  1. For me, it is usually more of a building need. I usually buy two copies of the same kit and paint them both. I might not necessarily build both, but I paint both and then build the better looking one. It's a little insurance against having something go wrong. And I tend to build the same 10-15 kits over and over, so I like to keep plenty of copies of the kits I like, the 41 Willys for example. That's a great kit and I love to build it so I keep half a dozen on my shelves at all times. Then there are kits I rob parts from like the AMT 66 Nova, so I keep a few of those. Well, you get the point, the kits start gathering and filling the shelves. I do not collect. I build. So what I have are kits I intend to build. Having said that I now have over 300 kits and not enough lifetimes to build them all, but so it goes.
  2. Oh yeah, you are getting going in the right direction. Looking forward to more.
  3. This one has a lot of charm. I like it.
  4. Love this VW.
  5. Another beautiful model in your collection, D.
  6. Looking forward to seeing more.
  7. Definitely will be watching this one.
  8. That looks wicked. Excellent.
  9. I call them the STYRENE BLUES. Yes, they happen often, and I think the best remedy is to take a little break and feed your imagination by looking at all sorts of stuff: magazines, videos, art, other model builders' work, etc . . .
  10. Wow, what a beauty. I love the subtle weathering touches in that interior. Superb.
  11. Albert, I like this model quite a bit. It's got lots of rusty charm I like. Great job.
  12. Jantrix, I like this thread, but I have to be honest and say that when it comes to accuracy and realism, I am NOT a stickler for them. I build what I like and how I want to represent it, given my mood, my attention span, and my patience. I think longer, more complex projects, do end up requiring a bit more attention to accuracy and realism. I always get the firing order on engines wrong because most of the time I'm either too lazy or just simply don't care because in the back of my mind I hear this: IT'S JUST A MODEL. I do admire and respect work that looks good and takes these things into account.
  13. My take on these kinds of valid questions is that overtime, as you experiment and try out new products, you realize what works and doesn't work. And out of the WHAT WORKS category, then you form WHAT WORKS BEST FOR YOU. Personally, I like the tried and true, but also the quick and the SAFE. The older I get, the less chances I like to take with my health.
  14. Wow, lots of eye candy in this thread already. Looking forward to more. Keep up the great (inspirational) work, everyone!
  15. Oh heavens, that is looking beautiful. Please keep it going.
  16. Love the whole scene. Wonderful build.
  17. Wow, some great subtle weathering. Love it. Keep up the good work.
  18. Wow, lots of great builds here. To me they are all winners. I never build for shows nor judges. I build out of my imagination for myself. This pretty much guarantees I will enjoy they hobby for a good long time.
  19. Pat, Ira will be proud. It's a cool, fun build. Love it.
  20. I love seeing pictures like these because they spark more dioramas. Thanks for sharing.
  21. Just proves Ferrari hasn't lost it's design touch. They are still making gorgeous cars which is more than I can say about the rest of them. I think Mercedes lost its way a long time ago and so has Jaguar.
  22. Geez, that's a great idea. I think it can be done in styrene. Oh yeah! Great work, Harry.
  23. Oh I love the colors on this one, it's looking fantastic.
  24. This one sure is looking purty!
