I wonder what one of those would look like? Hmmm...Maybe I could help you out there... Well, maybe it might look something like... Or maybe not ? You know depending on the year or whatever...

Introducing the 1st and 2nd gen Cougar CBP open to any Ford Or Mercury Cougar from 1967 - 1973 including the 1963 Cougar II. To Keep the rules simple, and because I work slow I'll keep the date open ended. There is one rule and only one rule... HAVE FUN! Old Builds, New builds, Half built, Factory stock, Custom, Shiny or Rusty I'd like to see them ALL! So please feel free to join in! My opening project for the CBP will most likely be a this 1970 Cougar...in resin: It's a bit rough, but when I saw it, I knew I had to have it! I believe this one was cast from R & D Unique. (Unfortunately I wasn't lucky enough to get one from Missinglink.) The project may change however as I have NUMEROUS Cats that need some attention! Unfortunately, I have another project to finish up first, before I can get started on this one it so it may or may not see much progress until the beginning of next year...(told you I was slow)! But please feel free to start without me as I will welcome the inspiration!

Thinking of some new CBP ideas(updated OP)
Abell82 replied to martinfan5's topic in Community Builds
Thanks Rob, and Thanks Brad. That's exactly my point. If it interests you, then great, start a CBP and see who joins. If no one is interested, (and there is almost ALWAYS someone that is interested) then you know that you have a unique understanding of the beauty of a less then popular subject. But to start a CBP that you may or may not be interested in just for a post count, or popular opinion, or whatever... it does no justice to anyone or anything, and yes to me that's a waste of time. Could we start a: Green car CBP? Absolutely! Would it showcase talent, or skill, or push anyone to strive to be better? Not really, it's too generic. too many makes, too many models, color variants etc. What if we changed that to a Big Bad Green AMC CBP? Narrows the field tremendously, right? Showcases a much narrower field of vehicles, Brings together people of like interest... etc How about a mirror paint finish CBP? It would showcase talent wouldn't it? Would it push people to polish a good paint finish into a GREAT finish? Maybe!? It is still quite generic, but at the same time it alows people to work on what they like best, and still come together and assist one another to be better. Flip side: Weathered CBP. How Dirty and old can it be? It allows one to showcase talent. Helps others learn. Encourages others to try harder. Specific make and model CBPs, (These are ALWAYS my favorite) These allow people to see what others are doing. What works, and what doesn't. It allows people to step up to strive to try new things that they can incorporate into other models. It also shows others how to accomplish the same modifications, and step outside thier comfort zones. Do any of these need a vote to see if it''s worth it to start one? I certainly don't think so. Again this is just MY opinion. Yours may vary. -
Thinking of some new CBP ideas(updated OP)
Abell82 replied to martinfan5's topic in Community Builds
No. Your trying to find something that will be popular. Why? That's not necessarily what the whole idea of CBP is about. You don't NEED to reach for a cbp. You start a CBP so that people with a mutual interest can show off there work and challenge each other to be better. To me what you are doing is trying to find a popular subject that will get a high post count. This doesn't do anything for anyone. Find what YOU like and others will follow ...or not,as the case may be. Sorry if my thoughts bend you out of shape, but it is what it is. You can do what you need to. -
I have contacted Missing Link and Bandit resins, but niether was interested in casting them, as Reliable Resin makes one, and Revell is reported to be working on one of them, in 125th scale. It was the wrong scale for Kris Morgan. He would also prefer 1/25th scale. Anyone have another suggestion?

Resin Mustang Lx's a Comparison and Review thread.

