2015 Ford Mustang Snap Kit as a giveaway at NAIAS
jjsipes replied to carsntrucks4you's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
So its a cheapened unassembled promo. At least they are trying to get kids involved in our hobby. -
Wow has it really been since July 2012 that I was able to get anything accomplishedo n this model. Man time flies when you are trying to raise 2 small children, eats up alot of modeling time. Anyway, almost finished my 1955 Chrysler Lee Petty Stock Car. Here a few pics as it stands right now. Interior Exterior Not perfect by a long shot but I am just happy that I am able to get a model this far along. Color is close but graphics should be black but, decals are from "Decals by Lucas" and they were printed in blue.

jjsipes replied to MrObsessive's topic in WIP: Model Cars
I've been reading a book that my wife got me for Christmas and got me to thinking about digging my model out again to get going back on it. It also got me to thinking about your build here. I enjoyed reading through you WIP and have been using some of your tips/ideas on my put I need to dig it out to see where I left off with it. Again Bill, awesome build of a so what hard kit to assemble out of the box. Just wanted to bring this back to the fore front for thise that missed out on it originally. The book is this one. http://www.amazon.com/Chryslers-Turbine-Car-Detroits-Creation/dp/1613743459/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1388525180&sr=8-1&keywords=chrysler+turbine -

What's the deal with Johan
jjsipes replied to Kaleb's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I prefer the Johan bodies over just about anything today. They just looked correct and they look great over modern day chassis'. -
Thanks guys. I will be slow with work and tryin to raise 2 kids under 3 yrs. But I will keep plugging away at it.

Got decals from SlotCar Fever and wasn't totally happy with them. Could just be from not dealing with them prior, I don;t know for sure but I went and tried to make some of my own. I placed them the numbers on the car and the red bled thru badly so I hand painted over the decal to have a guide, not totally happy with results. I used some Fred Cady decals for the front fenders and some of the sponsors. I have painted the red in the middle of Smokey's on the front fender as well. I have noticed in some of the pictures that the sponsors are in differnet location, the Champion moves from quarter to door in some pictures so I guess this car was run more than once instead of just in the 1956 Southern 500. Need to see if I can come up with what races it ran.

2015 Mustang link
jjsipes replied to 1930fordpickup's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Remember the Ford Probe, was to be the next gen Mustang at the time but Ford got alot of slack about it being front wheel drive so, i heard anyway. The Probe didn't do much for me then and still don't. -

Bring it on. Hope they release it this time. So many more cars that could be done with this kit, be it 64's or any early to mid 60's Mopars with the chassis' in these kits.

Nice looks great. Thanks for sharing

I started another model. It will be a replica of the car prepared by Smokey Yunick for Herb Thomas to run the 1956 Southern 500. I started with a Revell 1956 Chevy Del Ray that I got in a trade with Chuck Most, thanks Chuck. I modified the trim on the rear quarters from the Del Ray to a 150 trim model, to the best of my eye anyways. I have primed, painted, cleared and bare-metal foiled the trim. I have started to modifiy the interior by cutting out the rear seat and filling that in with sheet plastic, no pics of this at this time. Got chassis painting started. Next up will be decaling. Actual Car Model

I will be watching this. Love these cars. So many possible color choices with these from the factory that just look right. Great colors by the way.

Boyd's I know alot of Boyd's cars was designed by Foose but I was referring to Boyd's later cars after Foose left.
-
Some Foose cars are ok but for the most part I can pass on them. Now, Boyd's cars look nice but I know some people didn't care much for him either. I always liked the 56 Chevy "Junkyard Dog" that they did and the 63 Max Wedge Dodge. They were some nice cars.

I just dug out my Dirty Donny Superbee and wow. If Round2 would have went back and cleaned up the mold for the body, that would have been nice. I could shave myself with some of the moldlines on the quarters of the body/ Don't get me wrong I love having these 60's and 70's Mopars and we need more of them.
