What were the steps that you did after the adhesion promoter (ap) was applied? Did you prime after the ap or did you spray your base over the ap? How long did you let it sit after applying the ap? what brand ap did you use? in the case with some adhesion promoters ( i don't know what brand you used), you have a "window" to apply a primer. If you miss the window, you can sometimes get away with scuffing it with a scotchbrite pad. If you share a little more info on the steps you did, it would help us to help you

I got home this afternoon from my 1st, but hopefully not last, attendance of the NNL East and let me tell you....this is a great show. The Tri-State Scale Model Car Club really have their act together and know what they are doing. I got to the venue @8:30 and the line was around the building. The doors opened @9 and I was inside in no time. Thanks to TSSMCC for putting on a spectacular event. And thanks to the vendors that were there. I enjoyed the trip and the show. I didn't get to meet a lot of people, but the ones that I did meet were friendly. It was nice to put faces to names. And to Mr. Oldman, Donn Yost, it was nice to talk SHINY with you.

I got to see this in person and it is Awesome! Unfortunately, I didn't get a chance to take any pictures of it. Or a chance to meet you.

in the usual Ira fashion of things, you have amazed me with the creativity, speed of building, and end result. thanks for sharing some of the things floating around in your brain stew.

looks good, Rob. is there a mural on the trunk? will this, and you, be making an appearance at the fairgrounds in october?

very nice, Jim. the color suits this car well. it has a "classy" look to it.

looks good, Jim. I'm with the popular vote about the wheels, but all in all it turned out nicely. looks like the student HAS been paying attention.

How Far Would You Travel To A Show?
fatkidd replied to Bill Eh?'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
The longest that I have traveled so far is about 7-8 hours to attend the NNL in Atlanta (smyrna, actually). However, I will be leaving Friday morning to travel to New Jersey for the NNL East. This will be the 1st time that I will be flying with models. It should be fun. According to Google maps, It is just shy of 1200 miles from my house to the venue for NNL East. I'm also planning on attending the IPMS nationals in August in Colorado Springs. -
your creations are the modeling equivalent to crack. i'm always checking for the next fix (update). keep the imagination flowing, Ira...we all enjoy the show

the trick that I found with liquid masking is to apply it a little thicker that you would think is needed. It makes it easier to remove. And I have had issues with it on chrome...it will discolor some chrome pieces. If you are looking for something to mask small, not-so-straight areas, try silly putty. Ace-Garageguy - The stuff that you mention sounds rather interesting...especially the easy clean up that you mention. How does it do with chrome?

internet connection to watch this...check popcorn...check towel to soak up the drool puddle...check Ira, you always seem to tap dance in the grey area. cool concept
-
That is exactly what I was thinking. I hadn't seen one before and figured why not
-
I like this. I'm in the process of building a willys roadster as well. I like the smooth hood. And the Boyds wheels would be my choice...they fit the car well

Here's a link to the pictures that I took at Billetproof Florida yesterday. It was held at Don Garlits' Museum of Drag Racing. It was rather windy and overcast, but there was a good turnout for the model contest and the 1:1 car show. model contest link: http://s19.photobucket.com/user/fatkidd/library/plastic%20models/2013%20Billetproof%20Model%20Contest car show link: http://s19.photobucket.com/user/fatkidd/library/plastic%20models/2013%20Billetproof%20Model%20Contest/2013%20Billetproof%20Car%20show

if the part that you are wanting to be black chrome is already a chrome piece, you could try airbrushing Tamiya Smoke very lightly over the piece until you get the look you're after. otherwise, I'd go with Bill's suggestion.

looks good, Jim...but I think you might want to turn the tonneau cover around 180degrees. -
