ZTony8 replied to Vietnam Vet67's topic in Contests and Shows
Eight days and counting to the biggest toy show in the Midwest! 324 tables, the Motor City NNL, slot car drags, and some real cars. Still $5 admission and no extra charge to enter models in the NNL. Don't miss it! -

Table count is 324. Come see a good sized show now that Toledo/Sylvania is a shadow of it's former self. -

I bought my kit in Sylvania last Saturday. I was looking at it tonight and I noticed some confusion on the instruction sheet. In the painting suggestions it says to spray the chassis pan in red oxide and body color overspray. But the photo shows the chassis pan in flat black without overspray. OOPS! Almost in the same category as the '65 Plymouth Belvidere kits with the Hudson interior paint references. -

Our show is looking like it's going to be bigger than ever- now over 300 tables! And don't ever be concerned about not having any fresh builds. Just bring your favorites or bring your projects for the primer table. -

That's what we're hoping will happen, Tim. Our club has some decisions to make and some questions need to be answered to be able to effectively take up the legacy of the NNL Nationals. -

We're expecting the show to be a complete vendor sell out so expect about 280 tables plus the Motor City NNL and the slot car drags and some real cars on display, too. We're now a LOT bigger than Sylvania and the show is a lot like the bigger room was at Toledo years ago. You owe it to yourself to attend because once you see it you'll want to keep coming back. -
This seems appropriate

I've never been a military or aircraft or boat builder (just never interested) but I did pick up a Tamiya Gama Goat recently. When I do get around to building it it's going to be a beach buggy towing a tram-like trailer. -
What are your Bucket List Kits?
ZTony8 replied to Oldcarfan27's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Last April I found one of my grails, the Tamiya FW 24. It was the only 1/20th Tamiya F-1 car that I didn't have in my stash. My next choices would probably be a complete AMT '62 Buick Special station wagon kit and an MPC '67 STP turbine car. I ruined the Special as a kid and I recently obtained a built up one. The turbine car I've never had and always thought it was a cool car. -
Model Car Kit Collection

I see the problem. Your shelf space is filled . You need to buy another shelving unit and fill it up. -
No up top, and in case you don't know, that's the Lindberg 1/20th scale kit. I'm going to use many of the parts from mine to make a resto-mod AMX.

Now I know where they went!

Only the die cast Corvettes rust. Anyone else see the irony in that the real cars are plastic and the toys are metal? -
That black box art model is NOT an ESV. The quarter panel behind the door would be much longer if it was one of those.
-
I bought a Hasegawa 962C kit- the1991 LeMans Nisseki Trust version and some Mr. Color Madder red. Happy to see that Model Cave is now carrying that paint line. Thanks, John & Melissa (and Beni, too).

Round 2 could reissue the 80s/ 90s kits like they did the majority of the older ones-by using fictitious major sponsors and drivers. I think they realize that those kits flooded the market back when they were new. So no one would buy new issues now when the old ones are available so cheap.
-
To be more specific- Round 2 hasn't reissued the late 80s-early 90s NASCAR kits. If those were any bigger dogs on the market they would shed.
-
Two things: It will be darn inconvenient to refuel at a gas station with that centrally placed fuel cap-bring lots of towels to keep the fuel hose from marring the paint. WAIT!- Maybe for your $1.8 million they give you a load of those micro fiber towels( they aren't good for drying anything anyway). And why is the marking for the wiper/ washer on the side of the switch where it can't normally be viewed from the driver's seat? Everything might be important but that doesn't mean that everything came out well. But, hey, what can you expect for only $1.8 million? Perfection?

Any interest in NeoClassics?

I said years ago that someone missed the boat by not offering an Airflow conversion for the VW Beetle. To me it was a natural. -
I wish both Atlantis & Salvino good luck but unless I've been asleep and things have changed, the market for those old stockers dried up several years ago. Check out any toy show and you'll see those kits at $5 to $10 and most of them go home with the vendors. You'll notice that Round 2 isn't cranking up their old NASCAR tools for re-release.
-
I see this as another company only cranking out reissues ala Round 2 with no money or urge to develop new models. But I hope I'm wrong.
-
Now I can build a fresh "Mr. Speed".

I prefer the '41 convertible. -
This is a tough question as the answer can depend on many things. If a build turns out well it's a favorite of mine regardless of subject. I admit to being spoiled by Tamiya kits. They go together so well after all the painting is done( which is about 90% of building a Tamiya kit).
