This is very much like my friends and my dad's friends have said about us, "remember you can ignore (Roy or Charlie), but you do so at your own peril." Charlie Larkin

For those wondering: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Durian I'll pass on this, too. Charlie Larkin -
Food Odours ... of the UNpleseant Kind

A very good friend of mine married a nice Norwegian girl from someplace around St. Paul. She WILL NOT eat Ludefisk under any circumstances. I'll be honest, lye-cured anything has little appeal to me. As for my own food dislikes, I'm not a huge fan of squash. I also get a little weird around certain tastes/textures. I can't tell you what it is, but I'll know when I don't like it. Charlie Larkin -
Looking back to 2014 and looking forward to 2015

2014... The loss of a very good friend under what are suspicious circumstances in July was definitely the low point. The investigation is still ongoing, mostly due to a horrific backlog at the MSP Crime Lab. Three friends from high school lost parents this year, and I'm actually finishing getting ready to go to one of the wakes now. The good news is that will probably be the last one this year. Laid up for a lot of last winter with sciatica. No fun at all, and my leg still isn't working quite the way it should be. I've been trying to walk a bit to get things working right again and lose some of the weight I put on as a result. Mixed results, but it's what I can do for right now. My work opportunities have still been rather limited, and the driver's ed. job I accepted is not working well at all. That said, I do have a few promising things for 2015, so I'm hopeful next year will be an improvement. Charlie Larkin -
Very nice conversion of one of the more interesting show cars of the 1950s. Charlie Larkin

Looks like I'm in for one, too. I always thought these were neat cars. Any feel for how much this will be running? Charlie Larkin

Nice build. Try taking the picture outside- sometimes artificial lighting, especially the newer "high-efficiency" bulbs can distort colors terribly. Charlie Larkin

Nice job, Steve. I always thought the 1963-'64 Chryslers were an interesting design and you captured them well. Charlie Larkin

Very nice work, Al. Charlie Larkin

I like this, Al. Great color on it, and such a cool subject. One of our local yards had a '59 many, many years ago. Someone bought it and hopefully restored it. Charlie Larkin

Very nice, Harry. I like the colors. What kit is this, or is that a scratch-built body? Charlie Larkin

I'll probably grab one to build a Modelhaus 4-door hardtop. I saw these on the shelf last Friday at Hobby Emporium in Tyngsborough, Ma. while grabbing some train stuff. Charlie Larkin

I like the Stanley. All of them, though, are very nice. Charlie Larkin

Very nice, Al. Who makes the Taurus? I'm assuming it's your own paint/decal work? Charlie Larkin

2014 wasn't as productive as I had wanted, although I might still be able to get one more buttoned up before Midnight Wednesday. These are the two I completed this year. First, my Revell PT Cruiser. This build was chronicled on this forum. Second, not really chronicled except for a Facebook build-off, but I didn't quite make completion, and the weather didn't cooperate, so I couldn't even get into Classic Plastic (paint,) but this AMT '61 Ford. The interior was done to simulate aftermarket seat covers, as the upholstery, and really, the whole interior, is all wrong. I'm trying to find my Model Cars issue from about 1998 that had the article about how to correct the '61 interior tub so I can do it for my other car. If anyone has a copy of that and would be willing to make a copy of that and mail it to me, I'd be appreciative. The color has received a lot of favorable review. This is Testors Model Master Fifties Aqua, which is very close in color to the factory Mint Green. Enjoy. Charlie Larkin

Is that starch plastic (PLA) or conventional petroleum plastic? Very nice, Doug. Charlie Larkin -

Their Boston office is hosting one in July. I just may go for that. Thanks, Greg. Charlie Larkin -
So you are stuck on a desert island...

Never heard of her until this. Looked her up. Not bad, but I'd take Scarlett over her. For plastic, I like Mike's idea- a container of Evergreen and Plastruct. Between that and assuming a tree or two, I could at least take a shot at making a raft. Charlie Larkin -
Base model parts for Revell 67 Camaro?

So, with an RS grille, that molding on the lower body would become accurate- is that what I remember reading? Charlie Larkin -

That's too bad. I'm playing with a Sono-Ram 383 now. Does anyone know if someone will pick up production? Charlie Larkin -
New kits with flaws.
charlie8575 replied to Dave Metzner's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Exactly. Moebius, generally does do a pretty good job at getting it right. For the domestic-based manufacturers, they're the ones to beat. Charlie Larkin -

What is a "girls " car ?
charlie8575 replied to cobraman's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
The Texan was a Texas-only package from what I remember reading, and the Texas Women's Historical Society or some such biddy brigade killed it, citing a law that forbade the Texas flag and other references from being used for commercial purposes. Charlie Larkin
