I just got back from the GNRS at the Pomona fairgrounds. My Pop came down from Nor Cal. Got to chat with Rusty, and John at the Model show. LOVED the Bonneville exhibit. Lots of great cars. What was really great this year was the owners were hanging around. It seems like every time I stopped by a car I liked the owner would came and talked to us about the car. Everyone was very friendly. It really made for a great show. One of my favorites was the guy who did an endo at 230mph in his LSR coupe. Just crazy. For those who are going on Sunday, I hope you get the same experience. Oh - Beers were 14.00 each. Can't have everything. Scott

The Zen of Model Building
Scott Colmer replied to afx's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I think you said it very nicely, JC. The satisfaction of modeling a single element in high accuracy can be just a great as a completed project. - or at least pretty close. (Although a super clean box stock build can be a treat to see also,) Scott -

Awesome job on the hatch and hinge, Chris. Great engineering! Your craftsmanship is top notch. I "get" going back and lining up the holes. Just one of those things that won't leave you alone. If the rivet heads are big enough to cover, you can cheat by making the a bit oblong. Great work on a amazing replica! Scott -
I wish I had a mounted wheel and pedals to go with the wii. I had one several years ago for my PC. It was fantastic. The all or nothing throttle of the wii controller is OK, but no ideal.

Last night just after dinner (about 7pm) wife my urged me to give my Christmas present a try…Need for Speed Most Wanted. After a bit of figuring out I got it going and WOW! What graphics and what fun! So many different cars to try, lots of places to race. I put the controller down and went up stairs because it was going to be an in-home movie night for the two of us. She was asleep on the couch. It was 11:30. So I thought I would race a little more. Next time I looked up and it was 1:30am. FInally had to call it quits. The Ariel Adam is by far my favorite. Hits tops speed go 160 in no time. Handles like a go cart. Thanks Honey! Scott

I think he is going to go after her too, That will leave the group down a man when the Governor attacks. I also think the Governor will get ahold of Michone and Hershal. He mentioned "missing people" in his rally speech to his group. Tonight should be a good episode. We all are still trying to figure out who was feeding the rats to the walkers. Best bet is Lizzy. What do you think.

We are huge Walking Dead fans in our house. Same as Jon we started watching last year and used netflixs to catch up. That led to some late nights ini the middle of the week. Now we also watch Talking Dead after. We all have predictions on how Daryl will react when he learns Rick banished Carol. We just started Breaking Bad too. We are in Season 4 now. Another great show.

I built all the Tom Daniel models as a kid. He was a hero to me. I've told this story before, but... When I was 12ish I wrote at letter to Tom Daniel at Monogram Models. I included a drawing of a VW trike. In my mind I dreamed of Tom being inspired by my drawing enough to create a model kit. Well, it did not work out that way. I received a letter back from a marketing person thanking me for the nice drawing. And they sent the drawing back. I was crushed. What I learned as an adult, Tom had left Monogram by that time and they were recycling his ideas. Fast forward to 2012. I participated in an on line contest that Tom Daniel judged. I placed in the unfinished class and received an e-mail from Tom. He talked about my entry and gave me some ideas for the finished product. Childhood dream come true. I think my building is inspired by all the designs of his I built as a kid. That would be a dream job to design cars and see them as models. Other than his custom Vette, I do not think he ever modeled an existing car. Scott

I actually find myself channeling Tim Boyd (among others) quite a bit. I think Mark said it best." Why bash SA? It won't make MCM better." Scott -
Now you are getting there Bobby? This is one my favorites. Can't wait until you bring out the "big guns." Scott

I almost bought just the box on the red top view of a gasser vette - AMT or MPC. They wanted too much. Could someone post the pic? One of my all time favorites. Thanks -
Looks like a bad day for Alice in Wonderland.
