  1. Terrific build. The Hawks were great looking cars. As Bugatti Fan said, European in styling. Sadly, underneath it was still the '53. Studebaker had an admirable history.
  2. I mounted a Jetex motor to a Russkit brass F1 chassis. Spent hours going after the land speed record down the street I grew up on. At night the motor glowed red.
  3. You don't get into those cars. You wear them.
  4. 1965 Rules (and other years before purpose-built frames were allowed): Wheelbase: All Gas Coupes/Sedans, Supercharged Gas Coupes/Sedans must retain stock wheelbase length and tread width for the type of car body used. Minimum wheelbase length is 92 inches. All 1948 to 1953 English Fords, Anglia series, although not meeting minimum wheelbase requirements are accepted for competition in Gas Coupes/Sedans classes. Ruling applies only if entry meets all other class regulations and requirements. Engine installations are restricted to small-block Chevys or equivalents: i.e., 265, 283, 327, etc. Larger basic blocks not accepted. Superchargers not permitted. Wheelbase must remain stock.
  5. Had that kit (and the '34 iirc) back in the day. They were presents - I was a 1/25 kid - so I sorta dismissed them.
  6. I shot my mailbox with a .38 and now the mail gets wet when it rains.
  7. I'm retired. What is "a shave"?
  8. Other than the hood and wheels, what's going to make the resto-mod a resto-mod?
  9. Hot Rod. Car Craft. Popular Hot Rodding. Rod & Custom. Drag Racing Magazine. Super Stock & Drag. Sports Car Graphic. >sigh< Getting old sucks.
  10. Back in the '60s that would run in /MSP (Modified Sports). I forget when the NHRA merged the class in with the Gassers. Can't wait to see how it comes out.
  11. Did anybody release a kit of the 1993 Ford Probe GT? Thanks.
  12. Change the thread to "Roundy-Round Models".
  13. As clunky as it looks, it had to be safer than the F7U Cutlass, aka "The Widow Maker, aka "The Ensign Killer", and a few others that I can't remember.
  14. "... and doubtless a lot of old fossils (like me) who know what the kits are and would want the stuff have fallen off their perches in the intervening time." I like that one, Ace. I have a handful of Parts Packs that I picked up at Nassau hobby back in the mid-sixties. Paid a quarter each for 'em. The Fiat is in the pile. And no, they ain't for sale.
  15. As Ace said, before the Permian Extinction everything was loose in the box and the box was taped shut. Tire marks would happen after the kit sat forgotten in the back of the shelf for a few years.
  16. "However, since I'm retired now, I don't have that much 'daily driving' anymore!" Ain't that the truth!
  17. It was so long ago. I only remember one name from back then.
  18. Lousy S.O.B.
  19. So true. I remember in the early '80s somebody had a coupe mini-Mod.
  20. Great work. Takes me back to the days of Freeport and Islip.
