  1. I understand Harry, but you asked me why use it. I simply explained. I know your on a Mac. The Linux community is larger than you think and growing. 99% using windows is a little high. I used IBM OS2 from 1995 to 2000 and only had to give it up when IBM, as usual, quit supporting it.
  2. Simple Harry. If you read through the weki, you would learn that it is faster, easier to use and supported by many companies like Oracle and free. Linux doesn't know what an executable file is, so no hijacks, worms virus's etc. I had my computer hijacked 3 times a year and a half ago by Eastern Euro's and there phony virus software. I got it once from downloading a video of Jay Leno's Model T. Once you use Linux, you won't go back to windoz. If I need to run a windoz program in Linux, Oracle makes a free virtual windows add on program that runs inside Linux to do that. I find that there are very few equivalent programs that aren't available in Linux. It runs on a regular pc. If you really want to know why I use it, ask yourself why you use a Mac. Because it's better. So now you know Harry. There is another operating system for a pc. It installs as easy or easier than window and in my opinion, is much better. Go here and learn what it is and see why I use it. http://www.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/why-use-ubuntu. You can't learn why until you know what it is.
  3. No, DOS is not coming back. Harry, many people are unaware of Linux. A simple read through at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linux will help to educate anyone on what it is. You might be interested to learn that the Android system used on smart phones and tablet computers is Linux based. If you open and read the wikipedia page, you will learn how widely used Linux is in all sectors and countries. I believe there are 58 versions of Linux at the present. I use one called ubuntu.
  4. I have pondered posting this trick for quite some time, but finally decided to come forth. First off. I don't use windows or Mac as an operating system. I have created within my system,a folder for tips and tricks. In this folder, I copy both texed and pictorial information from this and other website to create my own file for reference. It eliminates the need to search for info on subject when needed.
  5. Welcome back James. The last kit I built before I came back was a 1960 Edsel . I started seriously building again in April of 2009, although I started collecting data, kit and info from 2000 until then. A lot has transpired sense then as there has since your departure 30 tears ago.. Research, learn. Its an all new ballgame.
  6. Did you mean could care less? I can respect that. You have your likes and I have mine. We both, I believe respect that. I can live with that.
  7. Building? OMG, Imagine that . The thought. We are model builders? I thought our purpose was to come on this forum and spend numerous hours reading postings and contributing to, in some cases, senseless tripe.
  8. It may be more the file type than the printer. A vector file will be much clearer than a raster file.
  9. Let your finger do the walking. I know that this subject has come up at least a couple of times in the last few months

  14. I have one suggestion for you. Go to the general section on this forum, open the topic on the Donn Yost video, then buy it. Apply what you see. You won't be sorry. That's the best advice I can give you.

  16. I have the AMT Matchbox 68 but, it may be hard to find one now.
  17. I have the Testers Model Master 1970 HT with red line tires and real steel wheels which I picked up on ebay about 10 years ago. Every once in a while one comes up on there.
  18. The one I'm waiting for is the 50 Olds, but I don't see any info on it anywhere yet.

  22. How hard is it to cast resin? It depends on you. It is an education process. No one can tell you to buy a certain product and that's the answer. You need to do some research and go to the sites of resin suppliers such as Alumilite and Smooth On and read their tutorials and than buy a product and experiment and continue to learn. I, like a majority per a post on this website a year or so ago who do casting for a profit,, use Smooth on products.
  23. Guys drive that far for meetings Mike. I'm 45-50 minutes from Orlando and Daytona, but if I want to go there, I go.
