  1. Here goes the peace and quiet ..... Lol ! Paache H series kit from dixieart.com delivered to your door for $63.00 . Compressor .... Any nailer with a tank , Lowes , Home Depot , Sears , etc , $100 to $200 . Inline filters/ moisture trap , depends on what you want to spend ! I always preach " Tools First , Kits Second ! " . The aforementioned will serve you long and well for years to come with care and attention ! Donn Yost
  2. You can lay the decals down , but you can't clear over them with the polish on it . More often than not , your clear would fish eye as soon as it meets the polished surface .
  3. This is one is for the book , should I ever decide to write it ..... ! I received an email today from the president of the advertising department of a magazine . He informed me that he had received a phone call from an individual , asking him to please email me and instruct me to answer the email that said individual had sent me on Friday ! I worked on Friday and Saturday , and spent most of Sunday , snaking out the main sewer line for Kathie's house . Lone Wolf Custom Painting was about the last thing that I had on my mind this past weekend ! I received another email from the individual today stating that he would like my cell number so that he can call and discuss a build that he would like for me to do for him of his classic car ..... I just don't see this happening in this lifetime ! Do people realize that there are other aspects of life besides this ? Ya know ? , like , kids , grandkids , house and auto repair , significant others , a real job , etc ? I try to help out as much with this hobby as I can , but there are times when it becomes almost more to deal with than it's worth ! People actually get hostile if you don't answer an email within a time setting of their choosing . I have to admit it , I am good about returning emails , but ...... Sometimes real life gets in the way ! This person gets flaked out about two days of an unanswered email , what's he going to be like with a several month build projection ? Nope , uh uh , no way ! Ain't happenin' !
  4. The problem with plastic is when moved or brushed up against , an electrostatic charge is created . Any dirt or fiber is immediately pulled toward it , thus pulling the debris into the booth and onto the paint work. . Better off using Mar lite and building a permanent booth .
  5. Great ! There goes the neighborhood ! Lol !
  6. Mr Whalen , You never cease to amaze with your clean style ! Great start ! The Old Man
  7. You'd think that would be the case ..... Highly unlikely though ! Go back and watch the DVDs and count how many times that I stress the word " Patience ! " Lmao ! Patience , son , patience !
  8. You are more than welcome , Sir ! Thank you !
  9. Wet the floor down if it is concrete ! Starting up the fan early ? I wouldn't . Every step you take in and around the area is going to get dust and particles into the air and the fan is going to pull them into the booth before you paint . Tack rag ...... Nope ! Wash off the body , have your paint mixed and ready to go , dry the body with compressed air , put it on your stand and immediately begin to lay the paint down ! Tack rags hold debris and release it at inopportune moments . If you have carpet under the spray booth , lay a sheet of plywood down on it . The fibers trap dust and debris that is going to dance with your paint work , and the fibers themselves might visit ! Controlling your paint environment is the most important factor for achieving stellar paint jobs !
  10. To coin the old adage and adding a twist .... I need to learn to lead the horse to water and get him to drink .... If I do , this thread wouldn't exist .
  11. First rate , each and every single time !
  12. Now that .... That provided a very welcome smile for the day ! Thank you !
  13. Ha ! Who missed last year cuz the boss said you had to go camping ? Hmmmmmm ? Lol !
  14. Adam , You can also achieve stellar results using Pearl X powders over top of different base coat colors . Simply add the pearl to your clear and mist it on until you are satisfied with the color quality and depth .
  15. Ed , Saw that you sent me a pm , I missed it ! Love the new building , that took some time and effort to build and you nailed it ! Hope to see you soon , maybe in February !
  16. This is like saying that the sun is a little warm 5 miles away from it's surface ! Lmao !
  17. Each head has a corresponding needle ! As for the clogging ? Seems that your paint is way too thick ! You'll have to experiment with thinning it until you get it to flow out consistently .
  18. Let me guess ... Front fenders won't meet the splash plan ?
  19. Shhhhh ! What's wrong with you , Flatfoot ? You trying to ruin my nasty reputation ? Lol ! I told you I have your back , as do many , many others ! Now you get to watch my handsome , yet modest face , for 5 1/2 hours , lucky you ! Lmao ! I know what it's like to deal with health issues , it's no fun at all ! That being said , it's all about an attitude , and your's is a good one , keep it that way ! Taunt it , laugh at it , kick it in the stones , each and every moment , and you'll come through with flying colors . You need me , call ! Now if I could only figure out what to do for the Snap On Guy while you're laid up ...... Poor guy is going to need therapy not selling thousands of dollars worth of tools to your lame behind each week ..... Lmao ! All the love and luck to you , Brother Man !
  20. Walmart , in their candle section ! They carry a variety of different sized mirrors with beveled edges .
  21. Sorry , can't say . The water slides for tires just don't wind my watch . Prefer the dry transfers !
  22. Monty , I sanded mine , please be aware that these tires will not accept dry transfers , whatsoever !
  23. Hi , Gang ! Thanks so much for the compliments , I really appreciate it ! Revell's kit , painted with a custom mix of Testors enamels with a Pearl X laden clear overlay . Used the small block from the AMT ' 66 Nova , stole the tires from the '48 Ford and the hubcaps from the '49 Merc . Machined aluminum rear pumpkin cover courtesy of Mr Bob Dudek . Stainless steel tubing from MAS , wire and fittings from Detail Master , and the air cleaners are a Parts By Park item . I also lowered it a bit , frame wise . Great kit , went together like a dream until the final assembly , front fenders would simply not meet the splash pan . I sanded the dash and the top of the fire wall which lowered it enough so I could drill through the splash pan and into the bottom of the fender . I then cut a straight pin down to the proper length , applied super glue and slid it up through the pan into the fender , pinning the two together . I found out a bit later that others had struggled with the same problem , so this is just a heads up for those who plan on building the kit ! The Old Man