Here is the lower most portion with the styrene added... Here is the top portion sitting on the lower portion... Here are the two portions attached together. Note the opening is seemingly the same size yet the proportions are much closer. One more... -

Ok, So we have now seperated the lower half, and we have our lines drawn in marker. We will scribe these lines in a momnent, but first we need to add one more line. I used some 2mm pinstripe tape, to do this, or you could use Tamiya fine line tape or ... In any event, you want a new line, 2 mm from the bottom of the front of the bumper, like so... these will be our scribe lines. (These need to be scribe lines as we will be reusing this piece!) (note: I have filled some "imperfections" on my piece using ca glue.) In any event we need to carefully remove this piece, so that we can re use it... I used the back of an xacto blade to "scribe" the marker lines, until I had it cut out. Now that we have removed this piece, we need to glue it back in! Instead of the bumper being flat here, we need to glue it in at roughly a 30-45 degree angle. This will give us our much needed downward angle. Now we turn our attention to the lower portion. If your bumper looks like mine, 3mm below the trim, and 3 mm left of the portion removed from the bottom, you'll need to add 3 mm to the lower portion, in the rear, and 2mm in the front. Does this make sense? The overall goal should be 9 mm rear, 8mm front. (Someone correct me if I am wrong, please.) (continued) -

So ah,um.... Anyone want to know how to more "Correctly" fix a Reliable Resin front bumper? O.k. so if you've read this far you know that there is something a little off with the RR front bumper, I've shown you a quick fix, to get you into the ball park, but what if that's not good enough? If you're happy with what you have then there is no need to continue... (It's going to get messy!) If there is still something not quite right, and it's bothering you, continue reading ... So we know by now that Reliable Resins front bumper is not "Correct" but how "Incorrect" is it? Let's find out! (I bet by the time we're done, you'll smack your head and say "NOW I see it!") So... O.k. So you have your Reliable Resin Front bumper, maybe you've moved the lower portion forward, maybe you have not ... Well the first step is still to cut the entire lower portion off and move it forward... (here I used the back of a #11 Xacto blade, this left me with a 3mm "band" for the front bumper I did not add styrene to this, even though it shortened the bumper about 1 mm..) here is a pic of the bumper ca glued back together... *(interesting to note that it also appears to be biting it's lower lip? Though maybe it's just pouting...) Pretty standard so far right? Well, here is where things get messy... I hinted to this earlier by posting a pic, I was sure would get at least one question, but no one noticed, (or maybe no one cared?!) In any event... The black line is where the second cut will need to be made.... This is NOT for the squeemish, or those that are not comfortable with thier modeling abilities. If you are not comfortable, just do the first procedure, and leave it at that. If you are sure of your abilities please continue.... (When cutting this second cut please leave a little material so that you can tell where things go back to...) Are you still with me? O.K. then the second cut('s) are made you should have something like this... Again be sure that you leave a little material so that you can tell where things go back together... Here you can see I outlined there ares in question with black permanent marker. This IS IMPORTANT!! You need to do this now as well... (continued...) -
Jason V. and Fuel Coupe have responded.

It's essentially the same kit. but the Turbo Cobra comes with some funky louver covers for the side windows, and no sail panels. The McLaren comes with the sail panels and no louvers. The front bumpers are different. The Mustang Street Machine is the same kit as the McLaren, but includes a Capri rear taillight panel, and SVO style sailpanels. This is probably what you are thinking of.
-
Actually the orange plastic makes it a Mclaren Mustang. Same basic kit ,though the turbo Cobra does not include the sail panels, as far as I know. But yes please keep it going we are very interested to see how it goes.

That would make a killer paint scheme. too bad the wing and scoop weren't molded in red too.

Abell82 replied to Maindrian Pace's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Never seen one. Maybe he is thinking of the Testors Mustang Coupe or Capri kits? -
Paint the grill. Or atleast give it a black wash. It'll look a hundred times better.

Thanks, for the compliment though much appreciated. I like many of your projects as well, I believe you are too hard on yourself you do very good work. (Edit : Do you have pics of the SVO/GT hybrid? Anyhow... I sat down and I looked at what I was doing. ...And I realized that something was wrong. When I cut the bottom portion from the bumper, I took off too much material. So actually material needed to be added back to the top portion of the part that had been removed, and the back, in order to keep the proportions right. Here's what I mean... This should get you into thew ballpark of where you want to be. The bumper will still not be correct, but it should look closer, then before.... well maybe...kind of sort of.... -
