but to me a disappointment because I was looking for a visual rendition of the book. The mini series followed later. It was much closer to the book. I think Steven King had a hand in it too. I've never seen the mini series all the way through. I'll have to check it out. Scott

Oh Dang! Wel done. I just started rereading that book and was surprised to see it mentioned and I did not remember it! Bragging rights are all yours! Scott REDRUM.

I don't think it actually does. In fact- I not surprised Mark came up with something , but never knew that picture existed. I'll give you a clue. It is fictional

Where would I find the model called Ed Roth's Violent Violet Volkswagon? Tick tick tick. Scott

Why on Earth did you get me that
Scott Colmer replied to lanesteele240's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Actually I can relate to this topic. I have been working on a project the requires widening soft, rubber tires found in a Peterbuilt kit. I have been fretting on how to keep the tread pattern consistent in height on the different slices of tread and could not find the correct size tubing to support them. Well.. We had a white elephant exchange at our house and I ended up with a clear plastic Candy Cane full of those little bottles of some booze called Pucker. Rather than try to drink away my concerns about the tires, I went to the garage and found that the tube that held the bottles was the perfect diameter I needed. I ran back in the house and let everyone know how happy I was that the tire problem was solved. It was kind of a Animal House "Otis My Man" moment. Scott -
Wow! It's neat to see that this idea is getting used. The one in the pic looks great. You will find it can be expanded upon. You guys couldn't find the foam ear plugs to put on the end? I got mine from work, but I figured you cold find them at home depot. Scott

This is really, really great scratchbuilding. Your handmade parts have a very tight and clean look to them. Always been a fan of your stuff, Dirk. This will be another masterpiece. Scott -
Wow, what a thread. Amazing talent and creativity in these posts. That steam engine is great. The working top is sick. Andy, that "Charger" is so very cool. Injector manifold with butterflies. How good is John Teresi?
Scott Colmer replied to Scott Colmer's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Since this thread has morphed into a copyright discussion, I can see merging it with the thread mentioned above. Dropping it? I disagree. Not all of us reach the level where our pics can be stolen and resold, but all of us should be aware of the possibility. Scott -
How good is John Teresi?
Scott Colmer replied to Scott Colmer's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Sorry for being cryptic on this one. I noticed that nowhere in the ad did it say this was a photo of a model. To me, it seemed the ad was representing Johns work as a pic of the actual event. If I did not know about this model I might have believed it. That does say a lot about John's work. As far as John getting royalties, I wondered, but thought he was. Bummer because he deserves them. His model, his photography. Scott
