  1. You should ! I've noticed more than a few of your bodies being used on the drag cars in the slot world !
  2. Been putzing with prep work on another Revell Corvette Gasser off and on today . Tomorrow , I hope to finish a Willy's body for a customer and start finish prep on some others that I need to get going on ... Never a dull moment ! Lol !
  3. Try washing the body off with blue Dawn dish detergent and warm water , rinse thoroughly , blow dry the body off with compressed air , set it on the stand and immediately begin painting the body . Have your paint mixed and ready to go , beforehand . Controlling your paint environment is the single , most important factor for laying down a clean finish , each and every time !
  4. Check with Joe Cardoza , he is a member here ! He just sent me a text with pictures of some beauties that he now offers ! Reasonably priced too !
  5. Hey Gang ! Thank you for the comments , I greatly appreciate them . This is the Revell kit , shot with Testors British Racing Green metallic , no clear , just a light polishing to bring up the shine . Decals are a combination of those from the kit and various Slixx sponsors . The interior is done up in a two tone green which compliments the exterior quite well . As a build , the kit is a dream when it comes to putting it all together . Prep work , on the otherhand , was a long tedious process ! Every single part had to be sanded due to light mold lines and pin marks . As bad as the prep work was ? The chrome was a nightmare ! I ended up stripping all of it and reshooting it with Alclad . I lightly weathered the frame and motor with pastel chalks to give it a used look . I built this to compete in the Competiton Box Stock category at the shows . As I stated , the kit practically builds itself and is a beautiful car when completed . With that said , I feel that a new release such as this should not require the extensive prep work or chrome issues that exist . This is my second buildup of this particular kit , next on the block will be a street gasser version .
  6. Craig , If he can afford that ? He can afford to pronounce the word any way he sees fit ! Lol !
  7. There is something seriously wrong with you , Boyo ! Lmao ! Thou art a sick and twisted child !
  8. I appreciate it ! Far better than what the exes used to call me ..... Lmao ! As to what Rob stated ..... With my crew of smart ------ , if you pronounced it properly , they'd ask what the ------- does Gary Coleman have to do with drag racing ?
  9. Lmao ! Ok. , Skip , I stand corrected ! Harry did state it best . From the time I understood the spoken word , within my family , the word was pronounced " Willys " . Who was I to question WW2 vets about the Jeeps that they drove during and after the war and how the manufacturer's name was pronounced ? As for knowing the " subject matter " , the DVD was on airbrushing and I think that I covered that subject quite thoroughly and to a high degree !
  10. The easiest method that I've found .... I shoot the entire grill with semi gloss black . Once it flashes , I take a medium tipped silver Sharpie and lightly trace the the entirety of the raised portions of the grill .
  11. AMT ' 66 Riv if I remember correctly .
  12. I would say the Dart due to it being more detailed oriented .
  13. Rob , As Art indicated , it's a basic 3 piece , body , tub , chassis . However , combined with the Revell Dart Chassis , now it becomes something to be reckoned with . It's a nice kit to begin with and becomes so much more with a bit of kit bashing .
  14. Beautiful detail work and execution , Brother D !
  15. Did you shake the can ? That wasn't in your step by step description ...... ?

Break down and buy the cheaters and head visor , ya cheap skate ! Lmao ! Pretty build , D ! I really like this one .
  17. I do believe you have all that you need from me ! As for permission , that goes without saying .... Lmao ! It's all yours !
  18. Aww , let's face it ! Be it average or percentage , we're all a bunch of plastic junkies to varying degrees . Factor in how often we think about the hobby or build and ponder inside our heads about building , average or percentage wise , the numbers go into the stratosphere ! Like I stated in my original post , the percentages for me are always going to be twisted up because I am constantly futzing with something , modelwise . If I sand out four sets of tires in a day , I have completed another phase towards several builds . Be it ever so obvious , the stash is constantly changing and ever growing . Revell is killing me with these new releases , Lmao ! Of coarse , it'll take a hammer and a chisel to get the smile off my face for the viewing ........ That just breaks my little heart !
  19. Exactly ! And I do stick with all of the aforementioned reasons , religiously ! Now , based on percentages , how many if us talk to ourselves while building ? Hmmmmmm ? Oh yeah ! That would be me ! At times , Kathie will open the shop door and holler , " Hey Sybil , Everone ok in there ? " Yes , the voices do answer her , several of them all at once ! She laughs , tells me that all of the bulbs in my chandelier aren't lit and departs for saner areas !
  20. The percentages no longer affect me as they once did . Last year , I completed 14 builds , this year , 2 ! That being said , I completed over 30 bodies for the business this year and that number continues to climb . As long as I have something to set on the show tables each year , I am happy ! I have prepped bodies and kits ready for paint , painted bodies that are ready for detail and foil , entire kits ready to be built , builds in various stages of completion , the list just goes on . Every day is something different , depending on what I feel like doing at that particular time . Be it painting , foiling , prepping , decaling , building , I thoroughly enjoy every aspect of this hobby . I do work on an aspect of the hobby every single day . As others have stated , I have quite a few kits , how many , I have no idea . Quite a few are designated as parts kits and their parts have been removed from the trees and stored together in 2 gallon freezer bags . Will I ever build all of them ? Who knows , who cares ! I just intend on giving the concept a run for it's money , the end result is a moot point . As long as I'm having fun with it , that's all that concerns me . Now , if I could ever complete all of the builds that are stored in my pointed little head ...... Weeeeeell , that might take a couple hundred years ..... Lmao !
  21. The 1/4 ounce bottled paint tends to be a bit thicker than the 1/2 ounce and requires a bit more thinner when airbrushed .
  22. Personal preference indeed ! A siphon fed airbrush is just as neat and clean as any other , depend on the individual's work habits to makes the difference . As for the comment on the compressors ? I'm still using the same nailer that I purchased from Sears many years ago . The only way that oil gets into the airline is from a major breakdown of the compressor itself . This scenario can also be avoided , regardless of the compressor type , by installing inline filters . Thousands of paint jobs completed and nary a single fisheye ! A Paache H series kit is a great starting point for a novice airbrush user . User friendly , it has a very easy learning curve and produces stellar results . Any of the aforementioned dual action airbrushes are also excellent , they do however , have a tougher learning curve and require more maintenance and care .
  23. Clint , Very easy to use , a small amount mixed into your clear can produce stunning results !
  24. Being that you are going the custom route ... Check out Jaquards line of Pearl X pearl powders , you can come up with some wild color combinations . By changing up your base colors or shooting over metallics an pearls , you can create subtle color changes that occur when moving the eye a few inches to the left or right of the model .
