  1. Looks really good. I have F Light Green with a tan interior planned for mine. Nice job on the roof-rack, too. And yes, the C wagons, at least Dodges and Plymouths, used what was basically Masonite for the head-liners. I think it was to accommodate cars ordered with the dual a/c set-up. Charlie Larkin
  2. The Magnums do look nice on that. I like the color, too. Another beauty on the way. Charlie Larkin
  3. Unfortunately, with Adam being in Canada, MCW is off the table unless he has a friend stateside and can get it out by driving it up. Also, a color that late is when Dave starts having trouble getting correct lacquer formulae. This is the brochure for 1983 with the trim options for the X-11. http://www.oldcarbrochures.com/static/NA/Chevrolet/1983_Chevrolet/1983_Chevrolet_Citation_Brochure/1983%20Chevrolet%20Citation-10.html Charlie Larkin
  4. Hmmm...neve saw the show, and I'd buy one of just about all of those, the Monte if it's possible to build stock, too. Well....what model Caddy? Charlie Larkin
  5. Second that. That's the type of beauty that lasts. Charlie Larkin
  6. If only it were that easy.... Charlie Larkin
  7. Personally, I'd like the Custom because I can build some police cars, but the Custom 300 is a nice-looking car. I think what would be the solution (and I'm a little disappointed they didn't do it here) would be to mold the trim as separate parts with blind knock-outs. Either way, I'm really looking forward to this one. We need more wagons and this will fit the bill very nicely. Charlie Larkin
  8. The upper color is correct for what you're looking for. It's far more green than gray, but it does have a definite gray tinge. It's actually a nice color, I remember it as being pretty common around here, especially in that two-tone. Scale Finishes can probably make you up a batch and send it to Scott at Elm City to get it into Canada for you. Alternately, you might be able to get a local body shop supplier to make a can of custom-match spray paint for you. Charlie Larkin
  9. Very nice, Tom. I'll look forward to seeing that in April. Charlie Larkin
  10. Nice score, Tom. I remember you telling me about that at L.I.A.R.S. That car should last you a good long time. Charlie Larkin
  11. Undoubtedly the best Christmas present you could've asked for. Best wishes to all of you. Charlie Larkin
  12. I wonder why the copyrights are put in such horrible for the modeler positions? If I were doing the design, I'd be placing them so they'd be invisible when built. It seems to be the best solution. Charlie Larkin
  13. Love the custom artwork. That Ka is a weird little critter, can't help but wonder how long it'll be before they bring that thing here? I also teach driver's ed. Remember the words of Ben Franklin- with liberty comes great responsibility. Just for giggles I priced out the insurance- 8000 pounds= $12,574.60 US! Good God, that's what, double the maximum value of the car, at least here?! Wow. Insurance is a scam everywhere. On the bright side- you have a very lovely travel companion. Keep her safe, man. Charlie Larkin
  14. Yeah, what he said. I'd add in a digitally-reproduced engine start/idle sound chip, with the model mounted on a base with a correct-appearing simulated ignition key and switch. Paul Hettick is a very good builder, no question, but that kind of money is a little silly. Charlie Larkin
  15. At Classic Plastic, Art brought the Ventura samples. Aside from the kick-up, the body looked very well-proportioned to me. The wheels were decent, I wasn't quite sure about the spacing, but once assembled, I think they'll look good. Overall, from what I saw, I was quite impressed and I'm looking froward to this one. I also grabbed a Parts-Pack 421 to cast the Hydra-Matic off of so I can build my car as an automatic. Charlie Larkin
  16. That Dave is listening and wants this right as bad as we do is definitely credit to Team Moebius. Charlie Larkin
  17. Not bad so far, and where an SS could be ordered with the RS package, why not fix the grille that way? What size Evergreen did you use for the bars? Charlie Larkin
  18. Reminds me, we need to put the thermostat back on the wall after painting, and get some oil. Might be a good idea to get the a/c out of the window, too. What a dank, dreary day it's been. Charlie Larkin
  19. A full race safety cage might not hurt, either. Charlie Larkin
  20. I think a lot of the blame does indeed lie with bad parents, or parents who aren't "bad," but certainly don't understand limits. When I was in high school in the early '90s, most of my friends had cars that were at least 8-10 years old, maybe had a little help from their parents for a down payment, but with a couple of exceptions, it was all their deal- maintenance, excise tax, registration, gas, insurance was usually split up because of the expense involved. At MHS, the big fashion statement was Champion sweatshirts. Not real spendy, but more money than Hanes or Russell, to be sure, but not wholly unreasonable, and those were usually worn with turtlenecks and a pair of dungarees. I was the odd-ball (no surprise, there, I know)- I wore button-down shirt and dress pants. I wanted to be taken seriously, so I looked the part. That said, I think the other major problem is schools have become so focused on testing, "standards," "outcome-based learning," and all kinds of other foolish nonsense (remember, folks, I AM a teacher by one of my professions,) that we've forgotten to teach common sense and basic life skills, such as budgeting, saving, and how to make intelligent life choices beyond even money, like college, career, where to live, and on and on. Society has failed our youth in so many respects, it's not funny. Now, the youth fail us not for vicious intent (usually,) but because they know no better. Charlie Larkin
  21. Very nice. I'll be picking one of these up. Charlie Larkin
  22. No injuries. A few close calls, and one genuine near-miss when a girl froze in the middle of a left-hand turn on a compound upgrade with a pickup going well in excess of posted speed almost hit us, but I was in the back seat, my friend would've been the one in serious trouble. The other issues were kids still learning how to turn left and the same girl above, who's afraid of driving, and not getting up to speed on Rt. 20 fast enough with a long line of traffic, including a couple of big trucks, coming up behind us. And us in a tiny Chevy Cobalt that's a torture device for more than two adults. Charlie Larkin
  23. Along with over-sized wheels, period. Charlie Larkin
  24. I, too, am curious about the '59 Dodge and Turbine car. Art, Dave, something, anything? The AMT releases....have a Vicky already, I think. I'll double-check, if not, I'll get one. The Blazer I'm a little interested in, I have a couple of ideas I might be able to use it for. The redline tires might also be of interest. What I'm really interested in, though, are a bunch of the 1/48 planes, especially the Stimson. Curious to see what Revell has in mind. Charlie Larkin
  25. Nice job on that. I've considered trying to convert one into a Celebrity. Charlie Larkin
