  1. All of these except the black Mercedes were sprayed with Liquitex Professional in the tube for $8 and change. Use a 40% coupon and it's in the $5 range for 2oz. of paste. The Merceddes was sprayed with Apple Barrel gloss black that cost $1.19. Only the 40 panel & 65 Dodge have Future on them. The rest are just paint. All paints were bought at Michaels. There are 2 posts.
  2. The closest HL to me is 25 miles ,but there is a Michaels 3 1/2 miles north and another 6 miles south. They also have a good selection of acrylics plus some Testers at better prices than posters here are reporting.
  3. I paint mostly with acrylics and finish with Future. As stated before, make sure that the paint is completely cured. Just because you can handle it doesn't mean it's cured. I put mine in a dehydrator over night to cure it and then let it set for a day before I sand. If you wet sand and do it too soon, the water can wash away the paint. When you do sand, use 4000 grit or higher to remove any imperfections. Be sure to put it in a sealed container after applying Future or it will attract all kind of dust, etc.
  4. I too noticed the absence of an antenna. Also, to me, the wiper blades appear to be lacking. The side view mirror appears to be heavy and not the slim shape of a real one. And lastly, the headrest on the drivers seat seemed too rigid as if it were made of plastic. This is why I voted model.
  5. Jason, I think i'm within 15-20 miles of you.
  6. I have a 1958 Imperial promo with a metal bottom. On the bottom is stamped SMP Mt Clemens Mich. The box is identical to the AMT boxes of that era except SMP is written were AMT would have been. Mt. Clemens is a ways east of Troy.
  7. Why would you put a 5L in the SC when the 3.8-liter supercharged version was faster?
  8. "Initially, the engine choices were modest, with only the 3.8-liter Essex V6 available for the first three years, along with a 3.8-liter supercharged version available only in the Super Coupe model (more on that later). The base V6 was rather lacking in power output, with only 140 horsepower available. Acceleration times were leisurely, and it was only available with Ford's AOD four-speed automatic. If you didn't want the Super Coupe variant but did want a little more power, you were out of luck until the 1991 model year, when Ford shoehorned the Windsor 5.0 V8. This engine produced 200 horsepower and 275 lb-ft of torque, which was a gain of 35 horsepower over the last Thunderbird equipped with a V8 (1988). The television program Motorweek tested the new V8 T-Bird and saw 0-60 runs of 9.2 seconds--almost two seconds faster than the V6, but still not as fast as the Super Coupe version. Once again, the only transmission available was the Ford AOD Automatic." Read the whole article here:http://www.automotiv...ings&Itemid=336
  9. I think it's a model for a couple of reasons.
  10. I paint mostly acrylic and what I've found to be the best cleaner and stripper whether the paint is wet or dry is 91% isopropyl alcohol. You can buy it at most pharmacies including Walmart.
  11. Very nicely done. Nice color and detail and nicely built. I like it.
  12. I would add a 49 Buick Roadmaster and make the 53 Buick a Skylark.
  13. That's your opinion and your entitled to it, but this is why it is difficult for model companies to choose a subject.
  14. O.K. So here you go. Everyone seems to want certain cars put out in plastic by the model companies. Here is mine. The A bodied cars produced by G.M. in the mid 1930's. The Cadillac 1936 coupe: http://images108.fot...ANSCOUP5-vi.jpg the 1936 LaSalle coupe: http://images44.fotk...cLasalle-vi.jpg the 1936 Buick coupe: http://images15.fotk...RACOUPE6-vi.jpg the 1936 Olds coupe: http://images51.fotk...tscoupe8-vi.jpg the 1936 Pontiac coupe: http://images57.fotk...eClassic-vi.jpg the 1936 Chevy Master Deluxe coupe: http://images54.fotk...Coupef3q-vi.jpg Making the convertible coupe is just a matter of removing the top. Multiple opportunities for variations and can appeal to the stock, drag, custom and rat rod builder. And Christian, many of these are available in die cast by various companies including Brookline. I just don't feel like spending a $100.00 dollars plus for a 1/43 die cast that isn't that accurate.
  15. Here's one of those non-existent black interiors in a 62 Bonneville on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/...c#ht_500wt_1172. I also found a Bonnie hardtop with black interior, but I can't locate it now. Pontiac used leather in the more expensive models.
  16. Velvet black is listed as an interior color for 1962 on this website at the bottom of the page: http://www.oldride.c...c_catalina.html so it was available.
  17. Very nicely done mrmike. Just the way I like to see them.
  18. I totally agree with Bob on this one. Fortunately, I bought the Monogram issue when I was purchasing my inventory.
  19. This is probably the only Michigan State park I haven't been to. Back in the late seventy's it would have been dune buggies on the dunes and I didn't have one.
  20. wikipedia says that El Caminos had trim and drive train options corresponding with the car line. Also says that the interior colors for 1960 were again blue, gray and green. http://en.wikipedia....E2.80.931960.29
