  1. The Tamiya Toyota TS050 is out. I now have one.
  2. I'd be wary of dropping too much speed from the cars. I was at an ARCA race at Michigan Speedway back in the Nineties and those cars were lapping at about 165 m.p.h. They looked so slow it looked like they were dragging an anchor behind them.
  3. I think that's one of the easier liveries. There's that blue one with the music industry theme that looks much worse to do.
  4. I grabbed a can of the One Coat (non One Coat) bronze and I noticed it was starting to seep out of the upper seam! I sprayed it out anyway and after a few moments the paint started spraying out with more pressure and went on fine.
  5. nThe engine in the AMT kit is an absolute horror. Turbocharger on one side of the engine, exhaust manifold on the other side and they're not connected! Better as a curbside or a parts donor kit.
  6. That's great news. Now we can wonder about the altered wheelbase Mopars.
  7. Ever notice that the test bodies come out great (usually better than the project you want to look great)?
  8. Unless there's a change, the Novas are dead. The GM/ Moebius licensing expired and hasn't been renegotiated by the new owners.
  9. Thanks to all the attendees, vendors, and Motor City Madness contestants for making our show a success. Without them we wouldn't have anything. We had record attendance (1506) and the number of entries in the contest was up( to 363) and they were of a VERY high quality. The vendors with whom our members spoke all said that they were having a great show and want to return either for our Fall show or next Spring .See you on November 10th, 2019 for our next toy show and the Motor City NNL.
  10. Sunday! Sunday! The D.A.A.M. show is this Sunday, March 31st! 322 vendor tables and the Motor City Madness contest! Slot car drag racing! Some real cars on display! $5 admission and NO extra charge to enter models in the contest. Come see why our show has been hailed as "Best in the Midwest" .
  11. Maybe they'll do a Chapron body convertible version in 1/24th scale ( I hope, I hope).
  12. What gave the guy the idea that the electric style hoist is hydraulic? They should have included the Willys coupe body in the kit like they did years ago and re -engineered the kit so the tilt nose would line up with the body without major work.
  13. I have a few cans of Testor paint that have leaked. Odd that propellant should harden. I always thought it might be the binder in the paint. Live and learn.
  14. And possibly a 1/25th scale wood model of the complete garbage truck (!) will make it to the show, too.
  15. I've seen a Revell- Germany snap kit of this car and it's $41 (!). I trust that this isn't the same kit.
  16. Pantera meets current Ford GT.
  17. It looks like it was strongly influenced by the Olds Aerotech.
  18. I was in the model contest booth at the Detroit Autorama and was approached by a guy who asked if I knew anyone who bought model kits (who, me? ). I asked him what he had. "A couple of '64 Plymouths that I bought may years ago, a Sox & Martin 'Cuda and a '70 GTX". The GTX turned out to be a Monogram kit but the other 3 are Jo-Hans. The ' Cuda is later issue( it's molded in orange) but the '64s are flat box originals. They're not mint but they're unbuilt- and now they're mine.
  19. My first response would be Tamiya for their parts fit quality but I've become soured by what's left out of some of their engine compartments. But I see Fujimi, Aoshima, and Beemax as being co-equals in quality.
  20. This past Saturday I went to a local IPMS show and picked up 4 kits- a Heller Porsche 917( the Martini livery, same as the Testor re-box,), a Monogram Lola Indy car, the Revell re-box of the Accurate Miniatures Corvette Grand Sport, and an Entex Ferrari 312T3 (which, on the box says 1/25th scale and on the decal sheet says 1/28th scale!) along with some decals. If you haven't ever gone to an IPMS show, try it. Sometimes you can find some real deals as the vendors don't always know what they have.
  21. There has been a vendor who, for past shows, had wanted his tables on the back wall in the contest area. Now he wants his area moved so we are going to expand the contest area and use his former space as more contest table area ( right now we're thinking that's where the dioramas will be displayed but that may change) . As a late announced bonus we are scheduled to have a former AMT wood pattern department employee bring some of his items that he saved from his days there.
  22. The Fall show ( Motor City NNL #15) is November 10, 2019. Main theme : To the 9s-models of vehicles built in years ending in "9". Sub theme; "Kings of the road"- Big rigs and other heavy duty on road trucks. Cult theme- 50 years of IMSA.
  23. Have you tried shaking the bottle? If not, try that first. If so, then, yes, it will thin with water.
