  1. that's ok, since Pegasus is still in business making wheels and the ones who are in your links are stating they are no longer producing wheels or are closed.
  2. Out of curiosity, does the NewMan sponsorship have anything to do with the drivers true identity?
  3. Great job, especially like your interior. What color is that red you used?
  4. I'll take those "ugly" front tires and wheels if you really hate them. They're perfect for vintage sprint car/super modified builds. ?
  5. Great looking build. I'm a fan of the roadster pickup, and this phantom is really looking good. On another note, I believe your quick change center is from the AMT/Round2 dirt modified kits, like the '40 Ford, '37 Plymouth, Gremlin, etc. They're based on a '70s Tobias modified. That center section was chrome with plain unplated axle housings, the axle housings were Frankland/Winters style.
  6. that's kinda what I was thinking, but my kit got put to the bottom of the stack until I can get around to replacing the missing half of the engine block. So I couldn't check my kit number.
  7. While breezing through todays online sale flyer from Squadron I spotted the Revell model A Roadster kit on special for $21.99 and listed as "in stock soon" kit RM4322. Does Squadron know something we don't, or being more a military type sales outlet have they just not got the word about the mold tooling disaster yet?
  8. I wish I did, but the things I remember have been mentioned elsewhere, I got the ones I remember are from the show. I'm not sure but I think you can find reruns of it on line.
  9. The top has been chopped 1" in the A pillars and the rear of the cab has been pie cut just enough to let the front settle down in place, NOT sure, but I think (yes I know how dangerous that can be) that the top above the drip rails has had a slight amount of material taken out to make it look a little flatter and not as bulky looking.
  10. Thanks!! I was goinfg to ask if it had hit the shelves yet. You just solved that question for me. ?
  11. the roof, quarter panels, deck lid, hood, and fenders are all body items that are factory sourced body panels on the new bodies of NASCAR race cars. A lot different than the bodies of '90s and early 2000's that looked like they had been stepped on, twisted and tweaked to the point that the only recognisable piece was the roof.
  12. Just in case you're thinking that they'd be faster because of better aero. The newer cars are way better in that department. The newer cars are only held back by the engine restrictions, and in most cases the required gear ratios are a limiting factor.
  13. So you're not in favor of products that are totally designed and built entirely in the United States? There's absolutely no foreign designs or parts that aren't totally American.
  14. Yep, based on the same engine that Shelby used in the 427 Cobra.
  15. They used the gray interiors on the restrictor plate cars only. All other car were still the red, on Dales cars anyway.
  16. The body from the beltline down is shorter than it should have been for correct scale dimensions. Compare it to any of the Revell kits and you can see it clearly. I forg the reason why, maybe if Tim Boyd knows he'll let us know. The only AMT kit that was correct ironically is the Phantom Vicky street rod and that's a custom. It really shows up if you try to use the Revell interior parts in one of the AMT early bodies. But the Phantom Vicky interior, (or the Dan Fink Speedwagon) interior will fit in the Revell two door sedan body for a nice looking street rod interior.
  17. Yes, in real life anyway, In my youth I took the interior panels from a friends '57 150 that were scrapping and put them into my '56 Bel-Air sedan, perfect fit and really confused a few people that had never looked at a '57 150 interior.
  18. That is if they even have any.
  19. 13" tires are easy to find. Almost all of the lowrider tires from Pegasus, and ALL of the Revell low rider tires are 13", just remove or hide the whitewalls and put them on appropriate wheels.
  20. Earl used his own formulas for his paints that was based on a fish oil. Your car would be extremely popular with the neighborhood cats for about a week after you got it painted and if you parked it in a closed up garage you would have to roll your windows down for a month regardless of the weather. I had an aunt and uncle who had there '58 Chevy Del-Ray painted that Olive green metallic that was popular in the sixties and during the summer of '65 I spent the summer with them (they lived in Los Banos CA.) and my cousin (who had just got his license) and I took it out along the California Aquaduct that was under construction and when we came home decided to wash it to avoid a big lecture. Little did we know that with the Scheib base job they just washed the car with an abrasive cleanser like Comet, it cost extra to actually sand the car, and when you used the two bit car wash imagine our surprise when the pressure from their nozzle removed three foot long pieces of paint if you got to close when rinsing the soap off.
  21. that's ok, it's just a minor thing considering all of the AMT '32 kits are based on a body that has been sectioned around four inches. And I agree it's a super build. Especially like the aged light tan exhaust manifolds instead of the usual rust shade, or clean cast iron.
  22. I thought it looked more like the Kia grille.
  23. they can't find a real Vega to get proper measurements from. Every one they find disintegrates into a pile of rust when they try to move it. lol??
  24. Don't worry, there will still be shady types that will keep boosting the prices on the current releases and trying to sell them as rare collector versions since they are now officially discontinued. ???
